I just looked at Regina's review and it looked like she was more displeased with the narrator than the story itself?

Well, I don't know, I loved the boys. A toss up between Mark and Smite. I adored the fact that they and the books are so different.

I had planned on reading Turner at some point because a friend had recommended it to me but I can't for at least a week, so I'll just have to check out what you guys said about it. I have stuff scheduled up through next Tuesday that I can't push off now.
was...different. I have it at 3.5 rounding up to a 4 but I might drop it to a 3 after some thought. I was not thrilled with the last part of the book.
Stacia, can still read Redhead #2 tomorrow? Siren was different for me too. I did enjoy it but can't say that I was blown away by it. (view spoiler) I don't know if she put that in there to surprise people. That all just didn't sit well with me. Also, I didn't feel happy when I finished the book and I rated it 3 stars.
The more I'm thinking about it, the more I think I'm going to drop it to a 3. The book was well-written but some of the decisions that were made didn't sit well with me.
Oh and I'm still able to do redhead 2 tomorrow. I probably won't start until the afternoon because I'm finishing up a group read but once I start, I'll probably breeze through because I promised Crystal we'd start Gentleman Bastard on Thursday.And no, I don't want to cancel. Redhead will be a fast and fun book, which is perfect before I start GB.
Regina, I'm guessing you're probably unable to do it but you'd said to let you know when we'd decided on Gentleman Bastard in case you were interested.
Ok, cool. We'll start Redhead 2 tomorrow. I'm interested to hear Leea's opinion of Siren when she's done. People seem to really love it...it may be b/c it is different from other books of the topic.
I can't start the Turner book till next week anyway. Let me know if that works for you Kay?The Siren - I'm struggling to finish and it's a 3 star book right now for me. I honestly think it's just a load of crap (Sorry, my filter i broken toda) using those taboo subjects in order to make it this dark read. If Nora had been more likable, maybe I could have connected with her but I can't. She's so damaged.
I really just want to finish this book and review it. What sucks is I have to post my review on Netgalley and it's going to be negative. Ugh!
I actually didn't mind Nora as much because some of her attitude reminded me of my early 20's. I would have been the same way with Wesley. Although, at age 33, she should be starting to grow up by now...Zach's story was long and drawn out. Soren drove me batty.
I can't say more because you're not done yet.
Dang it. I meant to read the first redhead book. Oh, well. I can't wait to hear what you think of the second book.

Stacia thanks for letting me know. I would be doing audio, I may or may not be ready on Thursday.I am listening to the audio of The Painted Veil and it is fantastic. I am routinely surprised by books published in the early parts in the 20th century. The book is about a woman who despises her husband but is caught having an affair with an older married man. Her husband then threatens her to either get divorced or accompany him (he is a doctor, they are in China) to a cholera outbreak where she must assist him. It is really intense, I have no idea where it is going or how it will end.

I think the author may have been drunk, lol, and tried to figure out what was the most far out angsty/taboo things ever! I do like taboo, but haha that is, wow. Having been raised catholic and gone to catholic school and still being catholic, I gotta say - -I have never met a hot priest. I was friends with a young man when I lived in Italy who was studying at the Vatican (he was not yet a priest yet, I don't think he took his vows yet) -- he was from my hometown and there on a special study thingee. Anyway, he would share with me how hard it was (eek) to be celibate. He is still a priest and a very good one from what I hear. But I always thought that was inteersting. I also knew a priest at my high school who "ran away" with his secretary. But even these guys who acknowledged temptation were not swoon worthy. I guess not that this matters if we are talking about merely exploring the concept of taboos.I wasn't planning on reading it, only b/c I didn't have time, I have too many books to get to. Thanks for sharing. I definitely won't be reading now. My blogging team member loved and and the other one dnfed it. Sounds like a book that is striking different people in different ways.

! It definitely was steamy. I'm now liking the book but the heroine still bothers me. The author does a great job of making you dislike her.
Finished The Siren and it was just okay, I honestly didn't like it very much and felt that controversial parts were put in more to shock the reader. This book was compared to My Fair Lady and I honestly didn't see that at all.Next i'm going to start Out of Control tomorrow with Wendy. I can't wait, I need something light and sexy after The Siren.
I hope you ladies enjoy it. Out of Control starts with a sexy bang. And includes my favorite couples.

The o..."The convenient discovery of the box where there were (view spoiler) was very unrealistic and a sort of lazy way to tell the story. That was a great story to tell too, it should have been told better. But the sex scenes were great.

LOL. I know, that was never explained. :) Especially since they were only snippets of those very painful moments that made everyone else look bad.
I think some of it might have been touched on again in book 2 but I really don't remember either. It's been so long.
And btw...the old cover is so bad. It looks like a retro sex ed picture where they're explaining the fertilization of a woman's egg.
That is interesting Stacia, my library has the audio (and the narrator is different), I may give it a try then.

At his insistence, we found ourselves lined up on the stairs like the New Kids in their Step by Step video.
I laughed at that part. Especially because she kept referring to the entire experience (going to a movie premier) as similar to prom. Right after, she said something about the only difference being that there wasn't a Vanilla Ice song playing in the background.
