Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Also read Hollowland (The Hollows, #1) by Amanda Hocking which was okay and Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews which it turns out I've read before and had totally forgotten. Does the Kate/Curran relationship just build in steaminess?

Alrighty then. On to book 2. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I already commented on your review but you can blame me for the gut punches.

I just bought that one, I'm hoping to get to it soon. :)

Courtney | 337 comments Finally finished Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre ! A pretty good read, actually. It picks up halfway and makes you want to keep reading. There were some intense scenes in here, too. I kind of want to pick up the next book now.

message 4510: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Continuing on with the Anna Strong series Blood Drive (Anna Strong Chronicles, #2) by Jeanne C. Stein . Let's see how this goes!!

message 4511: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Courtney wrote: "Finally finished Wanderlust by Danielle Steel! A pretty good read, actually. It picks up halfway and makes you want to keep reading. There were some intense scenes in here, too. I kind of want to pick up..."

I'm glad it got better. I will get back to this book again someday.

message 4512: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I haven't read much at all this week. My brother and sister in law just left yesterday. they were staying with us for about 5 days so we've been busy. Now that they are gone, I hope to finally get some reading done again.

I started What Kills Me by Wynne Channing. It's okay so far but it's still too early to tell.

message 4513: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am way into Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh and Rock Chick Regret (Rock Chick, #7) by Kristen Ashley . They are just too good right now. I brought my Nook to work so I can read during my lunch break. LOL!

message 4514: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love getting lost like that in good books. You are so luck Marcella!

message 4515: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Well with the way work has been lately, I need an escape.

message 4516: by Leea (new)

Leea Marcella, haven't read much on our trip but were going to head home soon. So... I haven't read much. I'm so sorry but once I get home I plan to read more :)

message 4517: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments For those who have read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson ...do you think it's worth the time to pick up this series? I don't read too much mainstream fiction b/c sometimes it just seems to be over rated. I just watched the american version of the movie a couple of the days ago and really liked it. So, I'm just wondering if I should invest my time reading it.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Marcella wrote: "Well with the way work has been lately, I need an escape."

I totally feel you!!

message 4519: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay I loved it, but I don't think it is for everyone. I read a lot of contempory fiction and mysteries. I read the first two and loved the 2nd one more. Even saying that though, the first 50-75 pages are really dry and likely would have been edited out had the author lived. The story doesn't get going until after page 75 or so.

It has been just a really bad couple months here.

message 4521: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hmmm...okay. Thanks, Regina. I think I will move it up my list. I know that you read Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn ...did you like these books more or less? Or are they too different to compare?

message 4522: by Regina (last edited Aug 30, 2012 12:40PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) Very different to compare. Sharp Objects and Gone Girl are more pulpish fiction -- extremely fast reads, fast results and shorter books. And the main characters are not heroes in anyway. Dragon definitely has a hero/heroine fighting evil, those books are a very slow build and longer.

Both are extremely dark, which I like. :)

message 4523: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments thanks....i like dark!!

message 4524: by Leea (new)

Leea Headed home from the OC... It's been a long couple of days and I cannot wait to see my kids and hubby!

message 4525: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Have a safe drive back, Leea.

I found this article interesting: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/26/bus...

I'm thankful to have such great goodreads friends with real reviews that I trust.

message 4526: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Safe travels! Kay that is so disgusting! What the heck?!! That bothers me to such a high degree -- $28k a month?!

message 4527: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finished Endgame by Aguirre. It was a good. A great ending. :) I am trying to figure out where to go next since I have been in such a slump. I think I may avoid urban fantasy and paranormal romance (including YA) for awhile even my favorite series for a month or so. I need some reading magic back in my life!

message 4528: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I just finished Blood Drive (Anna Strong Chronicles, #2) by Jeanne C. Stein ...an ok, but fast, read. I decided I won't continue this series. There's really no chemistry with any male characters that the heroine comes into contact with that I can detect.

Have to figure out what to read next!

message 4529: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Courtney...if you like m/m I highly recommend Cut & Run (Cut & Run #1) by Abigail Roux . I love these characters. They are like crack to me...seriously.

message 4530: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Marcella - Nah, I'm not a m/m person, but thanks for the suggestion!

message 4531: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I decided on The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn because I haven't read historical romance in a long, long time.

message 4532: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "Safe travels! Kay that is so disgusting! What the heck?!! That bothers me to such a high degree -- $28k a month?!"

I find it disturbing that 1/3 of reviews aren't even real! Ugh...this is so disheartening.

I like Julia Quinn. I hope you enjoy it.

That reminds me that I need to read book 2 at some point.

Just finished the Dimitri and Rose story in Foretold 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction by Richelle Mead and I think I had a grin on my face the entire time. I'm so sappy for Dimka.

message 4535: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Ruthless (The House of Rohan, #1) by Anne Stuart Not sure. Rohan was sexy but it was so over the top in some ways - like heroine doth protest "no no no" while KIng of Hell toys and would twirl mustachio if he had it. It was all this way until suddenly it wasn't and now they love each other.

message 4536: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Stacia I didn't know about that anthology! I need to read it for the Richelle Mead and Laini Taylor shorts now!

message 4537: by Leea (new)

Leea I know, I need it NOW too. haha!

I'm Home... Now off to the Doctor for an already schduled procedure. I might fall asleep on the table. haha! I also have to work tonight and we have a packed weekend - Yikes! No rest for the weary.

I didn't read a word on my trip/home recon mission so I hope to crack open my Kindle today.

message 4538: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm not reading at all either, which is so hard when I'm 60% into Chasing Magic.

I'll have Sunday night and Monday to read.

message 4539: by Leea (new)

Leea How are you liking Chasing Magic? I couldn't put it down.

message 4540: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished What Kills Me by Wynne Channing and I really liked it. It's a bloody YA vampire read.

message 4541: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I am LOVING it. It's hard to not read, because it's weighing on me. I wish I could read more, but I'm eager to finish it Sunday night and Monday!

message 4542: by Marcella (last edited Aug 31, 2012 09:09PM) (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina...I'm watching Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and he just went to Chicago to some place called 90 Miles Cuban Cafe and it looks amazing. Have you eaten there? If not you have to go and let me know how it is.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Really enjoyed A Lady's Lesson in Scandal by Meredith Duran

I remember this one. It was so good and a very fun read.

message 4546: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Domino - I'll let you know how it goes! So far, it's reading like a typical Julia Quinn novel - light and humorous.

message 4547: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am (finally) watching One for the Money and am enjoying it. My husband is even laughing. :). It could be better but it is fun.

message 4548: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hey Regina did you see my post? Look at message 4569.

message 4549: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I missed that Marcella, thanks for posting again. That restaurant is about 10 minutes from my house (I am in Oak Park and that is Logan's Square) and I have never been there! I am definitely going to give it a try, I love Cuban food and it is hard to find a good place. There are two near me that are decent but not fantastic. Yuummmmmm, I want that now. I love that show but always seem to miss it, it is funny bc I like it and it annoys my husband. :)

But I will try to go in the next few months and report back with pictures. :)

So we enjoyed One for the Money -- even my husband did! Man, Ranger was smokin' hot.

message 4550: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm about half way through Rock Chick Regret and this book has taken a darker turn and is dealing with real issues and they are handling it so well.

One for the Money was a fun movie!
