Those covers are fantastic... I just didn't really like the first book, do they get better?

message 4752: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Leea they get much better. They are really good. I think you will like them.

I was just told to read book 2 of the burg because I would like it.

Apparently, there are forces at work trying to get me to keep giving the author a chance. :p

Just finished Risking It All by Jennifer Schmidt and it was pleasant enough, nothing special. I do like the friends to lovers scenario and some of the woman's sexual desires were nice to read about because they match up with what I like but I'd wished there was more to the actual sex when they finally got to it. I was let down a bit for this being an actual romance novel.

Started my re-read of Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson and also picked up On Dublin Street by Samantha Young both for group/buddy reads. I'm having fun seeing Tairen Soul through new eyes and so far I'm not hating On Dublin Street, so I'll cross my fingers that it doesn't go too bad since I'm nervous about this one.

message 4754: by Leea (new)

Leea I can't wait to hear what you think of On Dublin Street.

Yeah, You might like The Burg series. I'm completely drawn into For You right now. I do hear that the second Burg book is amazing!

Did you end up reading Breathe, Stacia?

Marcella, I'll have to give them another shot, thanks ;)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) No chance to read Breathe just yet. I've been shying away from long books at the moment because my attention span has been all over the place. At least the one long book I'm doing a re-read of is easy to skim because I know which parts I like.

I'll let you know what I think of ODS when I'm done.

As for The Burg, I just think it's funny/cute that people are bound and determined to find me a book from KA that I'll like. After 4 books, you think everyone would have thrown in the towel with me by now!

I am excited for that one cause Hector is pretty hot.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments You have no idea Tellulah. Just wait until you read his book. His hotness goes up 500%. WOWZA!!!!

message 4758: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) I'm working on Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Maguire

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That sounds cute. :)

message 4760: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading The Midwife's Confession by Diane Chamberlain by Diane Chamberlain just a few minutes ago. It's a brilliant read! It took me a couple of chapters to get into this novel but once I did I was hooked! Every time you think you've guessed the big secret, it moves to another level and you realise what you think you've guessed is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. I couldn't put it down!

Next I plan to read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck by John Steinbeck.

Me too, I think you've read enough of her books to know they're not for you. Hahaha! You know you wont get pressure from me :)

message 4762: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Somebody To Love by Kristan Higgins and Just Listen by Sarah Dessen which were ok.

I'm still reading A Girl Like You by Maria Geraci . I found out I have pink eye today so my eyes have been iffy while I read. Hopefully, I can finish this book tomorrow.

message 4763: by Leea (new)

Leea Kay, how are you?

Oh, Man... The boys gave you pink eye. You poor thing. I'm so sorry.

message 4764: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hi Leea. I've been 'blah' with reading but I'm okay. I need to find a book that will blow me away. How are you doing? My boys actually don't have pink eye but I may have gotten it from my son's classroom since I volunteer there 2 times a week. I never had pink eye before & it really sucks.

message 4765: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Kay - A Girl Like You looks pretty interesting! Tell me how that goes!

And sorry about the pink eye!

message 4766: by Leea (new)

Leea That sucks, well at least you got it instead of the boys. Them being miserable is worse. Hope it clears up soon.

I'm sorry you haven't found a book that's sucked you in. Maybe it's time for a reread or a new series.

message 4767: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, ladies!

Courtney, so far, it's cute & familiar like other chick lits I've read. It's something light to pass the time while I'm in this reading rut.

Leea, I may need to re-read something. Any new series you recommend? Have you found anything similar to TBH yet? I need something epic maybe.

message 4768: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, I wish. Unless you haven't read Outlander? I haven't found anything like T and A because there is nothing like those two.

We can always buddy read something, if we can find something you haven't read.

message 4769: by Kay (last edited Sep 12, 2012 09:54PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I only read Outlander #1. I'll have to get back to these books someday...it's just that the books are so long so I'm apprehensive.

Yeah, I'll have to search for something that I haevn't read...that's the hard part. Ha!

message 4770: by Leea (new)

Leea Sometimes a good Erotica resets my book brain. Yeah, we've got to read something together, we just have to find a book. Hehe!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Leea wrote: "Stacia ~ mistress of mediocrity wrote: "No chance to read Breathe just yet. I've been shying away from long books at the moment because my attention span has been all over the place. At least the o..."

I completely agree with you!

But for whatever reason, I keep getting told by multiple people that I just haven't found the right book yet.

Finished On Dublin Street by Samantha Young and I liked it more than I expected to. There were a couple of eye-rolling moments for me and one alpha scene that danced too close to the edge for my comfort but the love story was cute and I have to admit I was a sucker for the sex scenes. Yes, I am so girly to admit that the sex was the best part of the book. :p

Starting What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1) by Kat Zhang because I'm in the mood for a sci-fi adventure!

message 4772: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Finished reading Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley . I got to a really good part and couldn't put it down until I finished.

Now I can focus on For You (The 'Burg, #1) by Kristen Ashley for my buddy read with Leea.

Sorry Leea you have my undivided attention now. :-)

Leea and Marcella - Holy Hispanic Hottie!! *fans self* When is Ally's book coming out? I must read it now!

message 4774: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am not sure when Ally's book is coming out. I am anxious about it too. So I take it that you read Hector's book?

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Marcella wrote: "I am not sure when Ally's book is coming out. I am anxious about it too. So I take it that you read Hector's book?"

Yes. Just finished. Loved it. And Sadie is definitely one of my favs.

message 4776: by Leea (new)

Leea I think Ally's book should be out sometimes soon. Have you read the Colorado Mountain series, Tellulah? In Breathe (4th book), Ally makes an appearance - that's all i'll say but it's awesome!

Marcella, I understand :) I'm almost done, should finish tonight or tomorrow night, depends on how things go. Where are you at in For You?

message 4777: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am sorry Leea but I am not that far into the book. I think I am almost done with Chapter 4. I should be able to get in more reading tonight since the Voice isn't on. I am not used to having it on for 3 days straight.

message 4778: by Leea (new)

Leea No worries, I understand. It's a long book.

I have not, but thanks for letting me know!

message 4781: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments You should read the Colorado Mountain series Tellulah. More alpha males that are just as yummy.

I think Sadie is my favorite Rock Chick next to Stella.

Hector was a doll in the book. He was the sweetest of the Badass Motherf*ckers. LOL!

message 4782: by Leea (new)

Leea The Bridgertons are awesome! That was one series that I read when I first joined GR and it's sexy and funny. Enjoy, Ursula!

message 4783: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Well, I guess you could say I'm done with The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook , but my edition comes with Mina Wentworth and the Invisible City (Iron Seas, #1.5) by Meljean Brook so I'm reading this now!

message 4784: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments What did you think of it Courtney?

message 4785: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I really liked it, actually! It was definitely a great read and something I would read again later on.

message 4786: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments So does that mean you will be continuing with the series?

message 4787: by Courtney (last edited Sep 13, 2012 11:11PM) (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Well, the next book is about different characters and ones that I'm not too interested in. The third book, however, I would like to read! Riveted (Iron Seas, #3) by Meljean Brook

message 4788: by Marcella (last edited Sep 13, 2012 11:25PM) (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments So you don't have to read all the books in the series to getwhat is going on? I think I would still read all the books back to back. OCD is a bitch.

message 4789: by Courtney (last edited Sep 13, 2012 11:51PM) (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Well, I'm not too sure because I haven't read the second book. The hero and heroine of the second book are a part of the first book, though. For the third book, I've never heard of those character's names and don't know if they're in the second book, but I'm going to try to read it anyway without reading the second book.

I usually dislike series that continue on with different characters that were already a part of the first book or the book before it. It's a pretty weird pet peeve of mine. I think it's because I've already developed a judgement of those characters and am usually never interested in their story.

message 4790: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments See I am the opposite. I always had a problem reading a series based on the same characters. I am always worried the characters would get stale to me. Boy did I change my mind about that when I read Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux .

message 4791: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Haha, that must be an interesting series then, huh?

I also have to say that I try to stray away from series. It costs too much money to just keep going, whether it's the same character or not. But I finally figured out that almost every book out there is a series so I just have to deal with it! I wish the book would just be boom! Done! And you're totally satisfied with the ending.

message 4792: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments It was quite the series. It is m/m and oh so yummy. The characters are great. The characters names are Ty and Zane and there is a group on GR called Ty and Zane are like crack. I am totally a member and proud to be one of their minions. Ha ha!

message 4793: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Talking about m/m, there is a hint of that in The Iron Duke. I tend to avoid that theme, though, if I can.

message 4794: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am a big m/m fan. I tend to enjoy the characters more and the overall story than in m/f.

message 4795: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I am currently reading several books. Kiss and Tell (T-FLAC, #2) by Cherry Adair , The Fortune Hunter by Jo Beverley and Taming Jesse James (Outlaw Hartes, #2) by RaeAnne Thayne . The latter may be the worst book cover in history. But, the book is good.

I love that series. Julia Quinn is so wonderfully witty and sexy.

message 4799: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I agree about Julia Quinn! Love her. Anyone know of other HR writers humorous like her or Kleypas?

Krishawna, I loved Annie's Song! I hope you enjoy it.

I'm currently reading Chasing Nikki (Chasing Nikki, #1) by Lacey Weatherford . It's a YA with a not so happy ending so I'm bracing myself for heartbreak.
