Chantilly White (Chantilly_White) | 13 comments There are so many great recommendations on here, thanks, everyone! My TBR pile is growing by leaps and bounds. :) I'm feeling a need for comfort reads right now myself, so I think I'll be picking up my Harry Potter collection again for a bit. It always does the trick! :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Dare You To (Pushing the Limits, #2) by Katie McGarry and I think it was a little bit better than the first book. There were still a few parts which read inauthentic to me, but I was still able to find it an okay read.

Started The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith . It's been a while since I've read steampunk.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments i finished Lotus in the Wild by Fae Sutherland which i enjoyed. nice m/m love story. now on to Anna in the Middle by Barbara Elsborg for a challenge.

message 7004: by Leea (new)

Leea Meme, i'll have to look into those.

I'm bitting my nails reading Breaking Point today because it's not hit the point where it's non-stop action and I love it! So much happens in this book, I cannot wait to see how this all plays out.

I hope you guys are having a great day!

So far, it's going pretty good. I put it off for awhile b/c I need my mind set right to read UF. And now it is really fitting my mood.

I love that too! I am not sure why, it is so far from reality. :) And it has a very slow but sweet building romance.

I loved #4. It is freaking scary at parts! I can't wait for the release of the new one in a few weeks!

message 7013: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am so freaking tired. I am travleing for work. I was up until midnight last night preparing for a deposition, taking the deposition all day today and now I will be up to midnight again. Boo. Hopefully I can read on my flight home -- Likely I will just close my eyes and try to sleep.

Enjoy Beth! I really liked this book.

message 7017: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina, I hope you get some rest and reading time :)

I finished Breaking Point (Troubleshooters, #9) by Suzanne Brockmann and I liked it but it also drove me crazy because I just wanted more Gina and Max kitchen table time *wink wink*

Now my plan was to pick back up In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1) by Tana French but Burn Bright (Night Creatures, #1) by Marianne de Pierres , the YA-MA traveling book came in the mail today. I'm going to read this next and then dive back into In the Woods.

for sure Leea, check these out. Anna in the Middle is a nice fast paced, fun read with this interesting side story. i'm liking it a lot and don't want to put it down. and Lotus in the Wild is actually a duo and the first is Bee Among The Clover by Fae Sutherland

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, #1) by Clay Griffith and loved this book. Regina, I think you might really like it. The book has all of the elements of a nice alternate history fantasy, with some mystery, gore, romance, etc. all thrown in together. It's not actually a romance book though - even with the sexual tension - it's definitely more on the fantasy (gothic maybe?) side.

Plus, The Greyfriar is a masked (anti?)hero - very V for Vendetta or Zorro. So hot.

message 7020: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Totally gonna check that one out, Stacia. It sounds good.

message 7021: by Leea (new)

Leea Same here. It looks good :)

message 7022: by D.G. (last edited Feb 07, 2013 01:26PM) (new)

D.G. This week I finished Mind Over Monsters (F.R.E.A.K.S. Squad Investigation, #1) by Jennifer Harlow , a cozy paranormal mystery. It was funny and the heroine was likeable but there was not that much new that I want to invest in a few series.

I also finished Scorched Skies (Fire Spirits, #2) by Samantha Young , which was one of those books where you get where the characters are coming from but are still annoyed at them. There's a make out scene in the book told from the girl's perceptive which is hot but on the tame side but the author also wrote a version in her site from the guy's POV which was scorching! *fans self* It's funny but it seemed as if the author wrote the one in the book from the YA perspective while the one in her site is more adult.

I already got the third book in the series and may read it this week if my team gets green in the FantasyLand game. :)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finished Anna in the Middle. it was truly a fun read. even had a bit of emotions in it =D now on to Paradise Found (Bandicoot Cove #2) by Vivian Arend

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Started Never Seduce a Scot last night and got almost halfway in before I was falling asleep. It's pretty adorable so far.

message 7027: by Leea (new)

Leea Yay!! I'm glad you're liking it so far. It's a fun light read.

I'm struggling with Burn Bright (Night Creatures, #1) by Marianne de Pierres , it's just not holding my attention.

message 7028: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I hope you enjoy Never Seduce a Scot, Stacia.

I've been so busy lately with work and family so I'm still reading Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs . I should be done tonight. All I gotta say is that the vampires in this book are scary and I love it!!

message 7029: by Leea (new)

Leea That's a different cover. I hope you enjoy it Kay and those vamps are really scary for sure :)

message 7030: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I do like this cover better Bone Crossed (Mercedes Thompson, #4) by Patricia Briggs .

I like the cover to Burn Bright....I'm sorry you're not getting into it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I don't think Wendy liked Burn Bright either. I actually liked the book because the world was kind of dark and creepy and I liked the mystery of the night creatures. And the one guy was hot (not the musician guy - he was just annoying). Yet, I haven't been motivated to read book 2. Someday, I guess. I want to find out what happens with the hot guy. WTF was his name? Was it like Lorien or something? Why can't I remember?

message 7032: by Leea (new)

Leea I just met him. L something... hahaha! It may be my mood and i've super crazy busy and it's not easy to read the world building while kids are screaming.

message 7033: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Lenoir! Hahaha, I liked him a lot. He was pretty much my favorite part of the book. I liked him enough that I'm curious about the second book, though I won't order it.

But yeah, most of the book was a little too confusing for me, and I couldnt stand Retra.

I finished this last night and it was great!

Leea I love Mercy! Glad you liked it.

message 7037: by Joan (new)

Joan | 1 comments I now have two to put on my list: Breaking Point and Never Seduce a Scot. Unfortunately, I can't read small print and can't always figure out the titles on the covers on this site. Maybe if the writer typed the name as well as posted the cover. It would be nice.

Joan

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That can be a pain. If you get stuck, you can click on the cover and it will take you to the book's page.

I wish GR had a pop up title for mobile devices. I end up having to click on the book cover myself if I'm on my Nook and don't recognize the cover. There is an option to select book title instead of cover but I tend to recognize a book more by its cover most of the time.

Yes!! You will really like the next two -- and hopefully three (since it is out soon). But you can't read the next Mercy without reading Fair Game as the end of Fair Game drastically impacts the Mercy world. Leea, I forgot - did you go back and finish the Alpha & Omega series? Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs

message 7041: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm currently reading Pretty When She Kills (Pretty When She Dies, #2) by Rhiannon Frater but will return to Mercy soon.

So, Regina, can you tell me the order I should read Mercy and A&O? I've read up to #4 of Mercy and only 0.5 & 1 of A&O. I knew that some of the storylines overlap bc the werewolves were not out to the public in A&O #1 and then all of a sudden in one of the Mercy books they were. So, I must have read something out of order.

They came out to the public in Iron Kissed (Mercedes Thompson, #3) by Patricia Briggs -- did you read that one? If you remember the tape recording of (view spoiler)

Here is a timeline, I find handy: http://www.hurog.com/forum/index.php?...

You can safely read #2 in the Alpha & Omega series (I think this is the weakest book in both of the worlds: Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs

Then you need to read #5 and #6 in Mercy: Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs River Marked (Mercedes Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs

And then number 3 of Alpha & Omega (DO NOT read this one until you have read River Marked): Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs Fair Game is freaking amazing.

And I don't think you can read the one that is about to come out Frost Burned (Mercedes Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs until you have read Fair Game.

So this is the order for you going forward:
Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs Silver Borne (Mercedes Thompson, #5) by Patricia Briggs River Marked (Mercedes Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs Frost Burned (Mercedes Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs

message 7046: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks Regina. I guess I didn't remember how they exactly came out to public. But after your brief refresher of Iron Kissed I can put some of it together now. So, I will read Hunting Ground next. I will also need a refresher of Cry Wolf since it's been 3 yrs since I've read this book...I will probably look for some spoiled reviews to do so.
