Leea Yeah, i'm taking a break from them too, Tellulah. Lee and Indy's book just had me laughing so much, the others not so much. Ally's story will be book 8 :)

I finished Forever Mine (The Moreno Brothers, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes - it was okay. Something was missing but I really want to read about the other characters. So, I plan on continuing the series.

Now, i'm finally starting
Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) by Kristen Ashley , I know you ladies are not a fan of KA but i've enjoyed this series and can't wait to see where they characters are taken.

Stacia - I love you liberating lacy review. haha! Oooh, they guys on the strangers cover is smokin' hot!!

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments I've only read one Kristen Ashley book... or tried to... Heaven and Hell by Kristen Ashley I couldn't get past the dialogue. It drove me crazy...

message 3653: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I really wish I had better luck with K. Ashley. So many people love her but I didn't care so much for Rock Chick #1 and couldn't make past a few chapters of Mystery Man. I will try another book by this author before I give up but just not right now.

I'm stuck right now...not sure what to read. I'm off to search for a contemporary.

message 3654: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Kay... I've heard good things about this one More than Meets the Ink (Bowen, #1) by Elle Aycart Have you read it? I was thinking about starting it...

I'll break for a while and see. Maybe I'll feel differently in a few months. :)

message 3656: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Ali, I haven't yet. Only a handful of my GR friends have read it. Half of them gave it 4-5 stars, the other half gave it 2 stars or DNF. I've been apprehensive but it sounds interesting. So, if you read it, you'll have to let us know if it's good or not.

I decided to give
Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis a go. I tried reading this a year ago but wasn't in the mood. Hopefully this time I can get through it.

message 3657: by Leea (last edited Jul 25, 2012 09:07PM) (new)

Leea I keep seeing the Lucky Harbor series around, everyone loves it! Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

Sorry you didn't like KA books. I'm grateful you gave them a try, they're not for everyone.

Sofia (fivesunflowers) | 15 comments Currently indulging in Misery by Stephen King and even though I started Life of Pi by Yann Martel , it has not kept my interest as much. I don't abandon books I have already started so I will definitely be making my way back to it, but I am LOVING Misery!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'd love to try something else by King, since the one book I tried didn't do it for me. Since I know Wendy liked IT, I might fit that one in for October, which is when I try out more horror reads.

message 3660: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments What book of King's did you try Stacia? I read 11/22/63 by Stephen King and loved it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Marcella wrote: "What book of King's did you try Stacia? I read [bookcover:11 22 63] and loved it."

I got about halfway into Dark Tower and DNF'ed it. I wasn't seeing the similarities to Lord of the Rings as much as I'd hoped and the book itself sort of dragged. That was one of his first books though, so maybe he wasn't in his writing groove yet.

I'm curious about More Than Meets the Ink. Several of my friends loved that book and gushed about it, while a couple of my friends hated it. It appears that there aren't a lot of middle ground opinions, which of course makes me even more curious as to which side I would fall on...

I have one friend in particular who has messaged me a few times after she discovers she hates a book and tells me to read it. I don't know if she wants someone to take her side or if she wants me to write a scathing review, heh. I still haven't figured it out!

Finished Forever Mine and it was okay but I will continue on in the series because I've read and liked other books from this author. I chalk this one up to being average because it's one of the author's first books. The side characters have me interested enough to want to try book 2.

message 3662: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Well if you are willing to give King another try I highly recommend 11/22/63 by Stephen King . The book is long and there are some parts that were boring but overall the story was very unique, the characters were very likable and I was highly entertained. I think you should give this one a try. I have the book if you are interested.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I might try some others out after I finish IT. I was also sort of looking at Under the Dome by Stephen King because I like post apocalyptic books but I'm also sort of leery because I heard that King sort of went off on a not-so-subtle anti-political and religious agenda.

message 3664: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I wouldn't necessarily say that about this book of King's. After the book, he gives an explanation on the research he's done. After reading that I really don't feel he had any sort of agenda. I thought the story was very thoughtful and creative. He took the facts and came up with an interesting conclusion. I am not a big fan of King, but I really enjoyed this book.

I have that in audio...I'm planning to listen to it one of these days.

message 3667: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I do too.

I have heard really good things about the Dark Tower or is it Gunslinger series. I started it, wasn't liking it, but I have been told to push on, so I do plan on it sometime. I also have 11/22/63 in audio to listen to someday.

I enjoyed The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King

message 3668: by Pat (new)

Pat Sad to have to quit another book....I know life is too short to fight with something you are supposed to enjoy or love...but I'm really in a bad stretch for reading material! Hide Me Among the Graves by Tim Powers Not a fan of vampires and this is just an ordeal for me to wade through!

So now I'm back to my current favourite time period! Hope I'm not disappointed... Flame Of Resistance by Tracy Groot

It was wonderful! I loved it so much. It's hard to get through the beginning, but once you get to the meat of the story it's hard to put down.

message 3670: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved these It by Stephen King and The Talisman by Stephen King .

I'm going to read 11/23/72 as my next King book. I've heard really great things.

Stacia, my friend is a HUGE King fan, and she was disappointed in Under the Dome.

I read Life of Pi about ten years ago and I loved it. I almost named my cat Richard Parker! (but he's not orange and honestly, not very ferocious at all)

Have you seen the move trailer? I believe it's coming out in November? I added the book to my "to read" pile again

Regina (reginar) Oh cool!

message 3673: by Leea (new)

Leea Reading Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane , I'm in such a dark mood today. I want damaged, dark and deep right now. Thanks to Wendy for the idea.

I'm putting aside Breathe for now. Too much sweet for my mood. haha!

message 3674: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea! What a coincidence! I just bought that book two days ago at Half-Price with the 40% off coupon and I'm so excited to read that and Queen of Shadows (Shadow World, #1) by Dianne Sylvan , which I also bought recently.

message 3675: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I hope you enjoy Downside, Terrible & Lex...Leea and Wendy. It's one of my fave UFs out there!

message 3676: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I hope you enjoy it!!! I love me some Terrible.

message 3677: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I've heard so many good things about it, and I've had it for a while. I need some good UF now that I'm caught up with Fever/BDB/Kate Daniels and Georgina is over!

It was between Unholy Ghosts/Grimspace/Shadow Reader.

message 3678: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh, Grimspace is amazing too!!! And it ends in August.

message 3679: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jul 26, 2012 01:55PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I need to get back to Unholy Ghosts at some point. I tried two times to read it and got stuck at the halfway mark. But with as many of you who seemed to love it, this means I should have probably pushed on.

Grimspace is on my very, very short list. Hopefully in the next two weeks.

Started Drowning Instinct by Ilsa J. Bick . I heard it's really good.

message 3680: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love the cover of Drowning Instinct.

Unholy Ghosts is hard to acclimate to, the world is a drop you in type of thing and the language is odd. The first (like so many) is weaker.

message 3681: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I was seriously debating with Grimspace. Ended up going with Unholy Ghost because I like Kane's blog, haha.

message 3682: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kane has an amazing blog - I love so much about her! Her attitude is great.

message 3683: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I loved Grimspace! I have the sequel, too, so I should get ready to read that.

Finally finished The Hostage (Great Chicago Fire Trilogy #1) by Susan Wiggs which was so different from all those typical historical romances that I've read. I liked it. Took me a long time to finish since I started school.

Now I'm going to read Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane since everyone is talking about it and I just bought it 2 days ago!

message 3684: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith this morning. I try to read at least one classic per month so this month I've decided to read The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper.

Yeah, you are dropped right into the world and the way Terrible talks was confusing me. Honestly at first I thought I had a bad ebook copy, lol! Like some words were missing. haha!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Someone actually thought this would be a good title for a book? Did anyone else immediately think something dirty?

message 3687: by Ali (last edited Jul 26, 2012 11:14PM) (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Oh lord... I laughed so loud that I woke my husband up... He looked at it and said that's "riCOCKulous" and insisted that I type that.

BTW, that's some suggestive hand placement...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It doesn't help that they're in a position that looks like they're about to get it on.

message 3689: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments well... they are coming soon - not later...

message 3690: by Ali (last edited Jul 26, 2012 11:17PM) (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments and really Stacia, they did put the "do not disturb" sign up, so we ARE intruding :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You're right. We are just sleazy voyeurs who were wanting to overstep our permissions.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina, D.G...have either of you read Perfume The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind ? I know you two tend to read non-romance as well. I just picked up a copy of this and am curious. This looks like it could be interesting.

message 3693: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments that was funny... almost want to read it now.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I gotta get me a man who can rock a yellow turtleneck.

message 3695: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments I really hope that it was a camel colored t-neck and something bad happened during printing and... no, i'm sorry - I can't make it better.

I just have to wonder, if he's the forbidden one, What does the permitted twin wear?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I didn't think of that. Yeah, if a yellow turtleneck is what the "dangerous" twin is wearing, I'd hate to see what the "good" twin is wearing.

message 3697: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Oh gawd, those covers are horrible! LMAO!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You mean you don't want to get it on with gold turtleneck guy?

message 3699: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Ummm....no thanks! Hahaha. These series romances already have cheesy covers but these are just too cheesy.

What are you doing awake, Stacia?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Can't sleep..sigh. I'm laying in bed surfing the net on my Nook.
