Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm so excited for Gunmetal Magic, but I can't get it until this weekend. It's going to be awesome though.

message 3803: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm in such a funk. Reading a book has been like pulling teeth for the last week.

message 3804: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm starting The Ripple Effect (Rhiannon's Law, #3) by J.A. Saare today...I'm really excited since I love this author's voice.

I still need to read Magic Gifts (Kate Daniels, #5.4) by Ilona Andrews before I can start Gunmetal Magic.

I'm hoping The Ripple Effect will put me in a UF mood so that I will pick up Kate Daniels right after.

I've been feeling this way too.

message 3806: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay where did you get it -- I can't find it anywhere? Magic Gifts is so good!

DG, maybe you are too excited about your trip? Genre switch up and reading a classic always gets me out of a funk.

message 3807: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Wendy, I won't be able to start it for a few days either.

Gunmetal Magic? I'll email you the link.

message 3809: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I meant Ripple Effect, I found it on sale here: http://mundania.com/index.php I heard it will be up at Amazon soon ....... Gunmetal I believe is already on Amazon. :) Thank you!!

message 3810: by Leea (new)

Leea I just finished Unholy Ghosts - loved it! I mean, there are some holes in this book and parts were hard to follow but just like with Kate Daniels, I just kept reading. I cannot wait to read more and plan on continuing the series.

Kay, i'm now starting Thomas and Jan. I feel so bad, we've just been so busy with school starting. I hope we can still chat about the book though :)

Gunmetal Magic, I'd forgotten that was out today. I still need to read the previous short, but i'll be looking for that book once I get home from walking the kids to school.

message 3811: by Leea (new)

Leea I need to look into Ripple Effect, sounds like a good book and I love the title. lol!

message 3812: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay, you are a fan of the Disillusionist trilogy - -right? I remember you liking it alot. On Thursday Crane is doing a cover reveal and full synopsis for her new book: Mr. Real, I cannot wait for that book.

If you don't start, it's cool too. The book wasn't that great and I'm sure there are better books you might want to get to.

I love the Disillusionists! I can't wait to read more from Crane.

message 3815: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I remember you did! More people need to read that series! Such fun and happy UF.

message 3816: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I agree!! Plus, i feel like it's such an original too!

Is she revealing the cover to Mr. Real on your blog?

message 3817: by Regina (last edited Jul 31, 2012 10:06AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) Yes! She emailed me asking if we would want to do it, lol of course we want too!!!

message 3818: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments oh...that's so cool. I'll make sure to visit your blog on Thursday :)

message 3819: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Ahh, I'm so slow! I'm only halfway done with Unholy Ghosts. I really want to finish it so I can read something else.

message 3820: by Leea (new)

Leea Well, now I don't know what to do. I might read Hexed (Includes Kate Daniels, #4.5) by Ilona Andrews before I read Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) by Ilona Andrews . Especially since you're saying T&J was not that good.

message 3821: by Kay (new)

I'd skip T&J cuz it was just okay. So I say read Magic Dreams. And if you decide to read Magic Gifts (Kate Daniels, #5.4) by Ilona Andrews , I'll read this with you.

message 3822: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks Kay. :)

You can't go wrong with Kate Daniels! That cover switch at least made some sort of sense ....

message 3823: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Love Kate! I can't wait to get back to that story.

message 3824: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished The Fifth Woman (Wallander, #6) by Henning Mankell which was a very satisfying mystery. About to start The Sisters Brothers.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You'll have to let me know what you think of The Sisters Brothers. One of my good friends recommended that one to me and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about it but we seem to have similar feelings on books.

I read Magic Gifts already, some how I skipped Magic Dreams. We can always read Gunmetal Magic together, i'm going to read that after I finish Magic Dreams. I still need to get it but i'll start tomorrow for sure.

message 3828: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments So, I'm really enjoying, Columbine by Dave Cullen Although I feel like enjoying isn't the right world. The book clears up a lot of misconceptions about the shootings and cover-ups. You can tell that he spent a lot of time researching not just the incident but everything that occurred for about 4 years before up to 10 years after. He also doesn't group people together - It isn't the school system, the police, and the killers and the parents. Each person has their own identity, motive, flaws and faults and it's terrifying and heartbreaking. For those of you that have the book and have been waiting to read it, do... However be warned, It's depressing as hell. I wouldn't recommend you do it, if you are in a romance funk as I have been, because you want to have a lighter book to read before you go to sleep. :)

On that note, I did stay up until 4:30 reading this one... Wicked Game by Mercy Celeste I loved it. I was a little hesitant to read it because of some of the more negative reviews, but they were crazy talk. I LOVED the dialogue between the two characters and the touchy feely scenes were so hot. I thought the ending was a little cheesy, but when I read it again this morning I decided I liked it more. I'm a little bummed that all of her other books are M/M romance because that's not quite my thing. :(

so that's a lot of typing... i'll shut up now

message 3829: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Trapped (Iron Druid Chronicles, #5) by Kevin Hearne is on Edelweis. I am not a fan, but I know there are a lot of fans out there and I wanted to share.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Thanks Regina! I just requested it. *cross fingers*

message 3831: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I'll cross my fingers AND toes for you. :)

message 3832: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I love the audio of that series so it's waiting until November for me...sigh...

message 3833: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'll be waiting too. I'm trying to stay away from Galleys, plus that's one of my print series.

message 3834: by Leea (new)

Leea Dana, I deleted your post because self promotions are not allowed in this folder. Please repost it in the appropriate thread.

message 3835: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks Leea!

message 3836: by Leea (new)

Leea You're welcome :)

Finished Magic Dreams by Ilona Andrews , not sure how I missed that one while reading the Kate Daniels series. I'm so glad I read it, Jim and Dali were so cute. I just loved her and the end was perfect.

Not sure if I should jump right into Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels, #5.5) by Ilona Andrews , that would be 3 UF books in a row. haha! I hear it's really good... oh... alright. hahaha! Anyone else reading it?

message 3837: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am going to start in a few days. :)

message 3838: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm buddy reading Unholy Magic (Downside Ghosts, #2) by Stacia Kane with Wendy Thursday so I better finish Gunmetal by then. haha!

My kids are already in bed and my husband is still working. Looks like 1st grade is making my oldest really tired. His day was much improved today, which is good because he was upset that he got in trouble for talking the first day. Such a classic 1st kid. haha!

Hey Ali, I enjoyed Wicked Games by Mercy Celeste it just the right amount of naughty fun. I was also bummed about the author writing mostly m/m stories.

message 3841: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (caitlynj) Reading Witi Ihimaera's The Uncle's Story for my class Reading Contemporary Fiction. I'm enjoying it but feel rushed because I need to do a presentation on some of the themes in 2 weeks and will need to re-read in that time too.
So in contrast I read Cat Of A Different Color (Halle Pumas, #3) by Dana Marie Bell and think I'll go with some historical romance with Untamed (MacKinnon's Rangers, #2) by Pamela Clare .

message 3842: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't wait for Gunmetal Magic! And Magic Dreams. I'm going to start those this weekend.

I'm excited for Unholy Magic too!

message 3843: by Leea (new)

Leea Caitlyn, the MacKinnon Rangers are a huge favorite of mine. Hope you enjoy, Untamed.

I'm about 7% into Gunmetal Magic, Andrea is so kick ass. She's like a little 5 foot 2 ball of bad ass. Haha!

message 3844: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) How have I not noticed those MacKinnon books before. They look good...

message 3845: by Leea (new)

Leea I have no clue, you'd love them. Pamela Clare has them well researched and honestly they remind me of Outlander, not so detailed but more background that some HR.

message 3846: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yeah, they look really good! And only three so far, lol. I'm going to have to find those and give them a shot.

message 3847: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments is anybody buying the installments of the new Beth Kery book? Because You Tempt Me (Because You Are Mine, #1) by Beth Kery kinda pricey for 60 pages... But I hear it's really good...

message 3848: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments side note, I'm REALLY starting to get tired of books being advertised as "if you like 50 shades" or "what to read after 50 shades" especially books and authors who've been writing for awhile, or authors that I consider my "go to" or trusted authors... It makes me almost NOT want to read them.

That's not a "50 shades" rant honest, it's more of a love all of the colors of the rainbow rant... at least I think it is.

Awesome Regina! That's one of my fave books ever in the whole world :D

message 3850: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kit -- did you continue on in the series? I already have #2 reserved at the library for me. Not sure why I couldn't get through the book the first two times as now I am loving it.
