June Random Read Nominations

Lady D, do we have a first book in the series rule? I have a book in mind that can be read without a lot of loss from having read the whole series, but it does fall later. I won't name it till you get back to me. I have a back up. I'll just nominate the first book. It's good, just not as good.
Sounds like fun! Too many to choose from though...might take me a while to come up with just one nomination :) Should be interesting to see what people come up with without a theme to guide them. (I forsee my "to read" list getting much longer)

Mike, we have in the rules that it's okay to nominate the subsequent book if we've read the first. Just out of curiosity, which book is it? Is it a book that is more or less a standalone despite being part of a series? I think we could probably allow a book if it's not highly tied into the other books in a series.
It's I, Sniper which is actually the 6th in the Bob Lee Swagger books. The books aren't an actual series except in the sense that they each open a couple of years or something after the last. Thus the things that happened before are part of Bob's past, but you get a sort of background fill in. His kids are older and so on. I just happen to think that I, Sniper is the best of the Swagger books.
Let me know how you want to go. I think anyone could pick it up and read it without a problem (I actually read the third novel last, so...you know).

I'm good with it, Mike, Lady D, if there were a lot of people who haven't read Joe Pike, I'd nominated that, and it's really Elvis Cole 13 staring Joe Pike. I'm going to actually nominate something... I'm just not sure what yet.
Mike's a good judge of things, if he thinks this works as a stand-alone read, I'm good with it.

I'll have to go through my TBR list to see what peeks my interest.
Okay...I, Sniper
I'll post a link to my review...but don't read the spoiler if you haven't read the book yet. I like this one. I put it on my favorites list...but it is pure brain candy, no deep meanings here, just escapism.

Wow, where is everyone...I thought we'd have a lot of nominations by now. I am nominating a book that has been on my "to read" list for a while. The synopsis says for fans of Michael Crichton, James Rollins, Clive Cussler, and Brad Thor...so should fit in well here.
Brainrush, a Thriller by Richard Bard

Ice Hunt is a fun read no matter how many times I read it.
And Sable.. cool... I'm thinking about going out to left field... (if you'll excise the expression)
and bring in something from outer space)
How about Conquerors' Pride? I like a good war story with a little romance.

How about Event by David L. Golemon? (though my primary nomination is Conqueror's Pride, this is if I can nominate 2)
Ice Hunt by James Rollins has won the poll for the June group read. Discussion will start on June 1st. Thanks to everyone who participated in the nomination and voting process!
