message 3602: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LOL, I just saw that in a magazine cover!!

message 3603: by D.G. (new)

D.G. They are both soooo even below average. I don't know what's the deal. In that pic, they both look drunk.

That she is!! ahahahha that's just too much she is sooo butt ugly though why would anyone want to be with her.

D.G. I got a response in the Feedback group - they were unauthorized copies so the ebooks have been deleted.

message 3606: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Holy crap!!!

message 3607: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Wow!! There were a lot of downloads too!

message 3608: by D.G. (last edited Jul 25, 2012 12:10PM) (new)

D.G. So it seems that GR hasn't been monitoring this feature as faithfully as they should. I think they should just disallow this function for librarians.

And I just checked the thread and people have started posting other books, asking if the copies are legal. 8-0

message 3609: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I agree, GR should -- they are opening themselves up to liability. An author/publisher could sue so easily and then where would we all be? LOL -- without GR! It seems like a silly oversight.

Regina (reginar) Ali wrote: "I've noticed that a lot of romance readers read YA. I'm starting to think that maybe I have the wrong idea of what YA is..."

There are so many good YA books, YA is a super popular marketing category right now. Many books written in that category appeal to adults and are not neccesarily written only for children/teens. What types of books do you like and we can give you are faves?

message 3611: by Ali (last edited Jul 25, 2012 12:25PM) (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Recently I've been reading a lot of contemporary romance. I liked Bared To You by Sylvia Day and almost anything by Megan Hart and Beth Kery. I did not like the Fifty Shades series. sorry :(

My favorite Paranormal authors are JR Ward, Kresley Cole, Nalini Singh and Larissa Ione and I LOVED the Midnight series by Emma Holly.

The only YA i've read is the Twilight series which I did like... BTW... I was sad to read that Kristen Stewart cheated on Rob Pattinson. I had a HUGE crush on him after I saw Twilight... until i discovered I was 5 years older then him, then I just felt like a dirty old man.

P.s. did you see this? Kristen Stewart Sorry For Sucking Face With Old Human Instead of Young Vampire Boyfriend http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/...

I think they both clean up well. Rob is attractive more because of his personality than looks. He is hilarious.

Agreed. He has a very laid back, relaxed sense of humor. Like he isn't afraid to laugh at himself. At least that was the sense I got, when I read/watched "a few" of his interviews back when I though he and I had a possible future together, and I semi- stalked him online (in a casual sort of way, nothing creepy of course :)

message 3615: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments LMAO Ali! I saw him in interviews as well and I got the same impression about him. He is very laid back and laughs at himself a lot. I also noticed that he is a little self-depracating.

message 3616: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I like Rob, I think he's attractive and sweet in interviews. I can not stand K Stew though. She always looks like she smells something stinky.

message 3617: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I like Rob too. There's just something about British accents that turn me on! French is another! ;)

message 3618: by Gwennie (last edited Jul 25, 2012 01:11PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Hmmm, I do like a good british accent. But my most favorite accents are either Boston/Mass (Kay, I think you get why, haha), and Scottish.

message 3619: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I love British (London, more specifically) and Irish.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I never realized they were a couple. I doubt it's real if this is the case. Often, the publicists link together movie stars in a relationship as a public front just to get publicity, such as the case with Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron when they did I am Number Four together. Within a month of the movie release, they were no longer a couple. That was a made-up relationship to get publicity for the movie.

I'm only about halfway into our book Kay and Leea. Sorry about that. My husband had a rare day off yesterday so we spent time together for a good portion of it. It was completely unexpected, so I wanted to take advantage of the time.

message 3621: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments When you read a book with a character with a foreign accent do you read/give him an accent? I never really noticed it either way until I read the IAD series by Kresley Cole. Her Lykae wolves were so scottish that I started "reading" with a Scottish accent. It made the story so real to me, now I try to do It with all foreign characters. Sometimes, I get so good at it, I think I can actually do it for real...but it always comes out sounding like some country twang...

message 3622: by Pat (last edited Jul 25, 2012 01:37PM) (new)

Pat Don't know about the accents, but while enjoying Susanna Kearsley's The Winter Sea all I could hear and see was Gerhard Butler!!! Yum! ;) The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley

Sometimes I do hear it in the foreign language but not that often. I think it's easier for me to read faster if I don't.

I love Cole's Lykaes. Yummmm!!! All the immortals are pretty delicious!!

I have about 12% left to read. It's picked up and it's okay but I'm scanning the page, not reading every word at this point. I'm almost more interested in Sofie and Eric and V and Alex at this point.

I hope we plan on reading the rest of the books... just to see what happens.

message 3628: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jul 25, 2012 01:56PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'd like to at some point, just not right away. Maybe the next one in a couple of weeks.

I still have half of the book. Yesterday was pretty much a wash. I'll try to crack down this afternoon.

message 3629: by Kay (last edited Jul 25, 2012 02:11PM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea & Stacia, I'm more interested about the secondary characters too. I am planning on reading more. So, I'm down to read it together if you are!

message 3630: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Sorry, which books are you all discussing?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) This series Forever Mine (The Moreno Brothers, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes . We've read her adult series 5th Street, which was good (at least the first book was really good, the second was just okay).

I've heard that the Moreno Brothers gets better and better with each book. I think the last couple of books are more adult in content.

message 3632: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments The Moreno Brothers. Stacia, Leea and I are reading this one Forever Mine (The Moreno Brothers, #1) by Elizabeth Reyes now. Well I just finished it this morning.

message 3633: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I like her books so far. I just keep hoping that I will meet another Alex Fuentes. *sigh* I haven't found one that compares.

message 3634: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jul 25, 2012 02:03PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Funny, I had thoughts of Perfect Chemistry too because it was a set of hispanic brothers who will be featured.

So far my new favorite series featuring brothers is this one : I can't stop talking about it because it's so much fun. Storm (Elemental, #1) by Brigid Kemmerer I felt like these books are a breath of fresh air in a genre that's been bogged down with too much angst and pining. The prequel is free right now and is a good read too. I read it before reading book 1 and it got me excited for the series Elemental (Elemental, #0.5) by Brigid Kemmerer . Ignore the craptastic covers. The covers are terrible but don't reflect the books at all (writers don't usually get to pick their covers anyway).

And the author is such a sweetheart, which is a bonus. She's very respectful of not intruding on reviewer space (at least not for her own books), which made me gain a lot of respect for her.

message 3635: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Those sound like interesting books. I've added it to my list.

message 3636: by Leea (new)

Leea That cover - remember all the comments in the YA-MA group. LOL!!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Shhh...it's okay. Come with me to Heaven.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Tonight, I'm supposed to start an old school book that might be dark/taboo.

Has anyone read this? I think it's out of print now. The Silver Devil by Teresa Denys

message 3639: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Stacia - I got my hands in the first book in the Elementals series but like you, switched to the UK cover!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I had to change the cover! Even I have my limits!

haha, the artist took the title literally. He looks like father time :)

message 3642: by D.G. (new)

D.G. YIKES!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It is a scary cover. I know absolutely nothing about the book but got talked into reading it. Maybe it will be interesting. I'm curious if it's a true taboo or if it's just an older bodice ripper type of book.

message 3644: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments if i didn't read books because of crazy covers.... there are tons of Elloras Cave books that I love that have the most hideous covers.

Here are two that i just read recently that I would not have picked if not for the recommendations...

Liberating Lacey
Strangers

Oh lord and this one... I remember trying to imagine what I would do if my husband walked into our bedroom with these on...Fetish now that I think of it, I don't think he ever actually wore these...

message 3645: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments pooo! why didn't the covers post?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Okay, I don't usually post my reviews but I sort of had fun with the cover comparisons for Liberating Lacey : http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I actually like the cover for Strangers but I have a crush on that male model. He's on a ton of book covers.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ali wrote: "pooo! why didn't the covers post?"

When you add book/author, you need to select the circle at the bottom that says cover.

I actually read your "Liberating Lacy" review after I finished the book. It made me laugh out loud. I didn't realize that was you. :)

I confess Liberating Lacy and Strangers are my two favorite books I've read this year... well, maybe throw Naked by Megan Hart in there too.. but i've been in a rut...

You are killing me...really? You don't want to read Luke's story? He is one of my favorites. I think you are missing out if you don't read them. The guys are all unique and great in their own way. Give them a chance.
