Leea What book is this? Haha, Sorry!

message 202: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LOL, it's called Rain Fall. The narrator is half-Japanese like the main character in the story so now I'm imagining that the MC looks like this guy! (Even though the main character is supposed to be older. :)

You should see the trailer. It doesn't give much away but it is pretty exciting.

message 204: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I'll have to look it up!

message 205: by Laura (new)

Laura | 131 comments Marcella wrote: "Oh I remember now Leea. Looks like a should have done a re-read too. Lol!

Have you ladies seen the trailer for The Host?"

Only bad thing about this book is that it took me 11 or 12 chapters to actually get into it!!

message 206: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Laura...at the time I read it I just getting back into reading and I don't think I was quite ready for it. It was interesting to me but I didn't have the mental faculties at the time to try and keep up. I am willing to give it another try.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I liked The Host. It does take about 100 pages to get to a point where you're not scratching your head...but once it gets going the book gets good. A lot of the book takes place in underground tunnels and what not which makes it interesting.

It's nothing like Twilight. At all. Don't let that be a deterrent. I wouldn't have even known it was penned by the same author.

message 208: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I tell that to everybody too, Stacia (about not being AT ALL like Twilight.)

And yes, now that I think about it, it took a while to get going. I liked the end so much that I never thought about the beginning.

message 209: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I think that was my problem...I didn't go beyond the 100 pages.

message 210: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I can never give a book 100 pages, maybe in exceptional circumstances will I give it that much time. Like Kushiel's Dart I knew that it was a book that I would eventually love and love the series. Or the same with a Girl with the Dragon Tatoo -- I knew it was a really good series that I wanted to read. But usually the most I will give a book, especially now is between 5 to 10%, if I am bored I will drop it.

Funny thing, when I started Twilight I didn't like it. I put it down. I read the first chapter. I thought the writing was meh and just didn't like Bella and didn't care. I only pushed through it because of local pressure, then I ended up getting hooked on the story even though the writing still bothered me.

message 211: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) A Wild Justice I am almost finished with A Wild Justice by Gail Ranstrom. Very entertaining! I love historicals with hot romance, and a good mystery, plus a strong independent heroine.

message 212: by Leea (new)

Leea Finished Lover Reborn... Loved it! Now I have no idea what to read after that. haha!

message 213: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Me too! I finished and I loved it!

message 214: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I keep seeing these reviews of Lover Reborn and it is so hard to keep from reading them! But I am going slow. I know that pain of leaving behind a good book for a long time (I felt that way just a few weeks ago when I finished Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs ) that I am purposely dragging this sucker out.

I am done with Tomorrow, When the War Began (Tomorrow, #1) by John Marsden it was such great fun! 3.5 stars and I am definitely going on to #2. But I will be reading #2, in the end the narrator started getting on my nerves. So I am not sure what to listen to yet, but as DG knows all to well (hahaha), I am sure I have an audio book laying around here somehwere. ;)

message 215: by Leea (new)

Leea Avoid reviews... I couldn't help myself lol! I'm going to start Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs

message 216: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I definitely will! Enjoy! :) I thought Hunting Ground was the weakest in the two series. But Fair Game is one of the best out of both series so it is worth it to keep going. :)

message 217: by Leea (new)

Leea I tried to read it a few weeks ago and it didn't grab me like the other books right off, so i'm giving it another try.

message 218: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am in the ER with my 8 yr old right now. He has a gash in his forehead. :(

message 219: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, I hope everything is okay. Thinking about you :)

message 220: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) oh no! I hope everything is okay.

message 221: by Sunny☼ (last edited Mar 29, 2012 08:18PM) (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) I just started Untamed, Western Ties, and Touch of a Rogue I also just bought Lover Reborn. So glad to hear that one was not a disapointment. It cost big bucks.
Hope your 8 yr old is okay Regina and that you both have book to read if your emergency wards are like ours.

message 222: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Poor little guy. I hope it's not too serious, Regina.

So, after finishing Lover Reborn, I can't seem to find a book to read to fit my mood. It seems like I go through this dilemma twice a week!

message 223: by Sunny☼ (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) So Kay, what is your present mood? Been there. I know as soon as you post your mood it will already have changed...at least mine would.
I am guessing after Reborn a couple of short fillers might be in order. A bit of down time.

message 224: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I don't know what mood I'm in. LOL I don't want to read anything vamp related bc I know it can't top Lover Reborn. I do want some sort of romance. Maybe contemporary or historical.

message 225: by Sunny☼ (new)

Sunny☼ (sunny2) Lori Foster's A Perfect Storm is just out.
The last book in Mari Carr's Compass brother series is out. So you could read just it or the whole series Western Ties.
There are some contemp's.
or
for historicals
Mia Marlowe's Touch of a Rogue promises to be a historical with lots of twists.

message 226: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, Sunny. Mia Marlowe....i might try and search for her books. If i don't make up my mind, I will just go to sleep early (9:30p PST) bc I was up at crazy hours last night reading Lover Reborn.

message 227: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) 7 stitches along his hairline! But we are home.

I say sleep. :) It is what I am going to do!

message 228: by Leea (new)

Leea How did he/you do? I bet he'll have a great story to tell his friends at school. You need wine and then bed, Doctors orders:)

message 229: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) Glad he's ok, Regina! :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Glad everything worked out okay Regina. Sitting in emergency rooms is such a crappy way to spend an evening.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Julie wrote: "A Wild Justice I am almost finished with A Wild Justice by Gail Ranstrom. Very entertaining! I love historicals with hot romance, and a good mystery, plus a strong independent heroine."

I always wonder why they number the Harlequin and other publisher books with numbers when they're not really a series. I guess for tracking purposes?

message 232: by D.G. (new)

D.G. How terrible, Regina! I hope he's not in too much pain now.

I hope you didn't spend too long in the ER.

message 233: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I just went crazy and requested 8 books from the library (in print) that neither of my libraries have available in digital form.

I really hope they don't get to me all at once!

message 234: by Leea (new)

Leea Ha! I hope so too DG.

Anyone else not know what to read after Lover Reborn?

message 235: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It could have been worse, a total of 3 hours. It was a deep gash at his hairline. He was playing tag on the playground (my husband was "it"!) and he tripped and hit his forehead and it went in deep. It was a rough night.

message 236: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I don't really know why the Harlequins number their books. In all honesty I only read the thicker historical ones. ( Regency, Victorican, Medieval)I don't think those are numbered. I suppose it's some kind of system.

message 237: by Kay (last edited Mar 30, 2012 10:02AM) (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm glad he's okay, Regina.

So...OT, I bought this ebook on Amazon but I want to read it on my Nook Tablet. Does anyone know how I can convert it to epub? PM me, if possible.

message 238: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Is it indie published? If so, just try to convert with Calibre, it may not have DRM. Only the publishers use DRM.

reading this made my skill crawl... I'm so glad he's okay.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) There's something about cuts that require stitches that do the same for me too Leea. When you see all that blood it freaks you out.

My older son got bit by our dog when he was young and he had a huge hole going through his lip. I'm surprised that you can barely see the scar now.

I wonder too if titles repeat as they put out so many so tracking may just be it.

Thanks Leea. I can't get it out of my mind right now - his screams and begging for it to be done. I think I am finally reacting to it. I kept thinking about how Claire did these procedures in outlander without meds - it was still hard and scary with meds.

message 243: by Leea (new)

Leea It's not the blood or any of that, I'm at my best in a crisis situation believe me. It's that he fell while playing and we have not control over that... It's the uncertainty. We can protect our children from so much but a lot is left up to fate.

message 244: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea, I know. My son is super graceful and athletic too. Life is so random.

How is Hunting Ground progressing?

I have had 2 margaritas - my husband poured without me asking. I guess he thought I needed it. And I am much more appreciating BDB, I think I was just tired. ;) although I am still not that interested in the dialogue of the BoB even though I like and appreciate the storyline.

message 245: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, Regina that sounds terrible. I've been there and it's the next day that I usually break down.

Well, i've only read for like 10 minutes earlier and then fell asleep. lol! I've been so tired. Hunting Ground (view spoiler) It's not grabbing me, not sure why. I can't stop thinking about Lover Reborn.

We're about to head to our favorite mexican joint and i'm not driving... they have these huge margaritas and i'm going to have 2 :)

message 246: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I decided its about time I started reading more classics so yesterday I started reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë by Emily Bronte.

message 247: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I reread that last year and loved it. It is a slow start but very rewarding.

message 248: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I finished Pandemonium and of course it finished as I expected so I ended up giving it a 2- stars. Grrrr...

I also finished How to Be a Villain: Evil Laughs, Secret Lairs, Master Plans, and More!!! which I enjoyed very much.

Now I'll continue listening to Rain Fall (John Rain, #1) by Barry Eisler until we get the Bingo announcement.

message 249: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading a few books right now

by audio: A Bad Day for Pretty (Bad Day #2) by Sophie Littlefield

And by text: Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates Gardens of the Moon (Malazan Book of the Fallen, #1) by Steven Erikson

message 250: by Leea (last edited Apr 03, 2012 08:26AM) (new)

Leea Oh, I can't wait to hear your take on Revolutionary Road. We read that for our book club and then later saw the Movie. It's a great book club book because so much to discuss.

The Bad Day series covers are so funny! Might have to give those a try, they look funny.

D. G. I have Pandemonium but I can't bring myself to read it. Does it end in a cliff hanger?

Wendy, we going to read The Defiant Hero next? Or you want to wait?
