Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin and it was very good in a dark way. I'm going to be extremely excited to see what happens in book 2.

Starting Unraveling by Elizabeth Norris and then will probably get to Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day afterward.

message 903: by Leea (new)

Leea So many people are reading Bared to You... Love the cover :)

message 904: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Apr 23, 2012 03:32PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Haha, I hate it! I've never liked romance/erotica covers that look too sexualized, even though I like reading erotic content!

I know I'm the oddball though.

message 905: by Leea (new)

Leea I have a thing for backs... I just find them sexy. I normally don't like those 'Sexy' covers.

message 906: by Aestas Book Blog (new)

Aestas Book Blog (aestasbookblog) | 7 comments I'd say Bared to You (Crossfire, #1) by Sylvia Day Is easily the best book of 2012 so far!

message 907: by Leea (new)

Leea Harvest Moon (Virgin River, #15) by Robyn Carr ... it's amazing how Carr can take this long series and make each book different. I mean, they're all about romance but each character is so unique. Different ages, lifestyles, backgrounds.

Right now i'm enjoying how Carr writes each sub-chapter from each person POV. Sometimes this drives me nuts but not the way she's doing it. Not long chapters but a few pages and it's a continuing storyline.

message 908: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Me too Leea. And I am amazed how she can break my heart in every single gosh darned book!

I am also reading #19 -- and I honestly cried at parts in the beginning when the heroine was remembering her childhood.

message 909: by Leea (new)

Leea Is #19 really the last one? I'm going to be do sad

message 910: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) For at least 8 months anyway. Well, #20 is another Christmas book to be released in December 2012. So yeah. :( I am hoping it is up on netgalley in the summer, she tends to put them up there pretty early.

message 911: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So I went to my first appointment to have laser hair removal on my legs and it hurt like a bitch (at least the parts close the bone, like my ankles.) My thighs weren't bad though.

I'm taking a break from reading tonight. I just didn't feel reading or even listening to an audiobook in my commute home so I just watched some videos on my iPad.

message 912: by Leea (new)

Leea I have never done laser hair removal. I would love to do my bikini area but I wonder if it would hurt. Is this your first time D.G?

Regina, I wonder if how many books she'll write in this series? How is #19... still good?

Harvest Moon, I'm loving the humor in this one. How Lief and Kelly make their past heartbreaks no so bad. That's going to come back later in the book. Also, Courtney's friend... Her parents, I can't remember who they are but I feel like there is a story there.

message 913: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Leea wrote: "I have never done laser hair removal. I would love to do my bikini area but I wonder if it would hurt. Is this your first time D.G?"

Yes, it was my first time, Leea. The woman said it would get less painful with each procedure.

It hurts less than waxing and only in places where a bone was close. I didn't feel anything on my thighs at all but the area where the leg transitions to the foot was painful because there's a lot of bone there.

message 914: by Carina (new)

Carina I want to get laser on my mustache! I hate it...No no no. I DESPISE it....
I'm a whimp though, so if it hurts, I will probably keep putting it off, haha.

How many sessions do you have to attend DG?

message 915: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Don't say mustache, Carina! Upper lip! (LOL!) Yup, that's next in line for me. :)

They say you have to attend 3-6 sessions. I bought 6 sessions for my whole legs for a good price with a Groupon so if I see results after 3 sessions, I'll change to some other body part.

message 916: by Carina (new)

Carina 3-6, that's not so bad. But since my "upper lip" is somewhat....bushy, haha, it might take all 6!

message 917: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Carina wrote: "3-6, that's not so bad. But since my "upper lip" is somewhat....bushy, haha, it might take all 6!"

You're terrible, LOL!

Whatever you do now to take care of that problem, the laser removal will hurt a lot less. I have mine threaded and that hurts like hell.

message 918: by Carina (new)

Carina It was fine, until before XMAS when one of my sisters removed it with some cream. Now I have to keep doing it. =/

But if my "upper lip" takes so many sessions, can you imagine how many it will take for my bikini area Ladie Area. Yikes! Haha!

message 919: by D.G. (last edited Apr 23, 2012 07:07PM) (new)

D.G. Carina wrote: "It was fine, until before XMAS when one of my sisters removed it with some cream. Now I have to keep doing it. =/"

I'm sure it's not as bushy as you think. :) I had to start threading mine all on my own because it was noticeable once I hit 30. Before that, you could barely see anything.

Aging is a bitch I tell you.

message 920: by Carina (new)

Carina Haha, so I keep hearing. That's why I'm not going over 25, lol!

message 921: by Leea (new)

Leea I agree... D.G. at 33 I'm noticing some dark hairs on my upper lip - WTF?!?!? haha! I keep asking my friends if they can tell and so far i'm just paranoid but I know soon i'll have to wax or something.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I get a few and I pluck them but it hurts like a bitch. The area is super sensitive compared to my eyebrows. I don't even feel when I pluck my eyebrows anymore.

message 923: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I feel my eyebrows...but then if I didn't thread them, they would almost cover my eyes (seriously...if I didn't thread my eyebrows, I almost wouldn't have any lids.)

message 924: by D.G. (last edited Apr 24, 2012 06:40AM) (new)

D.G. So are we starting White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black today or tomorrow? I'll probably just take it to work anyway just in case. :)

ETA: I need to finish the book I'm listening before I tackle this one. I just realized they both deal with con men and I can't read similar books at the same time. I get confused, LOL!

message 925: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I just finished Daring the Highlander (The MacLeods, #2) by Laurin Wittig . It was really good. Short, light historical Highlander romance. Just started Nature of the Beast by Hannah Howell

message 926: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So tomorrow for White Cat? That works for me if it works for everyone else?

Leea, are you done with Harvest Moon? It was sort of confusing for me as I was doing Harvest Moon and Sunrise Point together. But I finished Sunrise Point last night. It was really really good.

So I am listening to both of these: The Clan of the Cave Bear (Earth's Children, #1) by Jean M. Auel Harvest Moon (Virgin River, #15) by Robyn Carr and I am 50% into both.

I am reading Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote which is very short (only about 108 pages), I am about 25% in and it is really really good.

message 927: by Carina (new)

Carina Read Last Call by Olivia Brynn , was a little disappointed. Whish there would have been more to it, cause the idea and story were quite good.
*sigh* Oh well. Haven't found a good Erotica, short novella or book, since Damaged Goods by Lauren Gallagher

Regina - Harvest Moon. What do you think so far? (view spoiler) as a parent to young boys, I find it strange that Lief does not let Kelly spend the night. I respect his decision but I guess, I've forgotten what it's like to be a teenager.

I've got about 50 pages left in Harvest Moon (Virgin River, #15) by Robyn Carr . I bet that was confusing reading both at the same time. I'm sorry!

I'm going to start Over the Edge (Troubleshooters, #3) by Suzanne Brockmann after I finish Harvest Moon. I'm excited to read this one because i've enjoyed the first two books but I hear this is where the series starts really improving.

I'm going to go sit in on a few 1st grade classes today. I have to find the right teacher for my oldest and it's required that you sit in on at least 3... Only 5 weeks left of school. Yikes!

Cool! I only have one of books called Highland Warrior, but I have heard her books were wonderful, so I will be getting more of them.

So exciting you get to do that! I am sure you have advice from neighbors and friends too. :) Yesterday my shyest child, #3, 6 and in Kdg locked herself in the bathroom for 15 minutes. The principal found her and talked her out -- and then called me. She only told us what was wrong when she got home - -she didn't make it to the bathroom fast enough. She must have been so distraught! :(

I am so excited for you! I think I will see if my library has it too, I may spot listen to parts or spot read parts. :)

I agree about the chemistry. And other reviews have said the same thing. I think b/c I was less interested in this coupling, that allowed me to read Sunrise Point. Lief's story is heartbreaking, but Kelly - less so for me. Maybe b/c I work in a stressful job and I worked in restaurants for years and my husband is a chef, I agree the industry is horrible to work in but I just don't sympathize with her. Man I wish I had a backdoor out like she does. :) I also think she was so silly to (view spoiler) It seems to be a book to tie up loose ends and move the story along.

Leea, you have some good books ahead of you. Bring Me Home for Christmas was good, I liked it (although there were editing issues) and Hidden Summit was fun for me to read. I wasn't a fan of Redwood Bend, it was enjoyable but may be my least favorite in the series. However, I really liked Sunrise Point! Bring Me Home for Christmas (Virgin River, #16) by Robyn Carr Hidden Summit (Virgin River, #17) by Robyn Carr Redwood Bend (Virgin River, #18) by Robyn Carr Sunrise Point (Virgin River, #19) by Robyn Carr

message 932: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, poor thing. K is so hard, I would have locked myself in the bathroom too. I hope she went back today and is not upset.

I don't have any sympathy for Kelly. Yeah, don't we all wish we could can chutney and make a living. lol! Also, her relationship with Luca... that just seemed so fake or forced. That she (view spoiler) I'm a little jaded today.

There is a scene where Luca comes to VR to find Kelly - I can't wait to see what you think of that?

Well not that you're not reading the VR books with me i'll have to squeeze them in :)

message 933: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I knew he would! Carr always uses that formula to tie up the loose ends and give vindication to the spurned lover! I am not there yet, but looking forward to it.

Maybe my husband is different, but he hates watching cooking shows, he ends up critiquing them and criticizing them the entire time. So I thought it was interesting that Kelly enjoyed watching them. I guess I don't know any lawyers that enjoy watching court TV or live trials, so to me I understand why my husband does this. But nothing is perfect in fiction.

And yes about what he wanted. I assume (view spoiler)

message 934: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) LOL at chutney and make a living!

message 935: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I just finished Then Came You (Gamblers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas and I loved it!! Lisa Kleypas is great and waited too long to pick up her books again. next up Dreaming of You (Gamblers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas . I just need to read about Derek Craven!

I will start White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black tomorrow.

message 936: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay I have been wanting to read that series! I am so glad you are liking it. :)

message 937: by Leea (new)

Leea I make killer pepper jelly, not going make enough money to support my family with that. haha!

Oh how lucky you are Regina. I bet your husband is an amazing cook :) Mmmm! I just love food :) haha! I enjoy cooking and i'm not bad at it but it's hard when your kids are reluctant to eat it.

Never made it to my sons class. I walked over there and the fire alarm was sounded. I waited for awhile because they had one last week. The principle came on the speaker and informed them that it was not a drill, a teacher smelt smoke and pulled the alarm. Yikes!

I just finished Harvest Moon (Virgin River, #15) by Robyn Carr and i'm giving it 3 stars... I needed more steam, IMO.

Now i'm going to start On the Edge :) Looking forward to more steam :)

message 938: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm glad it's only 2 books in the series. I know when I was reading the Hathaways and then the Wallflowers right after, I hardly slept throughout those books.

Hey Kay!!! I really want to read the Gamblers. Glad you like them. Sometimes you just need some good HR :)

There are two different couples having sex in that book so you will get some steam!! I can't wait to see what you think of Stan. He thinks of himself as unattractive and then the lead, Terri, is a hottie.

Hahah...I still crack up thinking about that Batman cover that came up a couple of weeks ago. Too funny.

Yup, a good HR is just what i need right now.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Laura, I might try that series after I get around to finishing Colorado Mountain. It's probably not a good idea to have multiple series by her going at once. I'm notorious for starting series then wandering off and never coming back.

Kay, it's good to know that Gamblers was good then! I think I will read that series of hers next after I get around to reading Suddenly You.

I love Kleypas so, so much.

message 945: by Leea (new)

Leea Ohhhh Laura, I want to read those SO bad... I love KA.

Kay, that batman cover was so funny. lol!

Regina, bring on the steam... I can't wait. I love Stan already :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm waiting to find a book where I'll fall in love with KA. Two books in and I'm not seeing what the fuss is about. Maybe Rock Chick will do it for me. *cross fingers*

Hmm, I'm not sure that'll be it. I heard the first few RC books have very ditzy heroines. Not sure you'd like that?
I liked the Burg series, 'cause it was a bit darker, more serious and compact, but that's just me.

message 948: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Stacia, maybe she just isn't for you?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm sure people think I'm so picky!

Ditzy heroines? Hmmm...that could be a deal breaker. I went to my friends list and there's a bunch of 4 and 5 star reviews but of course I'm reading friend who wrote a 2 star review and thinking...that will probably be me.

Although Kay was in the middle with 3 stars.

message 950: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Nah, I DNFed #1 for similar reasons. I think people who continue in series and with authors are more likely to rate it highly, those that don't sync with an author initially, don't continue on -- if that makes sense. So that may be what you are seeing.
