Leea Wendy, I love that we tease each other about books we want the other to read. it's fun!! I just think you'll really enjoy the story and I agree with Kay, I like Jamie and Claire as a couple better. I can't go into why, until you READ THE BOOK!! hahahaha!!

Stacia, ohhhh... might have to read that one soon. I have it already on my Kindle.

BTW, today I had 3 moms approach me at my sons preschool asking me about the Fifty Shades books... what am I the smut guru. OMG, how embarrassing. My girlfriend was giving me such a hard time. *shakes head*

Leea Wendy F wrote: "Was it love at first sight?"

Yes, it was in a way. It's a beautiful scene.

message 3353: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LMAO, that's hilarious! People come to me and ask me about it too, and I haven't even read it.

I really don't mind that you guys tease me about it. I'm just joking. I'll read it eventually. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Wendy F wrote: "Was it love at first sight?"

I think it was deep connection at first sight.

message 3355: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Interesting. I'll admit that the quotes in your review made me more interested.

message 3356: by Leea (new)

Leea In Tatiana & Alexander you get Alexanders POV with reagards to their first meeting. It's amazing! I agree that they have a deep connection at first sight.

We'll wear you down, Wendy. lol!

TBH has the best quotes, just reading them can make me cry.

message 3357: by Pat (new)

Pat Have a fairly lengthy list of WWII/Holocast novels to enjoy...I've started The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman . So far, it seems this will be a quick but very sad read. It's such a difficult period to immerse myself in, book after book. I need a 'lite' break inbetween to breathe! I loved Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum and highly recommend. But again with the qualifier....it will break your heart!

message 3358: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jul 18, 2012 03:40PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Those look good. :) My favorite WWII fiction so far is Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys because it told a side of WWII that we didn't know much about.

Perhaps it's too late for this shower but your posting reminded me of a genius idea I saw this weekend on Pinterest....instead of using a greeting card with your gift...bring a book for the little one...won't get thrown in the trash almost immediately and who knows....you might make a bookworm out of the little one! :)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments what's this book u guys are talking about with the acronym TBH? i'm interested cause u guys say it's like Outlander. i really enjoyed Outlander.

message 3363: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The Bronze Horseman (Tatiana and Alexander, #1) by Paullina Simons is the book we're all talking about.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The Bronze Horseman (Tatiana and Alexander, #1) by Paullina Simons

The story is very different from Outlander. The books are mainly compared because of the big romance.

OMG... I can hear something scratching inside my wall. I'm freaking out. Might be a mouse or something. I have goose bumps and it's really messing with my mind right now.

Okay, total random I know. lol!

Julie (gpangel) I am currently reading How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire (Love at Stake, #1) by Kerrelyn Sparks and A Fool Again (Duchess Quartet, #1.5) by Eloisa James and will start Ghost Moon by Karen Robards after I finish these.

message 3375: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I finished reading Rock Chick Reckoning (Rock Chick #6) by Kristen Ashley , which was such an emotional read. Now I am reading Something About You (FBI / US Attorney, #1) by Julie James for a group read. I also have to start Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost for another group read. I need to get my butt in gear.

message 3378: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I finished Tell The Wolves I'm Home A Novel by Carol Rifka Brunt which is YA, it was so intense. I cried so hard at the end. It really is beautiful. It is about sibling relationships, supporting people while they die, overcoming prejudices (AIDS during the late 1980s) and being an oddball in high school. It is such a good good book.

I just started Broken Harbour (Dublin Murder Squad, #4) by Tana French and it is even better than her previous 3 -- I think it maybe darker. It hits off right on the first page. Amazing, Tana French is so talented.

I am in the middle of A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy, #1) by Deborah Harkness and I wish I could DNF it. It is truly the Twilight story for adults but Twilight was better. I hate when the hero/boyfriend turns into a dad insisting that the female eat and sleep when he thinks she should and he treats her like a child in everything. And the details are so irrelevant and over the top. The first 30% of the book was fabulous but not it is dragging. But I can't dnf it since I am reading it for bingo and I have already read over 300 pages. This book is so long.

message 3379: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Man Regina, now I want to read Tell The Wolves I'm Home. That book looks so beautiful.

message 3381: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Ooohhh! I'm glad to hear Broken Harbor is so good! I was thinking of getting the audio but as I'm planning to at least start it in Dublin, then it might be better the get the ebook.

message 3382: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Sounds like the perfect setting to read/listen. :)

message 3383: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I know! I already have an ebook in Lisbon ready. :)

In other bad news, I had a Summer Friday tomorrow but now it turns out I'll have to come to work. And I'm so freaking tired!

message 3384: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Summer Fridays rock, I wish I got them -- so sorry you are losing yours. :(((((

message 3385: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments What the hell is a Summer Friday?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by CJ Roberts and liked it as much as Comfort Food. The story was a bit more personal in that you got to know the man as well.

Me too. I'm dying to read that book. I haven't been able to get The Likeness out of my head since I read it. Love love love.

message 3388: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I would love to do a re-read of the Likeness. But I am purposely waiting, I want it to be fresh when I do. God I love her writing. Stacia Kane is a fan of Tana French.

message 3389: by D.G. (last edited Jul 19, 2012 01:54PM) (new)

D.G. Marcella wrote: "What the hell is a Summer Friday?"

A Friday off in the Summer. :) I've always had them as benefits but they were set up differently. In my last job, we just had 4 Fridays off during the Summer (this was in addition to my usual vacation days.) But in this job, we work an extra hour Mon-Thurs during the Summer and we get to take a Friday off every 2 weeks. I prefer this because I usually work longer hours than 9-5 anyway.

Oh I'm definitely not losing mine, I'll just use it later. I cannot take it next week because it will be my coworkers's turn and then the following week it will be my turn again so most likely I'll just 'apply it' to my vacation.

message 3390: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Is that like an East Coast thing? I know some people here her work 4/10 hour days so they can have Friday's office but never heard of what you have. Lucky girl!

Are you going to Dublin, Ireland?

message 3391: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Marcella I think Summer Fridays don't exist in law firms -- or are hard to come by in law firms. :) I know of businesses in Chicago that do it. My current firm offers early dismissal for secretaries on fridays in summer on a rotating basis and I know of one law firm that has fridays off entirely during the summer (super small estate and trust law firm).

message 3392: by Leea (new)

Leea I have never heard of Summer Friday's relating to a day off. Must be an East Coast thing :) Sounds awesome D.G. Sorry you'll miss the day off but hope you get another soon. It would be great for planning along weekend away.

After 2 days of not reading a word, which makes for a very cranky Leea. I finally got to start Defiant (MacKinnon's Rangers, #3) by Pamela Clare and WOW! I'ver really missed reading Pamela Clare. This one jumps right into the action and I love it. Don't worry you're not lost.

message 3393: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I think it's more of an industry thing. I know it's a common perk in a lot of Advertising Agencies (that's where I worked last). Not sure why they do it in this one though...maybe because it's a European company.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I hadn't heard of it as a summer thing either. I know of the 4 day/10 hour thing, or working extra so you get every other Friday off but not only as a summer type of offering.

Starting The Duke And I (Bridgertons, #1) by Julia Quinn which will be my first Quinn book.

That is too bad. I could use an extra day off from this hell hole.

Leea The Bridgerton series is light and very funny. I enjoyed them, hope you do :)

message 3397: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Marcella I want to win the lottery so bad. I guess I need to play -- I think that is my ticket out.

Leea -- I need to start that book! Glad to know it is a hit!!!

message 3398: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Yup, in both companies I've worked it's only during the Summer. It's also offered as a yearly perk, meaning that they can take it away if they deem it necessary. But I've had them in the last 8-9 summers.

message 3399: by D.G. (new)
