What Are You Reading Now?

Jacqueline Seewald

Now i'm going to read,

I feel like I haven't chatting with most of you in so long, just know i'm thinking about you :)

Were you able to sight see?
Leea, I feel the same.

It is never ending, isn't it?

I look forward to hear what you gals think about this one. I thought book 1 was ok & my feelings were mixed when I was done with it.

It is never ending, isn't it?"
Live your life...the books will always be here when you're up for it.

What are you in the mood for? I'm actually a little nervous about Seduced because I'm not in the mood for a dark read right now. I'm still going to read it though.

Regina, you'll have more time to read soon. I'm sorry things are so busy you haven't been reading much. I hate having to give that little thing I love and enjoy up.
Kay, Ahh! Not again, dang it! What kind of book are you looking for?

Caitlyn, hope you get more time to read.

Were you able to sight see?"
Yes, it seems to have been jet lag. I felt totally fine after resting for 4 days. :) It's amazing how I never feel bad when I go to a place but when I return I always feel terrible! :)
Yup, I went on a tour of the city that took me around and showed me some spots plus the old city...but the traffic in Manila is HORRIBLE so it didn't feel as if I got enough for my money. Anyways, at least I can say I saw more than my hotel and the office!
I admire you Regina and all you ladies with kids...I really don't know how you do it!

Marcella, i'm so glad. I loved Max... How far into the book are you?
Seduced in the dark - um... this is like an emotional roller coaster. I love him, he's mean, I hate him... wait, I love him again. Yikes!

I finished

Now i'm going to read

Has anyone here read Slammed? I really don't know much about this book but that it's been going around GR For some time.
Oh, i'm also going out with a girlfriend tonight, super excited and looks like we're going to get our nails done, somthing I never do.

I have not heard of Slammed sorry.
R u gna join in the BOTM?

I started

I had started an arc

Tellulah this looks so interesting! My GR friends seem to either love it or hate it.

Were you able to sight see?"
Yes, it ..."
Yes that is always good to say when you have visited a foreign country (that you got out of your hotel, lol). I can't imagine the challenge of trying to sight see when you were supposed to be sleeping.

What did you pick? It seems like a few of us are sort of stuck. :)

I have a few ARC's i've requested that I need to read and then i'm not requesting anything for awhile unless it's a must read.
Yeah, Kay, what did you pick to read? I still want to find something we can read together but you've read everything. haha!
I have to tell you what happened yesterday: So my son G, 4 years old, loves legos. I'm making dinner, helping E with homework and I was also doing something eles that I cannot remember now (LOL!) I hear G run into the kitchen crying saying, "I have a Lego stuck in my nose.. MAMA." Well, i'm normally very calm but I took one look and saw that the white lego was really up his nose. I'll admit I started to freak out a bit and yelled at G to stay still. Which scared him a little (I still feel bad for that) When I couldn't get it out with my hands I got the metal tweezers and after a few tries was able to get it out. He jumped into my lap, saying, "thank you mama" and crying. OH. MY. GOD. It's never a dull moment around our abode.

Me too about ARCs, I am finding myself not liking arcs when I feel forced to read them. And then I am lagging behind on writing reviews.

I actually started the first few pages of Slammed while in my rut the other day. It seems ok but it didn't fit me at the time. Also, some of my GR friends loved it but they seem to rate 5 stars for everything. So, I'm looking forward to hear what you think, Leea.
I decided to read

I think I have some of those same types of friends, the ones who rate the majority of what they read high. It throws me off because then I don't know which books are better than others according to those people. I tend to trust people more who don't rate a big portion of their stuff 5 stars.
Slammed and Point of Retreat have actually both been out for a while, but they were put up on NG when a big publisher picked them up and decided to re-release them.
Buzz books tend to make me pause. Rarely do I find myself agreeing with buzz book hype these days. I am supposed to buddy read one next week and I'm trying to keep positive about it, so I don't go in with a sour attitude.

I read the first chapter and it's cute, love how Lake is remembering her father, that seems so natural how inanimate objects bring you back to a memory.

I think it must a be a boy thing - I don't remember ever doing something like that - but my husband tells me stories of eating dirt because he was curious what it would taste like (he wasn't a baby) and jumping off garages when he was older as initiation ritual for a club he belonged.
Huh? Who thinks that would be fun? Boys obviously.

To me, 5 stars is the highest rating you can give a book. The top of the line. A lot of books are great and I love them, but there has to be something about the book I'm giving a 5 stars (it really got into my soul) in order for it to make me want to give it the best accolade you can give.

I wonder the same thing, especially if they don't review book. I'm an emotional star rater. I'll admit that, books move me and sometimes i'll rate one higher than the other but I usually can give you a reason why.

For me, I just think no matter how high/low we rate books here, we should be able to do it without anyone giving us crap. I mean, reading is my hobby and sometimes it's the only that I have for myself, I just don't want to find myself questioning if I should rate something low or not because of the reaction i'll get.

“Readers have the right to say whatever the fuck they want about a book. Period. They have that right. If they hate the book because the MC says the word “delicious” and the reader believes it’s the Devil’s word and only evil people use it, they can shout from the rooftops “This book is shit and don’t read it” if they want. If they want to write a review entirely about how much they hate the cover, they can if they want. If they want to make their review all about how their dog Foot Foot especially loved to pee on that particular book, they can.”
― Stacia Kane

I feel the same way, Stacia. That's why I really wish we had half stars.

Ack, I didn't mean to come across as sounding judgmental. I support anyone's right to rate however they want to. I just know for me, that I have a hard time taking recommendations from people who mostly rate books 4 and 5 stars because I am pretty sure I won't agree a good portion of the time.

I was the same way and I've changed a lot of my ratings since then. Not all were downrated though. I've actually uprated books after realizing that I was still thinking about them, and downrated ones when I realized I couldn't remember much about them.

I didn't mean for you to think I was talking about you. I'm just so annoyed at the drama lately. Ugh!!!

Kay, I saw that quote on Twitter or something. Love it! So true and i'm glad that she's making that statement as an author. She's really awesome, I cannot wait fot the next Chess and Terrible book :)
