Who is your daddy and what does he do? — READ THIS FIRST!

Also, Sue: I don't think you know Janice personally, but she is your second cousin. Janice's father and my father are brothers.

I'm excited about the books I'll be introduced to :).
Wine-wise, I'm from one of the northernmost wine regions in Europe; the main wines here are Mueller-Thurgau, Riesling and Pinot blanc. Just thought you might want to know :).

Yes, Saxony :). And thank you :).

My name is Sally and I am from Australia - originally from the Hunter Valley wine region hubby and I now live the tropics. Our holidays all revolve around wine regions of Australia and New Zealand :)
Being the tropics we drink lots of whites - but I do like my reds when I get a chance. Sangiovase, merlot, temprenello and Shiraz spring to mind for reds - viogner, pinot Gris, Sav blanc and Chardonnay are my favourite whites.
As for books - I am eclectic in my reading and read anything from intense and thought provoking to light and fluffy.

Nice to meet you as well!

Welcome to the group, Chris! I see you've already read The Book Thief, which is our pick for July, but please feel free to comment on the discussion thread as others start to post there.

Thanks again!

Which part of Ontario are you from? I've been to Toronto...
Welcome to the group. We start A Walk in the Woods in August, but there's still plenty of time to read July's pick.
I have not yet read Ken Follett!

Originally, I'm from Montreal, Quebec (born and raised). My parents live in Newmarket (45 minutes north of Toronto) where I lived as a kid. I've lived in Toronto (my hubby is a cop there) but we currently live in Hamilton.
I'll be hittin' up Indigo for July's book tomorrow....
Read Pillars of the Earth - SO GREAT!! Not my usual genre but I totally dug it!
Cheers!!

I have sampled the Portuguese wine-most happily on past trips to Lisbon and Madeira-and I will look for the German white. When I was in high school in the last century, Rhine wine was a favorite. We used to hide it under our shirts in wine skins. I have been scrolling through many of your reviews and admire your taste-and your eloquence. Full disclosure: I spent the last hour, while Obama and Romney were revisiting their talking points under the guise of discussing foreign policy, reading your reviews of books I've read. I think it was a wiser use of my time then listening to them!

First things first.....
Try some Sauvignon Blanc from the Malborough region of NZ,its a fab white.
Now for the books.....
I flicked through your book list and I find we have read a lot of the same ones/types.
Welcome to the group.
Kat

I enjoy fine red wine and good company. I also like drawing and writing

The purpose of Read Between the Wines is to nominate books to read together as a group. Then, we can post our thoughts/comments in the "Discussions" section. Or not. It doesn't really matter. Oh, and if you've rated or written a review for a book that is on this group's bookshelf, it will automatically appear on the "group page" for that book (see our bookshelf).
Also, we may use this group to plan real-life book/wine club meetings periodically. Just use the "events" link to plan one!
Participation in this group is strongly encouraged. Even if you decide not to read the group's book choice for the month, your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
