Laya looked up at Sarah. "Nothing... I'm trying desperately to get her to feel better... Everything I say seems to backfire on me."

Christy looked up, gritting her teeth. "It's Christy." she muttered. "Short for Christecia. But," she said, eyes brimming with anger and fear, "if you ever, ever call me that, I will rip your intestines out and feed them to the dogs."
"Oh, don't worry. My name isn't really Laya. Nanileia at your service. But, like you said, intestines, dogs... yeah..." Laya grinned.
Christy didn't crack a smile at all. She didn't trust her in any way shape or form, and she was on no terms going to be friendly.
Laya's grin slowly faded. "Alright. Not ready to joke. I can respect that, Christy. But I won't call you by your real name. I don't even think I can pronounce it."

"I don't get it... if you don't want people calling you that, why tell them what it is and how to say it?" Laya tilted her head to the side.
Christy looked at the ground. "My parents, they," she stopped as tears began to roll down her cheeks again.
Laya's expression softened. "You don't have to tell me."
Christy covered her face. She hated being vulnerable! A small fire began to burn in her palms, as always happened when she was upset or angry.
Laya wanted to comfort Christy, but she wasn't sure if she would want that or not. So instead she politely looked away.
Christy was thankful that the girl stopped looking. She dried her eyes and tried to stop her hiccupping coughs.
Laya heard the crying subside, but she still heard hiccupping coughs. She wasn't sure whether or not it was OK yet, so she decided to play around with the lightning. Outside of a house with a frightened little boy, she struck lightning. She grinned, but then frowned. That was a cruel thing to do... She wished there was some way to apologize to the boy.
Christy gradually calmed down. She saw her palms glowing and put them out. She gently touched Laya's hand. And she was not a touchy person.
Laya looked back at Christy. She tried to make people feel better, but she was no good at it. So she didn't say anything.
Christy reached into her pocket. Slowly, she took out a locket. Then she opened it. Inside was a tiny picture of her mother and father.
Laya watched Christy pull out a locket with a picture of two people she automatically understood were her parents. She smiled softly and got up to leave her with her memories.
"I'll be over there." She nodded to where she had been previously.
"I'll be over there." She nodded to where she had been previously.
Christy didn't respond. She was lost in her own world. She remembered one time, when they were at the beach, she and her parents were in a row, walking along the beach. She was in between her parents, and they were letting her fly. They always said that she could fly, if she set her mind to it.
Laya was still worried about Christy, but she seemed a bit better. She stood there in the rain, staring at the sky. A horn honked and she looked down. There was a man sitting there in his car, staring at her like she was crazy.
"Need a ride?"
"Nope! I'm good!" She laughed at his face as he drove away and she stared at the sky again.

Christy was completely oblivious to the outside world. She was just standing there, rain splashing on her face, mingling with her tears, as she wandered around her memories.
Laya looked back at Christy, but thought it would be better to let her relive her memories. So she sat on the ground in a middle of a storm... and waited. While waiting, she took comfort in the thunder and lightning.
Suddenly, Christy burst into flame, along with everything around her. A blast of heat erupted from her. Obviously, she was reliving the fire that she had caused.
Laya jumped up and turned around as she watched the rain put out the flames. She ran to Christy to check if she was alright.
"Christy! Christy, are you OK?" Stupid question.. she knew the answer. "It's OK..."
"Christy! Christy, are you OK?" Stupid question.. she knew the answer. "It's OK..."
Christy had an empty look in her eyes. As though all emotion was drained from her. The color was starting to drain from her face. Suddenly, she collapsed onto the ground, and didn't move, although the fire around her body was gradually fading.
Laya screamed and crouched down. What was she supposed to do?! She didn't have a phone... electronics always broke when they were around her. She couldn't call 911, she didn't know where the hospital was, and she wasn't a doctor. What to do?!
"What? Who? I can't keep them away if I don't know who I'm supposed to be keeping away." Laya was wide eyed. She tried to keep her awake.
Laya's eyes scrunched together. Did she have MPD (multiple personality disorder)?
"Um.. you... Nothing. It's nothing." She figured it would be better to forget the experience.

((no, she just snapped out of a trance.))
Christy shrugged. Suddenly, she seemed to remember her hostility towards Laya and immediately turned her back.

OK, then... bonding time is over... Laya thought. She shook her head. She didn't expect anything more, really. She turned away. Might as well let her open up when she's ready.
Laya was shocked to see Christy's hand, but took it and stood up. She had gathered that she wasn't much of a people person, so decided not to make a big deal out of it.
Christy stalked off. "I'm gonna go catch us some food." she produced a hidden bow and arrow from a notch in a tree, and headed off into the woods.
Laya watched Christy stalk off.
"Wait! Why not go down the road to Dairy Queen's?"
"Wait! Why not go down the road to Dairy Queen's?"
"Have you eaten anything other than what you hunted? Why don't we go to my house and I can make us something? You don't have to go through the trouble to kill some animals... besides, I'm a vegetarian." Laya had been intent to just get a soda and a salad at the Dairy Queen.
((I gotta go to bed... And my mom may not let me on tomorrow because I was on all day today... Sorry!))

Christy shrugged. "That's all I ever ate. My parents encouraged survival techniques, in case anything like this ever happened. But okay."
"Yeah let's all go to DQ i'm starving" Lyla said
"of course they do they have hamburgers chicken and other things too, and they have great ice cream."
"it's only the best thing ever! it's frozen cream with different flavorings and different things in it like cookies and candy bars."
When Trin came in the house, her brother Tom was sitting on the couch. He signed, Are you ready to go now? Trin signed back, Let me get my bag. Tom nodded and Trin ran up to her room. Her brother spoke in sign language because he was deaf, and it was her fault.
Five years ago, when Trinity was ten and Tom was twelve, Trin discovered her power. She didn't know how to use it, or how to control it, but she knew she had it. She had just been sitting in her fourth grade classroom, when suddenly, her teacher couldn't speak. Mr. Caraway was mute for twenty minutes. This began happening more often, and Trin realized she was the souce. When she tried to tell Tom about it, he called her a liar. For days Trin talked about it. Tom still didn't believe her. Then, she cracked. She got so mad, she made him deaf and mute. Now she was fifteen and she knew how to control her power. But she couldn't reverse Tom. He would never speak or hear again. He believed her now.
Trin grabbed her purse and ran back to the front hall. Tom was waiting by the door. Because Tom was couldn't hear, Trin had to take him everywhere. Today the siblings were going the mall. Tom opened the door and motioned for Trin to walk through. After you. Trin pretended to curtsy, and walked outside. Tom followed. The two were off.

"you've never had cookies and candy bars? you've got to try some now." Lyla said hurring now
Christy shook her head. "Never even heard of them." She pulled away from Laya. "I can't get near so many people! I'll hurt them!"
"you won't hurt anyone, if you start a fire i can put it out"
