Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yes, me too! I'm assuming you're meaning in regards to Isaboe... if not, that's what this spoiler's about, lmao. Maybe Finn (view spoiler).

message 6702: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Me too. Exactly. Finn was silly, but I still loved it. And I loved that the couple was dealing with problems and I really like the evolution of (view spoiler)

message 6703: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Me too!

message 6704: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Just finished Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy, #2) by Deborah Harkness Like the first book in the series, it picked up about halfway through but I was still left wishing it had been more satisfying.

Vicki | 4 comments Working on The House on Tradd Street. Liking it so far :)

message 6706: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Kay wrote: "Does anyone have any recs for a historical romance novel that has some funny and witty writing similar to Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Olivia Parker or Sarah MacLean?"

Kay, I didn't read all the entries in-between, but Julia Quinn is one of 3 writers who took turns writing a story called The Lady Most Willing... A Novel in Three Parts by Julia Quinn . It's a fun romance. Eloisa James and Connie Brockway are the other 2 authors. Try it, if you haven't already.

message 6707: by Leea (new)

Leea Finished Flashpoint (Troubleshooters, #7) by Suzanne Brockmann and it was good, loved Nash and Tess who drove me nuts most of this book but brought out the cute in the end so that won me over :)

Now i'm taking a break from the Troubleshooter series to read The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner

I cannot wait to continue the Troubleshooter series and read Jones/Molly and Max and Gina's stories.

message 6708: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Who's number 8 about...?

Off to look that up!

message 6709: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Glad you liked it!

message 6710: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hot Target (Troubleshooters, #8) by Suzanne Brockmann -- Hot Target is a state side setting. We get more of Jules -- really the beginning of his starring role and his story, Robin is introduced and the main romance is Cosmo's. There is a historical reference, as there is a movie being made. There are also some very sad things that happen. :( But it is a great storyline. I never thought Cosmo would make such a compelling hero.

Breaking Point (Troubleshooters, #9) by Suzanne Brockmann is more of Jules, and then Max and Gina (yay!) and Molly/Jones -- two of my favorite couples!

message 6711: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yep, I just went and read that about Cosmo and Jules. That one should be really good.

And then I'm super excited for 9. Max and Gina and Molly and Jones are my two favorite couples so far.

I'm so glad you like it! I think The Rake was my favorite of the three. :)

Her Griffin Family series is really good, too!

message 6713: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so excited for the next two books... I don't know if i'm going to read Maze Runner... I want something light, i'm feeling very fickly right now. Not sure what to read next?

message 6714: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Maze Runner is definitely not light, lol.

message 6715: by Leea (new)

Leea That's what i'm thinking :) Now i'm off to search... maybe a historical romance

message 6716: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I am wading very slowly through The Serpent Prince (Princes Trilogy, #3) by Elizabeth Hoyt . It's not exciting enough for me to want to keep reading but I'll finish it soon! I just can't wait to get to the next book.

i felt the same way about this one when i read it. actually the only one i really enjoyed from this trilogy was The Raven Prince

message 6718: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finished Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta and it was fantastic!

message 6719: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yay, I can't wait for your review!

message 6720: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Domino - I barely remember The Raven Prince but I did read it! I probably won't continue on in the trilogy after this. I'm being swamped with nursing school stress! I'm sure you can understand xD

message 6721: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments hang in there Courtney. =D i sure do remember those stressful days. i'm studying for the Nclex myself and will be taking it next Monday. =/

Thanks! I was wondering about these books before. I'll have to check it out!

message 6726: by Mona (new)

Mona Ingram (monawrites) | 24 comments It's about as far away from romance as you can get, but we all need a break some time. I'm reading The Black Box, one of the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly. I've read most of his, and enjoy them between reading and writing romance.

Hey Kay! Any suggestions for a historical romance for me to read? :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Vicki wrote: "Finished The House on Tradd Street, and started A Cottage by the Sea"

You'll have to let me know how Cottage is. I picked that up as a freebie a long time ago and never got around to reading it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Under the Lash by Carolyn Faulkner and good lord...

I ranted...

and ranted...

and ranted...

Is it too much to ask for a fun piratey kidnap book? Gah. It was so wrong, on so many levels. Rapey - rapey - rapey. And the only reason why I kept reading was because I was laughing so hard and having to update my progress with quotes that were beyond belief.

message 6730: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hey Leea. It seems like we've read almost the same historical romances. So here's a few that I noticed you haven't read yet.

i know that you liked Heath's westerns....so how about her regency novel In Bed With the Devil (Scoundrels of St. James, #1) by Lorraine Heath . Her western Texas Rogues series is fun...although the first book was just okay. A Rogue in Texas (Rogues in Texas, #1) by Lorraine Heath

There's also Sweet Annie (The Copper Creek Brides, #1) by Cheryl St. John a western about a handicapped girl.

A couple humorous regency novels At the Bride Hunt Ball (Devine & Friends, #1) by Olivia Parker . I just read A Week to Be Wicked (Spindle Cove, #2) by Tessa Dare which I really enjoyed.

A cute Highlander romance that I enjoyed was The Devil Wears Plaid by Teresa Medeiros .

I hope one of these suggestions will fit your mood!

Leea, I really enjoyed the Sterling Trilogy by Samantha James.

A Perfect Bride (Sterling trilogy, #1) by Samantha James A Perfect Groom (Sterling trilogy, #2) by Samantha James A Perfect Hero (Sterling trilogy, #3) by Samantha James

message 6732: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Reading Temptation in a Kilt (Bad Boys of the Highlands, #1) by Victoria Roberts - decent Highlander book. What cracks me up are all the scintillating covers and titles. Makes every book sound *oh, so naughty*, when most are *oh, so nice with a nice bit of steam*. LOL!

message 6733: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I had a nice fix with historical romance which was so fun. Now, I'm in the mood for some contemporaries preferably not small town, sports, or romantic suspense. Does that leave anything else? Anyone have any suggestions? The last couple CRs that I read were just not that great.

message 6734: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) LOL. Those are some popular themes in contemporary romance. :)

message 6735: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Maybe Mr. Real (Code of Shadows, #1) by Carolyn Crane

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Perhaps a grittier contemporary or a rock star theme?

message 6737: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina wrote: "Maybe Mr. Real (Code of Shadows, #1) by Carolyn Crane"

I need to get to this one. I started this when it first came out but couldn't get over the first 2 chapters. It could have been my mood though.

I'm hoping to find something like The Travis' series by Kleypas or books by Julie James. I've been having a hard time.

Have you read Heartbreaker by Julie Garwood, Kay?

I haven't read that one yet. Is it a novel where suspense is the main focus and the romance is secondary? Or is it romance with suspenseful elements?

Ooops...sorry, Kay. I forgot you didn't want suspense. I think it was more romance, but I read it a long time ago, so I can't be sure. Sorry. :(

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh, sorry. I didn't have anything in mind.

I still need to read Mr. Real. I got the galley and it's just sitting on my reader. Strange coincidence that I'm reading Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane by the same author at the moment.

I'd heard that In the Band by Jean Haus is pretty good. That's NA though. It only popped into my head because for some reason, I'd stuck it in my student/teacher folder and ran across it last night. I'd have to look through my adult folder for adult gritty romance.

message 6745: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I think Stacia has it exactly right in terms of genre or maybe new adult (like Easy). I have no suggestions, sorry.

I haven't read Laura Kaye's two new in her series -- I don't know if they are as good as Hearts in Darkness:

Her Forbidden Hero (The Hero, #1) by Laura Kaye One Night with a Hero (The Hero, #2) by Laura Kaye

message 6746: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) How are you liking Mind Games?

I haven't read any of Garwood's contemporaries yet. Thanks for the suggestion, Angie.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You could do more of a romance with bad boys or different lifestyles (non-office, etc).

I liked the second book of this series Star Crossed (Battered Hearts, #2) by Kele Moon . Didn't read the first because I'd heard it wasn't as good.
A few friends of mine liked Seducing Cinderella (Fighting for Love, #1) by Gina L. Maxwell , but I don't know if it's any good.
Or there's Reaper's Property by Joanna Wylde which has been getting a lot of buzz. I haven't read that either though.

Leea and I are going to read Wounded by Jasinda Wilder on Thursday if you want to join us.

You're the best, Kay :) Thanks, not sure what I will pick, but appreciate the suggestions.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina wrote: "How are you liking Mind Games?"

Only one chapter in. I'm trying to push to finish Everneath (Everneath, #1) by Brodi Ashton so I don't have a bunch of books going at once. What I've read so far has been good though. I like when a mystery man shows up on the scene.
