Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments just finished Dead Reckoning. i liked the humor but i'm starting to get bored with the plots. just not as exciting anymore.

now reading The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton . this is my first for this author. and still listening to Kitty Raises Hell. i received It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips too so i'll be happily busy reading =)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Domino...I loved the Play by Play series. I really enjoyed the characters and the sex is wowza. The story in the first is a little rough but I thought it was still entertaining. I look forward to your thoughts.

message 3453: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments thanks Marcella. glad to hear the sex is wowza and the characters are fun. i'm looking for all that right now after reading Sookie. hehe.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Then this series is perfect, IMO. Enjoy!

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments You are welcome. ;-)

message 3457: by Annette (new)

Annette I am reading Wild Heat by Bella Andre and Trial by Fire by Jo Davis

message 3458: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments So, I finished my re-reads of Judith McNaught's historicals. It was just the fix I needed.

I started & finished Forever by Judy Blume this morning. I read this when I was 11 years old and I wanted to re-read it to see how I'd feel about it now.

I'm thinking about starting Article 5 (Article 5, #1) by Kristen Simmons . I'm not sure yet.

message 3459: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Okay. Finished Rock Chick Redemption (Rock Chick, #3) by Kristen Ashley I liked Roxie. And thought that Jules set up for book four introduced in a really fun way. So looking forward to that.

message 3460: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Jules was my favorite Rock Chick.

message 3461: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Today I finished Rock Me (Ross Siblings, #2) by Cherrie Lynn . I've never read about a pierced hero and it was intriguing to say the least, LOL! If it weren't for the heroine, it would have gotten a higher rating.

Then I started a freebie Slave To Love by Nikita Black which has been surprisingly good! But I need to stop reading it and pick a 'demons' book for the Bingo game.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I saw your review and agree with it. Even though I rated Rock Me higher than you did and really liked it overall, it was only because I loved how fun it was (the road trip, the concert, the tattoo shop location) and the sexual tension was good. However, Candace is one of my least favorite/most TSTL heroines I've ever read. She really is that bad. I wish there was a way the author could go back and rewrite Candace in that story. I loved so much of the story and the sex and Brian himself but the drama and Candace was so awful!

I get why everyone's feelings about the book are all over the place.

Finished Trafficked The Terrifying True Story of a British Girl Forced into the Sex Trade by Sophie Hayes . It was such a sad but meaningful story. The narrative fell flat at times but the message was powerful.

message 3463: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments Marcella, i'm halfway through The Perfect Play. i'm loving it. at the rate i'm going i'll finish it tonight =)
i love Mick and Tara. they are such great characters. i'm dying to see what Mick's big secret is.

I'll be curious to see what you think if you go through with Article 5. I had decided to pass on that series because there are so many other dystopia/post-apocalyptic books I want to read that have been better received, so I decided to let one go. If you end up liking it, I might reconsider, since I trust your opinion.

message 3465: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Yay I'm so glad Domino. I hate it when I rave about a book and the person ends up hating it. I have the other 2 books if you want to continue with the series.

message 3466: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia...I decided to put Article 5 down. I read some reviews that dissuaded me. I ended up picking up Tempted by Megan Hart . I'm going to give another one of her books a chance. This author doesn't write the standard fluffy romanticas so I am prepared for any crazy feelings that she will make me feel! LOL

I loved those things about the book too, Stacia. It really had tons of thiing I've never read in a romance which I found refreshing..that's why I rounded up instead of down - I should probably edit my review and mention that. But i hated the Candace character so much that ever since I read that book I've been fantasizing of a story where the hero is been jerked around by a woman and while this woman is playing games, the guy finds a woman who blows his mind and the first one is left in the dust.

message 3468: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Domino you are very right about the Sookie series.

Wow you all were busy! I was hiking with the kids today (I brought Luis and he sat at the clearing waiting for us.) It was so good for all of us. then we were at my parents, it was a very good day. Now for a margarita!

message 3469: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so glad you had a good hiking tip. What a great idea!!

Had my friends baby shower today, it all turned out amazing. Just glad the she was happy and the whole thing is done so I can relax tomorrow and read :)

just finished the book and i'm like crying cause it's over. i thoroughly enjoyed it. it was like the perfect novel to read. it had a great plot, great characters, awesome sex scenes and kept me entertained the whole time.
i'd definitely love the other two books. thanks so much! i'm really interested to see Gavin and Liz take a turn. i'm curious to see what her deal is and how Gavin will romance her. hehe.
and u know the whole sports aspect didn't detract from the story at all. sometimes i stay away from sports romance cause authors over use sports lingo, but Burton didn't do that (thank God).
i'm really glad i started this series =)

message 3471: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments i'm on a great book high and don't want it to end. i'm starting It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips next. i hope this plot is as good. this is a first for this author too.

message 3472: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments That's such great news Domino. *sighing with relief* I will send the books in the morning. Gavin is quite yummy. I think his book was better than Mick's. I will look forward to your thoughts on that.

Annette Marcella wrote: "That's such great news Domino. *sighing with relief* I will send the books in the morning. Gavin is quite yummy. I think his book was better than Mick's. I will look forward to your thoughts on that."

I agreed with you I love the cover of Changing the game and the story is better than Perfect Play. Gavin is so naughty and I loved it. One of my favorite sports romances.

message 3474: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments True Annette...I thought there were rough spots in Mick's story but the author really improved with Gavin's story. This was my first sports romances and I loved it. We did Mick's book as a group read on this thread. I believe a lot of the girls didn't care for his book. I decided to continue with the series and glad I did. I told the girls they have to continue. I hope they listen. Lol!

message 3475: by Annette (last edited Jul 22, 2012 10:02AM) (new)

Annette Yes they should it's a juicy read. I can't wait for Playing to Win its supposed to drop 9/4/12.

message 3476: by Cookie (new)

Cookie (cookie8) Hey everyone - Just finished "violets of march by Sarah Jio which i thoroughly enjoyed. I've just started "Whisper of Evil" by Kay Hooper - didn't know it was the 2nd in a series so once I finish I'll have to check out the first one from the library. As you can see I read a little of everything.

message 3477: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am not getting any notifications. Boo.

message 3478: by Leea (new)

Leea I've been having a hard time finding time to read the last week. Now that things are calming down I hope to have more time to read. I'm really excited that Breathe (Colorado Mountain, #4) by Kristen Ashley will be released Monday.

My older brother is in town so we plan on taking the kids into the City (San Francisco) tomorrow for the day. So another day without being able to read - ugh! Unless we take Bart into the city, then I might be able to read a little bit? We'll see. Ha!

message 3479: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That sounds fun though, what will you see?

message 3480: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm listening to On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews , which I'm enjoying. I had started it a couple of times before but I never could get past the beginning. I'm glad I pushed through now though.

Although I'm almost a halfway through and they haven't even kissed! Sort of slow in that regard.

message 3481: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments Marcella and Annette, i'm even more excited to read Gavin's book now.

message 3482: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading by Stolen: A Letter to My Captor Lucy Christopher and now I'm a few chapters into Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Stolen was an interesting book.

message 3484: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina wrote: "That sounds fun though, what will you see?"

We're going to take Bart into the city and we plan on just walking around. Taking a trolly ride, letting the kids go to Golden Gate park, maybe walk Golden Gate Bridge (we've never done that and my oldest is obsessed with bridges). Just kind of low key, we will have a 4, 6 and 8 year old that's autistic. You know with kids, you never know how long they will last. It's more about being together tomorrow.

Kay and Staica, we're still going to buddy read Forever Mine Tuesday? Just checking :) I'd like to point out that I remembered - that's progress. haha!

message 3485: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments yes, I'm still free to read Forever Mine on Tuesday.

Have fun in the City, Leea! The weather should be nice.

I finished reading Tempted by Megan Hart and it was ok. I'm definitely going to read the next book just so I can find out more about one of the characters.

Definitely slower than her Kate Daniels series. I think #1 was the slowest in this series, I really liked #2. I still need to read #3 -- the romance was definitely a slow build!

message 3487: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I got Into the Dreaming (Highlander, #8) by Karen Marie Moning . Bad enough it turned out to be a bunch of "special features" kind of stories. But there was this excerpt from a Fever based graphic novel and Mac was this totally enormous boobed muscle chick!! Yuck!!!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I stopped after number 7, so I never read that one. Guess I didn't miss anything.

Finished The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn and I liked it, although it took me almost half of the book before the story started to get interesting. The second half was good though.

Yeah, I was firmly in the ok category for Tempted. I think Hart just isn't the author for me.

I haven't really loved her books. I have a ton of them but I just cannot get into them.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Hart?

message 3492: by Leea (last edited Jul 22, 2012 10:42PM) (new)

Leea Yeah. Heart, sorry.

GR is messed up... haha!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've read 2 of hers and tried to get into a 3rd and realized I was trying way too hard. She and I just don't mesh well together.

message 3494: by Hayley (new)

Hayley Stewart (haybop) Currently reading The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux and Les Misérables by Victor Hugo
(I started the first as a brief break from the second, yeah - great break that one, really feel like my mind has rested ;P)

After reading this book, I'm definitely excited for her Kate Daniels series. I already have it on hold in two of the libraries.

I wish the book were more steamy but I'm really liking both characters.

message 3496: by Leea (new)

Leea With the Kate Daniels series it's a slow build though several books, but it's worth it.

I've forgotten about The Edge series, I need to read those :) Glad to hear you liked them.

This no notifications thing really sucks!

message 3497: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hart isn't for everyone especially since most of her characters are effed up in some ways which results to some not so great endings. I do love her writing though and how she pulls me into the story and her sex scenes are hawt!

Stacia, I'm glad you enjoyed Julia Quinn. Her books are light, fun reads and I always know what to expect when I pick up her books.
