How did you like it, Laura? Full of drama, huh?"

Yes super full of drama, there was something new at every turn, and some of it was pretty unbelievable. What saved it for me was that I really liked the characters, they were well developed.

message 102: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I need to start Wool! I got the first 3 books when they were all free.

message 103: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) They are very quick reads. Surprisingly well developed too.

message 104: by Leea (new)

Leea I love it when the FREE books are good! Bonus :) I can't wait to read them.

I finished Sugar Creek (Destiny, #2) by Toni Blake and I really just couldn't connect with Rachel. There was a 'Stiffy' and a 'Trouser Snake' yeah, i'm not kidding. I do plan on reading the next book but i'm going to read The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann first.

message 105: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Trouser snake? Yikes!

message 106: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hahah...Leea. I read that book so fast, I didn't notice those weird terms. LOL

Good luck with Troubleshooters #1. It was a DNF for me. I don't have many of DNF just b/c after I invest my time, I feel bad about not finishing something. But for some reason with #1, I just couldn't take it anymore. LOL

I finished reading Dirty by Megan Hart and I liked it a lot more than Broken. This author seems to write about issues that are just not what I'm use to reading in romance. I guess that just separates her from other authors for me. So, b/c of that, I will be reading more of her books in the future.

message 107: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I couldn't get over those terms. They just made me laugh.lol! That and the Bedroom eyes, please! I don't mean to bash the book just those terms and I do plan on reading the next book.

Kay, i'm so happy to hear Dirty was better then Broken because I DNF Broken. I have the next book, someone said it follows Dirty?

message 108: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Leea....Domino wrote in message 78 about Megan Hart books. Thanks for that, Domino!

I don't know what to read next. I just can't wait to read Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward so whatever I read next, I hope to finish it before Tuesday.

message 109: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh yeah! I wasn't sure if that was in the old thread. Thanks Domino :)

Well, I have Reason Enough ;)

I just finished Whisper Falls (Destiny, #3) by Toni Blake and I liked it more than Sugar Creek but I feel like i'm trying to find the instant love I found in the Colorado Mountain Series by Kristen Ashley... Time for a break away from Chick lit, haha!

message 110: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Ha...Leea, I'm actually searching for a contemporary now but don't want to read Kristen Ashley just b/c that series seems so long.

I finished Dead to You by Lisa McMann which I didn't like. I started reading Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia but couldn't get into it. I may try again some other time.

I saw Hunger Games last night and liked it! Although, I did think the acting wasn't so great at times.

message 111: by Leea (new)

Leea Ha! I know that Colorado Mountain Series is long but you really don't notice, they are fast reads. I want to read Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley series. Has anyone read them?

You couldn't get into Poughkeepsie, I know that a few friends didn't like it. I loved it.

message 112: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading Wool 3 Casting Off by Hugh Howey The Return Man by V.M. Zito and listening to First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones The Magicians by Lev Grossman

Both of the audio books have widely different reviews, but I am really liking both so far.

message 113: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm about 20% into The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann .

message 114: by Leea (new)

Leea How do you like it so far? I'm 9 Pages in. Lol! I just got back from the hunger games. Awesome!!

message 115: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Yay! Glad you liked it!

My daughter went on Friday with a friend and loved it! She sat behind a freak of a person who kept yelling at her (even though my daughter was actually not talking). This woman even yelled at her to stop kicking her chair and my daughter was sitting on her legs at the time! Sorry for OT.

Remember it is OK to say 1 and 2 is not good for you. :D

message 116: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) What a dick! That sucks, it probably made her trip not so fun. I loved the movie too.

As far as Unsung Hero, I think you kept warning me that 1 wasn't so great that I was anticipating something way worse. I'm actually not minding it. I'm almost a quarter into the story and it's not bad. I like it waaaay more than An Unforgettable Lady, which also dealt with a similar story (meaning, ex-seal and rich lady). That one was sooo disappointing. I think, unless it takes a dramatic turn for the worse, it'll end up a solid 3 star book. Good enough that I'll definitely keep reading. I have a few things that bug me. Like, I'd really like to get to know some of the other Troubleshooters, so I'm ready for other books. Or, I'm frustrated that Tom hasn't figured out that (view spoiler). I mean, I guess I could be wrong, but it makes sense. I feel like if I can see it, he should be able to too. But mostly it's good to read, I like the characters and how realistic they feel. But the part I really like is (view spoiler)... anyway, those are my thoughts so far. Leea, only read when you are at 20%, hahahaha.

message 117: by Leea (new)

Leea Dang spoilers... grrr Wendy! I already like the way the seals banter and talk to each other.

That sucks about your daughter. People are just rude. I went with my best friend and we talked the whole time, we were those annoying people. Mainly because she's pregnant and i've lost my mind so we forgotten so much. I thought they did a great job!

message 118: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's only 2! hahahahaha. And they aren't anything that I don't think you'll feel too, in case you want to just read them.

I liked that too. They way they banter. I have a feeling I'm going to like that about them.

message 119: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Your three comments are what many people wanted in this book! I remember that discussion of An Unforgettable Lady and I have to say that was what kept me from reading it. :)

She still had fun, but she did come home and cry about it. It was her first time experiencing truly mean behavior ever in her life -- I guess she is one of those blessed kids who haven't even experienced bullying yet. It was hard for me. My husband was so pissed!

I cannot wait for Lover Reborn!!!

This is the type of movie that if you want silence -- then it shouldn't be seen on opening night. I hate to be harsh about that though .... damn I bet this was a fun movie to see with a girlfriend!

message 121: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Part of the reason we go to midnight showings, or opening weekends is to sit in a packed theater with other die hard fans and be silly and loud. It's the only time that I like going to a movie and enjoy when someone shouts something out! That person should have gone to a day show, or waited a few weeks until the heat died down. She was the rude bully!

I'm not surprised that those are the biggest issues. I feel like i"m not getting a sense of the team, but overall it's not as bad as people were saying. THe characters alone make it better. I like Charles and Joe too.

message 122: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm just kidding about the spoilers ;)

I would be mad too if that happened to my boys. I know as parents we have to turn those experiences into something that they can learn from but it's still hard to see your child upset. Especially since you can't do anything about it. But comfort her. Our theater is in such a small town and usually on Sunday everyone is at church so it's empty but it was packed.

It was a great movie to see with a friend. We kept laughing because we love Gale and we were swooning over any scene with him in them.

Tom and Kelly just ran into each other after 16 years. I love that Tom has flaws, like his receding hairline. Makes him more human, IMO.

message 123: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I like that too! I mean, at first I kind of wrinkled my nose because it was so surprising. You don't normally see that in a romance. But I ended up really liking it, especially his jokes about it. It kind of reminds me of St. Clair's shortness.

message 124: by Leea (new)

Leea I read the spoilers... I agree about the celebrations - hello! I'm wondering about David and Mallory... He seems to be stalking her and although he's sweet and all it;s a little creepy. Not sure what his deal is?

message 125: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) See, interesting, because I didn't really see it as creepy. I saw it as sweet. When he left her the soda, it was just so thoughtful. My worry is that he'll eventually make her start caring about him, and then something will happen to him... I think she's going into the Navy, but what's going to push her to finally do it.

message 126: by Leea (new)

Leea Well he's sweet now... now that we know he's not stalking her for her hot rocking body. lol!

I agree with you Wendy, something is going to happen to force her to join the military. I like that it's this larger group of men (sounds like the SEALS are all men, but there's a women that wants to join them.) I'm interested to learn more about them.

message 127: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So I ended up starting Kiss of Crimson (Midnight Breed, #2) by Lara Adrian for the PNR-UF shelf (bingo game.) I wasn't sure if I was going to continue that series because it's so much like the BDB but the BDB books have become as long as encyclopedias and I really don't feel like reading them. Also I don't like that the series has lost so much focus on the couples - I think Nalini Singh has done a better job of balancing the romance with the overall story arc of the series.

I'm also starting I've Got Your Number A Novel by Sophie Kinsella on audio. I was supposed to be working on the audiobooks already on my iPod (some have been there since July of last year!) but that one came up and just seemed like exactly the audiobook I was needed. Sigh...but I promise that after this one, I'll work on one of those old audios!

message 128: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So I started I've Got Your Number A Novel by Sophie Kinsella and in the first freaking paragraph the narrator says nucular instead of nuclear. You've got to be kidding me!

Then and there, I decided to switch to ebook so instead I started Rules of Attraction (Perfect Chemistry, #2) by Simone Elkeles .

message 129: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Where are you at Leea?

message 130: by Leea (new)

Leea D.G... I almost spit my coffee out... that's so funny! Reminds me of someone ;) I wonder when that book is written?

Wendy, maybe we should move over to the Troublshooters thread...

D.G. Leea wrote: "D.G... I almost spit my coffee out... that's so funny! Reminds me of someone ;) I wonder when that book is written?"

The book just came out, Leea. But it's not the author's fault. She wrote "nuclear" (yes, I checked.)

And this narrator is British!

message 132: by Jen (at last!) (last edited Mar 26, 2012 07:57AM) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) I'm in so many groups and I think this thread is in every one of them. So, those who have read my other posts ignore this one. lol

I'm currently reading Texas Glory (Texas Trilogy, #2) by Lorraine Heath by Lorraine Heath and a YA novella Shadows (Lux, #0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout by Jennifer L Armentrout.

I'm loving them both!

message 133: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) DG that is hilarious.

I feel odd b/c I am really enjoying the audio of First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson, #1) by Darynda Jones -- I seem to remember DG and Stacia were not hot on the series.

It is nothing mindblowing like Downside Ghosts, Fever, Kate Daniels or Mercy but it is fun. I love Lorelei King. It is funny bc I keep meshing Mercy/Stephanie Plum with the main character Charley b/c the narrator for all three series is the same. and the voice of Charley's dad is the same voice for Adam in Mercy and Morelli in the Plum series. Reyes is of course Ranger. :)

message 134: by D.G. (new)

D.G. There were just too many wisecracks for my taste. Although I enjoyed some parts enough that I read the second book. That's when I decided not to continue.

message 135: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I used to live in Albq. so I also love the location. The wisecracks are definitely the mainstory line, but I am enjoying King's delivery of them right now.

message 136: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Did you read or listen DG?

message 137: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Listen to both.

message 138: by Leea (new)

Leea First Grave did try to be too funny. You could just tell in the beginning it felt forced IMO. If you plan on moving on with the series Regina, I'd like to read the next 2 books. I believe they're out already. I know I have #2.

message 139: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay -- I will let you know. ;) Right now I am enjoying it, but I am probably not even 25% in.

message 140: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I have 2 and 3 of the Charley Davidson series, I will pick it back up too, whenever you guys do.

I liked it, I laughed, but I also thought that after the first few chapters the snark just got to be overkill. It's the difference to me in Kate Daniels, with Kate's smart mouth... and well, Charley, lmao. I started expecting it and felt myself rolling my eyes instead if snickering.

message 141: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) You nailed it Wendy. Kate Daniels has a smart mouth but her books are set in a really complex and richly developed world. Charley has a smart mouth and the series seems fun, but it isn't richly developed at all. The concept is pretty simple ... or it seems so far. But I gotta say, I am still enjoying it! I can't wait until I finally actually meet Reyes!

message 142: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I enjoyed it when I was reading it too. I definitely liked it enough that I want to keep reading!

message 143: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Cool, I can look forward to buddy reading with you and Leea.

message 144: by Leea (new)

Leea You'll like Reyes! He's a complicated character. Well said, Wendy! I miss Kate Daniels snarky mouth... I miss Curran too :)

message 145: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I miss Kate and Curran too. I love those guys.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Leea wrote: "First Grave did try to be too funny. You could just tell in the beginning it felt forced IMO. If you plan on moving on with the series Regina, I'd like to read the next 2 books. I believe they're ..."

That's what I felt also. I only liked the book for Reyes. I don't know if I will ever pick up number 2.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Just finished Faking Faith by Josie Bloss and I'm not starting anything new because I'm waiting for Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward . I'll just work on half finished projects.

message 148: by Leea (new)

Leea I finished The Unsung Hero (Troubleshooters, #1) by Suzanne Brockmann and I liked it. I know everyone said it was lacking and I agree, parts were cheesy and dated but I felt like the storyline was good. I can't wait to continue the series.

I'm also very excited for Lover Reborn. Yay!!

message 149: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I finished reading Beast Behaving Badly (Pride, #5) by Shelly Laurenston . I loved it.

I am currently reading Bound By Nature (Forces of Nature, #1) by Cooper Davis . I have been so in the mood for m/m. Hopefully this won't disappoint.

I saw the Hunger Games on Friday and loved it. I thought it was very true to the book. I am was happy about that. The acting wasn't that bad. They served their purpose. Stanley Tucci was AMAZING in it!!!

message 150: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Guess what I'm reading? Lover Reborn (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #10) by J.R. Ward ....surprise, surprise. LOL I'm so thankful that I'm working from home today which means I'm not really working but reading. ;)I can't wait for everyone to be done so that we can discuss.
