I see some of you are on the other group as me Book Challange so I was curious as to what everyone's challege is?

I plan on reading 65 (5 have to be classics) from November 08 to November 09. So far I am at my 10th book and I am seariously slacking!

message 2: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 23, 2008 09:25AM) (new)

For that challenge ('cause you invited me) I'm shooting for 50 in '09. I usually mix in a classic for every 5 books or so.

I also have a concurrent challenge to finish 36 from Oct '08 to Oct '09 and I am currently on pace for that one.

Donna, I might be doing some fuzzy math, but it seems to me you are pretty much on pace!

I did 6 in Nov. but then only 4 in Dec. so I am slacking. I really wasn't that into Dead Until Dark so it took me some time to get thru it but I am hoping tha tthe other ones are better.

We will see how far I go.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I am also hoping the other ones are better, but I was entertained enough and sucked into the plot a bit, even if the writing was not the best.

I dunno I think I just couldn't get over the banana clip!

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't recall that? You mean in her hair? There were some cheesy descriptions of her putting make up on, etc.

It was a hairclip in the like early 80's and I hate those things!!! There is not a lot that bother me but that is on the top of my list LOL

message 8: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments I'm doing the A-Z title challenge from 10/08 - 10/09. This one is most interesting to me because it will really encourage me to read books that I might not otherwise find time for. I think that once I've done the title challenge, I'm going to try the A-Z author challenge, which will help me find new authors. It is a fun challenge!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

2009 my goal is 100 books but I would like to try to read more but 100 is a good place to start!

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments I've gotten so busy with work and two young kids (and the fact that I've been playing a bit too much of an mmo lately) that I've really been slacking on books. I need to kick it back into high gear!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Donna you are getting a lot of reading done. If you keep it up you'll be over 100 books this year.

message 17: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
U think so? I feel like I am slacking because I am in schol but I am trying. Good luck on yours u seem like u r doing great!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I am slacking a lot for no reason. Actually I am doing a bit of research that is taking up a lot of time.

message 19: by [deleted user] (new)

Shame, shame Emilee. You are doing something besides reading?! :)

message 20: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
GRRRR So I def think that I will not be making my challange unless I count in all the text and articles I have to read for school!

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll probably make mine, but it'll be a struggle!

message 22: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) So, I've decided that this year I'm actually going to take note of all the books I read. I've never actually counted the number I've read before so this should be interesting for me.

My readin2009 bookshelf is where I'm keeping track of these books. I think I've read about 20 so far. Some of them are graphic novels and some are novellas and some are trashy mystery novels... Somehow I don't think its that much of an accomplishment.

message 23: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod

How is everyone doing with their challanges? I need to get a move on!!!!

message 27: by Jen (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 339 comments I was doing the A-Z title challenge, but I've lost focus on it. While it's a great challenge that helps one read books they might not otherwise read, I feel that for me right now, a straight 50 books in a year challenge is better. I started over in May, and am working on my second book.

Here it is so far:

1. The Lucky One (N. Sparks)
2. Gone With the Wind - currently reading

Donna,

I believe you! Life gets crazy at times! I'll go through periods where it takes weeks (or months) to get through just one book, and then all of a sudden I can bust out several in just a few days. Honestly, quantity isn't nearly as important as the quality! You need to be able to enjoy the time you have to read!

message 30: by Donna, The Pusher (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 3119 comments Mod
OK I am getting back on track now. School is out and I have been taking an Express bus to and from work (because of my pregnancy) and it has been nice & comfy and it drops me off closer to home!!! So more reading time. AND of course Iwill have three days to read in the hospital (well 2 1/2 I guess!!

How is everyone else doing?

How is everyone doing with their challenge? I am not doing so good! I have 2 more months and I have to read 11 more books...wait maybe I can do it! I just gotta try to read smaller books I guess LOL

But I don't think I am going to add my 5 Classics in there..just cause
