Theresa (tsorrels) Let's go ahead and get started on picking out the group read for January.

The rules for submitting a book title:
1) One submission per UF member
2) Please submit the title and author
3) UF titles are preferred, but supernatural, sci-fi, and fantasy are okay too.
4) It must be the first book in a series or a stand-alone title
NOTE = If the title is in a series, but can be read without previous knowledge of the earlier books, feel free to submit it.
5) If we have already read and discussed the first book in the series as a group, the second title can be submitted.

Let's go to a total of 10 nominations or an end date of Saturday, December 20th - whichever comes first.

Since the polls simplified things quite nicely last month at voting time, we're going to use the Polls option again instead of submitting votes in the topic.

Please start nominating titles... and newcomers, please don't be shy - we would love to hear from you!

Anneliese | 6 comments The Scent of Shadows: The First Sign of the Zodiac - Vicki Pettersson

"When she was 16, Joanna Archer was brutally assaulted & left to die in the Nevada desert. By rights she *should* be dead.
Now a photographer by day, she prowls a different Las Vegas after sunset - a grim, secret Sin City where Light battles Shadow - seeking answers to whom or what she really is ... and revenge for the horrors she was forced to endure.
But the nightmare is just beginning - for the demons are hunting Joanna, and the powerful shadows want her for their own..."

BAD BLOOD, which is the 1st in the Crimson Moon series. Here is the blurb:

Sasha Trudeau knows all about working beneath the shadows, back-alley deals, and things that go bump in the night. She also knows that the world is unaware of the existence of the paranormal—and that the government would like to keep it that way.

As a highly trained Special Ops soldier, Sasha and her team are an elite group of individuals who are survivors of werewolf attacks, now trained to be loyal to only to each other and their government. But when she returns from a solo mission, she finds that her team has mysteriously gone missing. Shocking government conspiracies, double-dealing vampires, and a host of stunning revelations about who—and what—she really is are only just the beginning…

Theresa (tsorrels) I'm going to submit this yet again in the hopes that it'll eventually win. :)

Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz

Daphne (bythepen) | 21 comments Hi! This is my first time posting in the group. :)

I'd like to nominate Tempting Danger by Eileen Wilks. After reading her novella in On the Prowl, I'm interested in reading Wilks' series.

Here's the description from Amazon:

"National bestselling author Eileen Wilks draws readers into a bold new world where the magical and mundane co-exist in an uneasy alliance--and a cop balanced on her own knife-edged struggle is their only hope against a cold-blooded killer."

The spine says it's Paranormal Romance. (I have the book but haven't read it yet.)

Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Jaz Parks Book 1)
by Jennifer Rardin

I'm Jaz Parks. My boss is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his vampire wife, Liliana. But that's ancient history. For the moment Vayl works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best--assassination. And I help. You could say I'm an Assistant Assassin. But then I'd have to kick your ass.Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he's meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing's ever as easy as it seems?
