Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia, that sounds heartbreaking too. I shouldn't have read some reviews...gah, I hate it when people don't hide spoilers. Are you planning on reading it?

The Colorado Mountain series is not as funny as Rock Chicks but it still has its hilarious moments. I LOL a few times.

Krishawna, I loved Annie's Song! I hope you enjoy it.

I'm currently reading Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean fit the witty HR bill for me quite nicely.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Tellulah. I've read all of McLean's books too and you're right...she's witty too!

That whole series was great! And if you love humor, I just finished recently [bookcover:Bedding Lord Ned|13223652] It had me literally laughing out loud through a good portion of it!

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I just finished Chasing Nikki (Chasing Nikki, #1) by Lacey Weatherford . It was good. The writing wasn't earth shattering but the story had me wiping tears from my face.

So, I am in the mood for some PNR shifters who scream "MINE!" Anyone have any recs they can give me?

Courtney | 337 comments Kay - You mean being possessive? I like that :D

message 4809: by Kay (last edited Sep 14, 2012 05:21PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hahah...yes, possessive but not in the stalkerish way. More like possessiveness b/c of their shifter nature. Especially werewolves with their pack mentality. I've been searching the lists on goodreads but haven't found anything that interests me.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hey ladies this is completely off topic but if anyone of you are interested in going to Hawaii American Airlines has flights for cheap. My sis and I are planning a trip for next April and the tickets are less than $300. The tickets are $200 if you plan to leave on a Thursday. My sis and I are spending about 7 days in Honolulu since there is more to do there and we are taking her boys. The last two days we are staying on Maui.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kay wrote: "Stacia, that sounds heartbreaking too. I shouldn't have read some reviews...gah, I hate it when people don't hide spoilers. Are you planning on reading it?"

I know. I don't mind minor plot spoilers because it's hard to avoid some small details, but lately people have been putting massively big reveals in their reviews.

I think I'll read it at some point. The book's sitting on my reader just waiting for when I'm in the mood to deal with drama and potential heartbreak.

Just finished What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1) by Kat Zhang and I really liked this one. I think the idea of two people sharing one body and having one mind be the dominant/controlling person is an interesting idea.

I also read a freebie erotic short last night (can't remember the name, I'll have to look it up later) that was about a training school for submissives and I enjoyed it quite a bit, even though it seemed far-fetched in places. I'm debating if I want to purchase the next story to see what happens now.

Marcella - have you tried using Kayak.com.com to check your flights? It's like a search engine for flights and it will give you all sorts of different options.

message 4820: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I'm now reading Queen of Shadows (Shadow World, #1) by Dianne Sylvan , which I am very excited to start!

Rachel the Book Harlot A little bit of an eclectic mix but I just finished Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale recently, which I really liked (although I had issues with the heroine in the second part of the book), and I just finished Bodega Dreams by Ernesto Quiñonez , which I also really liked. Now I'm reading Clean (Mindspace Investigations, #1) by Alex Hughes .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Welcome to the group Rachel. :)

Read a quickie erotic last night La Bonne by Michèle de Lully and it was nice sex-wise (liked that it was f-m-f instead of the usual m-f-m) but I'm not a fan of HEA menage. Not sure why, but I'd rather it be a fling instead of a permanent thing.

Started Safekeeping by Karen Hesse because it sounded interesting but so far I'm just confused and will probably start Stolen by Shiloh Walker for another group tomorrow.

I'm not a fan of the HEA ménage either, Stacia. I can't never believe it will work long term.

Dnelson | 11 comments I'm working my way through Deanna Raybourn's Lady Julia series. It's really good, but kind of infuriating! It drove me to jump back into Lee Child's Jack Reacher series! After that I will be ready to go back and read book 4, Dark Road to Darjeeling (Lady Julia, #4) by Deanna Raybourn

message 4828: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Yesterday I finished reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck by John Steinbeck. It's an extremely short but nevertheless fantastic novel. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The ending is so incredibly moving that I cried while reading it. I truly can't recommend this novel enough. John Steinbeck is an excellent author (and one of my favourite writers)!

Today I've started reading The Future of Us by Jay Asher by Jay Asher.

I second or I guess, third that. haha! I agree, how can that work. I just now try to avoid those type of books.

Let me know how Future of Us is if you get the chance!

Finished Safekeeping by Karen Hesse and it wasn't for me but I think other people might like it.

Starting Incarnation by Emma Cornwall

message 4832: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I like the menage HEAs, if they are done well. I have had that one on my radar for awhile. So you all might find this funny.

I know my personal saga has just been annoying, it seems never ending. My husband is highly improved! He can even ride a bike now and he can almost completely bend his knee. He is at 130 degrees and I believe a complete bend is 150 degrees. He still has pain and discomfort but hopefully that will end with time. Then there has been my job stress, which keeps getting worse. So last week, I was so stressed I couldn't eat or sleep. Okay, here is the funny part -- you likely all remember my rant against Alpha men who force women to sleep. LOL. Well that was my husband all last week. He would actually show up at work (not an easy thing to do as we live in the burbs and I work in the City) to take me to lunch, he would fix my favorite meals and force me to sit down, I would be pacing and he would force me to sit next to him and rest and sleep. I definitely saw the irony in him doing all this, which I loved and appreciated -- and then me hating that theme in books. :) LOL. He just texted me in fact and said -- what are you eating for lunch?

message 4833: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay. So I read Easy by Tammara Webber in about 3 hours last night and absoltuely LOVED LOVED LOVED it! OMG I devoured that book and wow Lucas (say no more) is damned hot. What other books are like this book? Keeping in mind I am not a fan of Travis (in Beautiful Disaster) type heroes?? Thank you ladies for putting this book on my radar!

I am reading right now My Kind of Christmas (Virgin River, #20) by Robyn Carr and it is so good. I am loving it. :) Leea, the heroine is a niece of Jack and Brie and the hero is a Riordan brother. :) And of course the heroine stays in that little cabin in the woods/clearing that Mel first stayed at way back when. :D

It feels so good to be reading two books I am in to. I think sweet romance was exactly what I needed.

What other sweet romance with really good character development and sexy heroes (but not over controlling, etc) should I put on my TBR?

message 4834: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Man... I've been nervous to read Easy, afraid that it would be too full of Drama, but you guys all seem to like it so much. I think I might have to read that one.

message 4835: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is drama filled and touches on some tense topics, but it was exactly what I needed. The romance is so sweet! Tell what else is like this?????? I need to fill this gap. :)

Are Julie James' books like this?

message 4836: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm glad things are improving on the home front, Regina. :) LOL on your husband checking on you to eat and sleep! I think it's different when somebody who knows you well pushes you when you need it. I wouldn't definitely take a controlling attitude from a boyfriend!

My husband is like that - always checking if I've eaten, slept, etc. We used to fight about that because I hated it but then when he didn't do it, I missed the attention (it's nice to have a husband to give you massages when you're tired or cook meals daily.) But then he told me he either could turn that off or on but that he couldn't be in the middle. So I've learned to live with it and now it doesn't bother me as much.

message 4837: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I have Easy by Tammara Webber on my TBR. I should move it up!

JJ books are very light and there's very little drama.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The only menage HEA that I recall liking was book 5 of Rough Riders because it seemed plausible.

I really enjoyed Easy, so I'm glad you liked it.

Regina, chat away. It's what we're here for.

message 4839: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I remember about a year ago many of you read an older YA romance book (I think it is one of the authors who are behaving badly ...?) book and you all loved it? It was right around the time we were are reading How to Kill a Rock Star. Do you remember? Would that be similar to Easy?

Is Thoughtless (Thoughtless, #1) by S.C. Stephens similar to Easy?

message 4840: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 17, 2012 01:46PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) No. It's closer to BD.

I can't recall what book you're referring to. I remember reading Something Like Normal by Trish Doller around the same time as Easy and liking that one similarly. Nothing is coming to mind about the time of HTKARS though.

We read the Between the Lines series and that's by the same author of Easy. Is that what you're thinking of?

message 4841: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 17, 2012 01:47PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh wait, maybe it would be Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park ? We all really liked that one, then the author went bat-shit crazy and started stalking reviewers, so I downrated my review, which is too bad because I loved the book.

message 4842: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Is it closer to BD because of the drama or because of the boy issues? The reason I had to DNF BD was due to how controlling Travis was and I couldn't handle the girls hating each other (yes I am super sensitive). I am okay with drama but not the other.

Yes, it was Flat Out Love! Thank you!!!

I saw that you all didn't right the Between the Lines very highly, so I thought it wasn't worth it to try?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I had to downrate BD after the fact as well because that author also went bat-shit crazy on reviewers. When will these authors learn?

I really liked the BTL series but it may not be for everyone. The first book was a little fluffy but I grew to love Graham in the second book because he's a well-written beta male.

message 4844: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hmm, I am going to see if my library has either Between the Lines or FOL. I don't want to buy FOL for the bat shit crazy reasons. :)

message 4845: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It has Flat Out Love but not Between the Lines. BTL is the one I feel good about buying, so that is okay.

Awww, he was trying to take care of you. That' so sweet and funny because I know how you are don't like those kind of Alpha Males. He was doing it for all the right reasons and i'm sure very worried about you. I'm so excited that he's getting better and i'm sure he feels more like himself now. Yay!!

message 4850: by Leea (new)

Leea Support, I wasn't in the room for the 10 min and 5 times it took to pop out Molly but I was there before and after. We had a blast and it was an amazing experience.

Molly is an eater, she was nursing for an hour and a half and still going strong when I had to leave.
