Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments ahhh...you all are making me feel like I want to be pregnant again. And I was a year ago!! I don't think having another one now would be ideal but maybe in a year or two we may want to try for another. Although, everyone is telling me that 2 is enough....well, we'll just have to see about that! ;)

I finished reading Daughters of Rome by Kate Quinn and it was okay. I really hoped that it would be just as good as Mistress of Rome and it wasn't. It was more of a disappointment for me. Now, I reading Last Summer by Theresa Weir . I'm still on a search for a good contemporary. So far, this isn't as light as I thought it would be but enjoyable enough.

message 552: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) We sound like we are in Virgin River right now! My husband misses me pregnant - haha - he really liked me pregnant. :)

Kay it is all what you think and want. 2 is definitely easier than 3 or 4. I honeslty can't remember 3, I was only there for 1.5 years before I was pregnant again.

message 553: by D.G. (new)

D.G. everyone is telling me that 2 is enough

I don't have any children but I firmly believe having more children is a decision that only you and your husband should make. Don't let anybody browbeat you!

message 554: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I wish I was in VR right now...hanging out at Jack's bar and eating some hearty home cookin' from Preacher ;)

My hubby's Filipino and has a big family (where everyone is also your auntie or uncle! LOL). He's the youngest of 6 kids. So, he is dying for at least one more. Plus, I secretly want a girl! Hahah....but I do love my 2 boys.

thanks, DG. I honestly hate it when people tell me 2 is enough especially my MOTHER! But her personality is that way and at times, is like a 'debbie downer.' I definitely will make the decision with my hubs when the time is right regardless of other people's opinions.

message 555: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Good for you. :) It takes a strong personality to deal with the children question, specially when it comes from family.

I cannot tell you how many people in my family tell me I should be having children. And these are people who haven't been good parents to the children they've had!

message 556: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is such a personal decision - -and of course a couple decision. It is crazy how people think they can/should impose their idea of what should happen in our lives!

message 557: by Leea (new)

Leea I agree. I have a lot of respect for people who know they don't want children, like you D.G. I just always knew I wanted to be a mother.

My parents are the ones who want us to have more children, well actually a daughter.

My husband and I are happy with the two healthy children we have, sure if I got pregnant we'd be happy with another.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Knight and I don't know what to say about it. Leea, we will be discussing after you read it, even more than we already are now, haha.

message 559: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina,

Do you think Denny is (view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) And I am not having any more baby feelings. I had them so strong before I had my youngest. I would cry at the thought of not having another one.

Now, I'm so tired and busy with the two kids I have, I know I do not want any more. My oldest can have his own in a few years, so I don't want to have kids close in age to my grandkids. Sheesh. I feel old. I would be pissed to be a grandma in my 30's. My mom was.

message 561: by Jen (at last!) (last edited Apr 12, 2012 03:02PM) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) I am single and have no babies and I ache to have my own child. Someday it will happen. There's something very comforting to me holding their soft, warm, pudgy bodies against yours and feeling their chubby arms around your neck playing in your hair. My littlest nephew does that and it melts my heart every time.

I also totally respect those who do not want children. It's all about knowing what you want in life. :)

message 562: by Leea (last edited Apr 12, 2012 04:30PM) (new)

Leea I finished Promise Canyon (Virgin River, #13) by Robyn Carr and I loved being back in Virgin River... I know this town doen't exist but man what i wouldn't give to pull up a stool at Jacks bar and just watch it all take place. The happiness, heartache and community that make these books fantastic. Having said all this, I really connected with Lilly and Clay but then the last part of the book changed and Carr incorporated more of the other stories and was already transitioning into the next look story. It just felt rushed and I wanted more of Clay to be honest ;)

Well, Virgin River, I'm back... Regina, let me know when you want to start Wild Man Creek (Virgin River, #14) by Robyn Carr . Um Colin is just hot and I can't wait to read about him. haha!

I'm excited to start Knight (The Unfinished Heroes, #1) by Kristen Ashley , I've enjoyed Kristen Ashley's books in the past and although this book was compared to Fifty Shades I still want to read it, plus I have it on good authority that he's a dirty talker and ladies, that's just hot!

message 563: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Last night I finished Flash and Bones by Kathy Reichs by Kathy Reichs and I've started reading Lone Wolf by Jodi Picoult by Jodi Picoult this morning.

message 564: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea wrote: "Regina,

They have 2. (view spoiler)

As far as Denny, (view spoiler)

I am almost done with Promise Canyon. I like the tension between Clay's past and their romance. The horse stuff is sweet and I don't even know about horses! and boy their sex was hot.

message 565: by Leea (new)

Leea How the heck did I forget about (view spoiler)

Yeah, their sex was smokin'. I don't know much about horses either but it was really interesting to read about.

Do you want to continue the series... or take a break?

Regina and Wendy... Special Forces... Should we hold off?

message 566: by Leea (new)

Leea I just finished Knight (The Unfinished Heroes, #1) by Kristen Ashley and wow... in a that book was intense and had me up past midnight reading and I felt like crap from being sick... kind of way. Thanks, Stacia for brining this book to my attention.

I'm going to read Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley because I just Love Kristen Ashley writing style and he take and alpha men.

message 567: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm not ready, like I told Leea, I'm a buttface. I just finished Defiant Hero and I can't jump right into another war, high suspence story. I need to pull back a bit and read something lighter, or more even.

If you guys don't want to wait, I totally understand, seeing as I'm like the deadweight, hahahaha.

message 568: by Leea (new)

Leea It's fine with me... I would rather wait for you :)

message 569: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I'd rather wait too. :)

message 570: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Okay, you ladies are so awesome. :)

Can we plan on next Saturday? That'll give me time to break it up with some stuff.

message 571: by Leea (new)

Leea Sounds good to me :) I hear it's an intense read.

message 572: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm just reading short stuff until we get the Bingo announcement tomorrow. Most likely I'll read either Wool or Among the Living when I'm done with Lynda's Lace, a short erotica I'm reading now.

I had fun discussing the book. It's been a while since I've had a lively book discussion.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) LMAO, I hit the reply button to quote Leea and it shows the right book on her comment but on mine it's showing Batman the Dark Knight!!! I didn't change a thing!

message 578: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Haha, I was super confused, like 'where did Leea say that Batman was just wow?!'

message 579: by Leea (new)

Leea Hahaha! I was like... I didn't read that dang book. GR is messed up right now. lmao!

Were you talking about Knight, by Kristen Ashley?

I'm lovin' Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley , this series might be better than the Colorado Mountain Series :) Hawk, Mitch and a hot biker hottie - Hello!

Shell, you're back!

message 580: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Last Summer by Theresa Weir and The Pregnancy Test (NY Girlfriends, #1) by Erin McCarthy . Now, I'm reading Legend (Legend, #1) by Marie Lu which I'm really enjoying.

message 581: by Mimi (new)

Mimi Smith | 94 comments I finished The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa , for a buddy-read-ish thing, and I read Knight (The Unfinished Heroes, #1) by Kristen Ashley , which was...weird.

Leea, I'm glad you're liking Mystery Man, but that book was a bit annoying while I read it. I wanted to slap Gwennie every ten minutes. Oh, the good times!

message 583: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Apr 14, 2012 11:22AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I started The Gamble (Colorado Mountain, #1) by Kristen Ashley .

Knight was definitely different, Mimi.

message 584: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Those are a lot of changes Shell! Welcome back. I just requested both Hold Me Closer, Necromancer by Lish McBride White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black from the library. Not sure how I missed them before!

Stacia how far in are you? I may join you.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina, those are both fun books. Love the male PoV's and snark.

I just started last night and I'm only 2 chapters in. The book is supposed to be longer than Outlander though, so I'll probably use it as my "before bed" read and take my time reading it. At least a few days minimum.

You're welcome to join me though if you want to. I love having discussion buddies. :) Do you have the book already or need to get it still?

message 586: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have it! Cool. I have a few galleys I need to read so I will go slowly too. Cool!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) My poor galley pile is being ignored. :( I feel guilty.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Bah. GR is being such a pain today! Now my posts aren't going through. Maybe if I log off in a minute and come back tonight it will all be magically fixed.

Don't know if you saw that pic I posted in the YA group of the view out my front door but I have it on my profile page now so you can see what the setting is for the story (well if you left my suburb and went into the mountain, haha). It's a Colorado Mountain! This means I can pretend that I am actually in the Colorado Mountain story.

message 589: by Leea (new)

Leea Most of her books are set in Colorado, some towns are made up :) Like Gnaw Bone?

How many pages is The Gamble on your reader?

message 590: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina - I've been planning to read White Cat and requested the print copy from the library - I wasn't too crazy about the audio although I may try it again. When are you planning to read it?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina, you will appreciate the curseworkers' blowback, which is a penalty for working curse magic. I know you like it when there are consequenses for one's abilities.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Leea wrote: "Most of her books are set in Colorado, some towns are made up :) Like Gnaw Bone?

It's 436, but each page takes 4 flips/turns before it advances a number, so that's over 1700?

message 593: by Leea (new)

Leea Yikes!! Yeah. It's long but it goes by fast.

message 594: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Mine is about 9800 locations!

Regina (reginar) Stacia *the pusher wrote: "My poor galley pile is being ignored. :( I feel guilty."

I know! I had to go in and decline a bunch of them. I still have like 15 outstanding galleys -- but thankfully some go into August, September and October.

I do! You know me well. :) I saw your review for #3 and I thought -- how did I miss this series?

Eek, I am waiting on the audio it is being shipped to my library right now. One GR friend of mine loved the audio and another (Catie) said she didn't. Hmmm, I am going to request the print too just in case. Maybe a week? Do you want to do it together?

I saw the picture in your review! Gorgeous. No matter how rural we get here in Illinois, nothing compares to that picture of yours.

message 598: by D.G. (last edited Apr 14, 2012 04:58PM) (new)

D.G. You guys are good...sometimes I get galleys and don't read them until month afterwards. I really don't know why they keep approving me for books.

I'm really not having any good luck with the books I'm reading. Crossed (Matched, #2) by Ally Condie must be the most boring 2nd in the series in the history of the world. NOTHING is going on, nothing seem to make sense and I can't help but think that these people haven't showered in who knows how long.

Then The Charade (Ecstasy, #2) by Mackenzie McKade has one of the most preposterous plots I've seen in erotica. I think I'll just skim it so I can delete it from my iPad.

After this, I think I'll read some fantasy. Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson has been calling out to me and I think it can fit the Bingo Shelf for this week.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think Jessie Eisenburg (or whatever his name is) from Social Network is the narrator for White Cat. He seems like he'd be a voice that you'd either like or extremely dislike.

The snow on that mountain stays up for most of the year, even when it's 80 plus degrees where we're at because the difference in elevation is more than 7 thousand feet between there and where we're at - which is still a lot even at city level...there's a reason Denver is called the mile high city. Most of the front range area is over a mile above sea level. People who fly into the state often get altitude sickness while adjusting.

I actually feel like superwoman any time I go back to sea level when visiting my family in Cali because I get a 30% oxygen boost, so I'm running around high and happy.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) And I have no clue why I gave an altitude tour of Colorado just now!
