Regina (reginar) It is very yummy. :) Both in content and the cover.

Kay, it is definitely a contemporary romance -- reminscent of how Cara McKenna wrote Willing Victim, but expanded. Two characters -- male/hero -- established and fine with who he is, working clas -- female/heroine -- floudnering and trying to find herself. Lots of daily life and new job stuff and the romance builds slowly. But there are a lot of explicit and dominant style sex scenes. :) My review (I am so delinquent) should be up Friday.

message 8352: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It isn't sweet or shiny in the way that Toni Blake writes the Destiny Falls series. But it was a very fast read. I thought it was better and deeper than her recent novel Making Him Sweat (Harlequin Blaze #740) by Meg Maguire -- and the sex was kinkier and more explicit.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I will be getting to the McKenna books, hopefully next month. I feel like I'm overloading right now on contemporary romance and smut, so I need to start putting some other genres back in. I have a historical and a high fantasy coming up soon.

Btw...Tied Man is suprisingly good so far, but very disturbing.

I have to try to finish it tonight so I can start another scheduled read of Rules of Entanglement (Fighting for Love, #2) by Gina L. Maxwell

message 8354: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have that one too stacia! It is getting good ratings.

Sweet! I will get to this one soon. Did you get this on Netgalley?

message 8356: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I did!

Ummm...yummy cover! That one looks good!

message 8358: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I loved it. I may re read it tonight.

message 8359: by Leea (new)

Leea I need to read all of those... I need a book reading, wine drinking and beach sitting vacation. haha!

Regina & Wendy, How far did you get into Breaking the rules?

message 8360: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lets all go together. :)

I am at the part where Jenny is about to go to Germany.

message 8361: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I am at the part where (view spoiler).

message 8362: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm to 60%... I couldn't help myself today. I'm a full fledged Izzy Zanella stalker ladies. That man is amazing!!

message 8363: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) He so is! I sort of picture izzy to look like Flynn in Willing Victim. How do you picture him Leea?

message 8364: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, that's about right. It's the hair that drives me wild... I just picture that crazy wild hair, it's so Izzy. I love when Eden describes him, it's not that he's traditionally handsome but just that he is to her. When he smiles or makes funny Izzy jokes, it's just even hotter.

This sums up my love for Irving Zanella:

message 8365: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I so need to read After Hours by Cara McKenna

message 8366: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I was just rereading parts last night and I forgot how long and explicit the sex scenes are. Kay I hope that is okay - definitely more like erotica with contemporary romance mixed in.

message 8367: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments No worries, Regina. I like romanticas a little more than straight eroticas. I am still drooling over the cover. LOL

message 8368: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I'm reading Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley .

message 8369: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm an Izzy Stalker too! I love that character, so much. Everything he does is so amazing!!

message 8370: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Just finished up with Sam & Alyssa in book 6 Gone Too Far (Troubleshooters, #6) by Suzanne Brockmann last night. The "other" side of Mary Lou's book 5 stuff...

Sam's growing up is so... I don't know. Part of me thinks it's hoky that he had such a bad childhood; seems like a lot of these SEAL guys had less-than-stellar childhoods, so it's starting to wear on me. But I love Sam's story because of Walter and Dot and Noah. And (view spoiler)

I also liked that Sam learned a lot about himself and his choices, especially with Mary Lou and their marriage. It's easier to forgive him now. But I appreciated ML's POV in the previous book, or this one wouldn't have hit me quite the same.

Gina/Max - wow, can't believe I have 2 more books to get through! Love, Love, Love Jules!!! More every book...

For me, 6 was a great book in a lot of ways. But it didn't have the emotional impact that 5 had for me - 5 just spoke to me. How weird is that?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished The Tied Man (The Tied Man, #1) by Tabitha McGowan and I probably won't be able to review it until late tonight because I'm going to have to think hard about what to say. This was one of the most traumatic books I've ever read but I couldn't stop reading.

Kay and Leea, I'd be curious to see what you think. It's edgier even than Comfort Food.

If this is getting a Comfort Food comparison, I'm going to have to check this one out.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Comfort Food is an excellent read but it's one of those books where you're almost able to read it as an outside observer, so you can guard yourself.

I couldn't detach from Tied Man. It was so emotional, everything that Finn was being put through. I ran through other books in my head like Captive in the Dark and Special Forces and this book still came out as probably being the most horrific.

I read a book called Finding Home not long ago (which I think Kay also read) and it was like that book, except ten times worse. FH had more of a sweet romance bent to it and the romance in this book was born out of something hellish, so it wasn't sweet, but more desperate.

I'm rambling...

I love your rambling about books, Stacia. I wish my real life friends would ramble about books! Keep it up!

I just saw your avatar. LOVE IT!

message 8376: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I just added it to my list, Stacia! For you to say that it may be edgier that Comfort Food has peaked my interest. You say that it's horrific than Captive in the Dark and 10x worse than Finding Home...did this make you feel uncomfortable where you had to put the book down? I think I can handle horror but just like to be warned about any comfort levels I may feel.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The writing was very impressive so I felt drawn into the book every time I picked it up, even though the content was hard to stomach. There's a British Literary fiction feel to the story, so it reads more sophisticated than you'd expect.

I can't think of much content-wise that was left out. There was extreme and brutal abuse and rape - so those would be the main triggers. There were underage flashbacks and emotional blackmail/holding people hostage as well.

message 8378: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments thanks, Stacia. I'll make sure my mind is set right before I pick it up. I hope I can handle it. I just noticed that the ebook is free on amazon for Prime Members. My mom gave me her kindle touch that she never uses. So, I will load this book to it when I get home tonight.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think the free Prime Books have a 2 week lending period? I'm not sure though, since I've only used it once.

message 8380: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Oh thanks. Good to know b/c I haven't read a prime book on there yet...actually I haven't read any book on there yet.

message 8381: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) There is no limit to how long you can keep the book. But you can't get a new book until the new month starts.

message 8382: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks Regina. So, only 1 prime book per month. That's still a nice perk for kindle owners.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh? Well crap, I did it wrong. I went and deleted my prime book, thinking it was about to run out and I didn't want to get stuck with a user error, like when something expires on ADE.

message 8384: by Leea (new)

Leea You guys have been busy... Love it! I was frantically finishing Izzy's book. I'm done and wow it was not stop action and filled with funny Izzy moments. God I love that man!

No clue what to read next... Tired man looks good - Thanks for another great rec. stacia. I have a full house this weekend so might not want something heavy.

Lucky you! I am still trying to obtain this book. It is only for sale on Amazon and I do not have a Kindle. I have a Nook Color. I am sad. Dante is one of my favorites. :-(

message 8400: by Dayana (new)

Dayana I just finish The Winning Hand (Silhouette Special Edition #1202 - reprint) by Nora Roberts I enjoyed most of the book but for my taste she was too fragile and not able to take decisions on her own. Now I am starting Engaging The Enemy (2-in-1) by Nora Roberts
