Leea Oh, Regina that stinks! I hope your daughter doesn't have sleep apnea. Although, there are so much they can do for that now. My grandfather has it and sleeps with one of those masks, I remember having to share a hotel room with him (about 10 years ago) and I joked that I was sleeping with Darth Vadar.

Let us know how it goes and I'll be sending you good vibes your way. That and lots and lots of coffee.

message 5852: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, I hope all goes well. Do let us know.

Hahah...Leea about Darth Vadar. My bro in law also has sleep apnea. The first time I heard him, it freaked me out bc every few minutes he'd stop breathing & when he finally caught his breath, it was loud like a motor.

I barely had time to read today nor have I been on goodreads. Apparently, my work's internet security indicated there was malware on goodreads.com :( so, I've been off of it most of the day.

message 5853: by D.G. (new)

D.G. My husband says that I have sleep apnea. Maybe I should have myself checked! I hope your daughter doesn't have it, Regina.

I'm almost done with Head Rush (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #3) by Carolyn Crane and it's been soo freaking good. I'm scared of the final showdown though.

message 5854: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) HI everyone. Sleep apnea for kids is an easy fix - it is caused by the tonsils and they just cut those out. Sebastian (9) is having his out on Monday. He literally is choking in his sleep. When the ped saw his tonsils she screamed! She said she never saw tonsils that big before. LOL, we want to ask for them in a jar. My daughter, I am unsure of .....

For adults, my understanding is they don't do the tonsil surgery as it is not as effective. It is interesting how many people are affected by it. My husband has it and I wonder if I do too. Apparantly it causes lung and heart damage, so it is something to get checked out. I keep meaning to.

I finished Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks which was so much fun! I also finished Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor which was freaking amazing!! I love her thank you list at the end -- the narrator reads it. And I started reading Cold Days (The Dresden Files, #14) by Jim Butcher which starts off so freaking strong!

I just need to figure out what to listen to today.

message 5855: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm glad you liked Blood & Starlight, Regina! It was so tough but good!

message 5856: by D.G. (new)

D.G. If only this police officer was shirtless and with a more messed up hairdo, he could be the cover model in a romantic suspense novel! Look at his expression and the badge clipped to his pants!!

message 5857: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It was so good and beauituful.

LMAO DG! Where is that from?

message 5858: by D.G. (last edited Nov 28, 2012 08:35AM) (new)

D.G. I just clicked on article about a guy who had killed a woman (the guy in handcuffs) and saw the pic! I was all...come to mama!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!

I was looking to see if I could find out the name of the officer but I didn't see anything!

That just shows you that there are some really hot guys out there in law enforcement!!! HAHAHAHA!

message 5859: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ah -- is that in Chicago? A father/husband was just convicted in Illinois/Chicago for murdering his wife and 3 kids in 2007. And of COURSE all of our cops look like that. :D

message 5860: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LOL, not Chicago...Kansas City!

message 5861: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Wow! He is one fine looking man!

message 5862: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) That's it. I'm going to Kansas City and running a red light. I'd make sure to tell him I had a gun so he'd have to frisk me. ;)

message 5863: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LOL, ladies! I think I'll have to put this in my status update. :)

message 5864: by Leea (new)

Leea Hahaha, Jen... I can just see it "Crime doubles in Kansas City... women everywhere are getting arrested for small crimes."

He's so hot! I have a think for Police officers or just men in law enforcement. When I used to work, there was this cafe where all these FBI agents used to eat at... Those were fun lunch days. Haha!

I'm starting What's Left of Me (The Hybrid Chronicles, #1) by Kat Zhang in paperback. It's so strange holding a real book... this should be fun!

message 5865: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Wow he's very easy on the eyes! Nice catch there D.G.!

How's Tangled Web coming along for you?

message 5866: by Jen (at last!) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) You know it, Leea! Hahahahaha!

"But, officer, I had NO idea it was illegal to turn on red."

I need another good read to complete my Outlander Yearly Challenge.

Think I'll read Onyx.

message 5867: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I haven't continued since the other day, Courtney. Head Rush has been monopolizing all my attention!

message 5868: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Are you listening?

message 5869: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Ah I keep forgetting to look for Mind Games when I go to the bookstore! I really need to remember because I'm craving a good urban fantasy. The past few books I've read have been pretty disappointing.

message 5870: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "Are you listening?"

Yes!

message 5871: by Leea (new)

Leea D.G... I cannot wait to finish that series. It's nice to have a series that's short and all the books are out.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Good point Leea. I was going to read Crane's other book soon, the Mr. Real one.

I should really stop starting new series though because I have so many to finish that are already in progress. It's a horrible habit of mine.

Struggling to get into A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean . I'm trying to figure out why some of my friends gave it 5 stars. Maybe I just need to hit a stride or something, but if it doesn't pick up soon, I might have to put it down.

Finished this one last week but just got around to saying anything about it now. I liked the African safari type of setting...that was different. The kidnapping wasn't as controversial as I thought it would be.
Wild Encounter by Nikki Logan

message 5873: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh I want to read Mr. Real!!

message 5874: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I started A Rogue by Any Other Name a while back and the hero rubbed me the wrong way in the first few lines so I stopped reading it. I don't know...he seemed so whiny!

I'll read Mr. Real once I'm done with the Dissilutionsist trilogy. Since I read the Kate Daniels series back to back, now I'm starting to get in the mood to finish series if I really like them.

message 5875: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is fun to find one you can read straight through. Except for the oldies (for me that is the dissillusionist and kate daniels, also Mercy Thompson, Fever ...), I rarely want to read back to back anymore.

But I did read the McCabe trilogy back to back!

Mr. Real is definitely romance based, not UF -- but it has the same completely unique set up, quirky funny characters, flawed people who are growing and maturing and humor. I am not sure if I should say it is romantic suspense or paranormal romance. I loved it.

message 5876: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading The Tenderness Of Wolves by Stef Penney by Stef Penney this evening. Overall, I thought the novel was an interesting and mostly enjoyable read. There were some problems with it (not surprising in a debut novel), the plot became slow and tedious at times, there were too many characters - it was very hard to keep track of them all - and the author wrote all of her characters in the first person so sometimes it wasn't clear which character was doing the talking! I had to go back and re-read multiple chapters to figure out what was happening in the story, which was very annoying! The ending was very sudden. It came out of nowhere and it left too many storylines unresolved. I was left wondering WHERE is the rest of the story???
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Next I'm going to start The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton by S.E. Hinton.

message 5877: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) My daughter just read the outsiders in her 7th grade class. She loved it. I have actually never read it. Looking forward to how you like it.

message 5878: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I love The Outsiders! I read it when I was 12 and have re-read it a few times. The author was only 16 years old when she wrote it....I find that amazing.

message 5879: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Outsiders is classic.

message 5880: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay I didn't know that!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I should read it sometime. I love the movie.

message 5882: by Leea (new)

Leea I remember reading the book and then watching the movie, it's one of my favorite movies. I'd be up for a reread sometime... you know when we run out of stuff to read lol!

message 5883: by Jen (at last!) (last edited Nov 28, 2012 10:05PM) (new)

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) Lol, Leea, you mean rearrange what's in your "to read" list to accommodate reading The Outsiders, right? There's no way anyone in this group will ever run out of books to read. ;)

I'm such an ADD reader sometimes. I juggle several at once. Then, I'll read one every few weeks.

At times, something has to jump out at me and grab my attention to get me to read. I find that I go through slumps where nothing will appeal to me. Other times I read obsessively. Dunno quite why that is.

I loved Never Seduce a Scot. It put me in the mood for
another great light romance. Any suggestions?

message 5884: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "It is fun to find one you can read straight through. Except for the oldies (for me that is the dissillusionist and kate daniels, also Mercy Thompson, Fever ...), I rarely want to read back to back..."

Yup, no many series you can read back to back!

I finished Head Rush (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #3) by Carolyn Crane and I'm not sure how I feel about the end. It was a bit too perfect for my taste and I was bit disappointed by the showdown. But it was a great end of the series nevertheless. Carolyn Crane has definitely catapulted to one of my favorite authors. She's so quirky and original. I mean, sleep walking cannibals? Who even think of these things!

Right after that, I started Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy and sexy contemporary romance. It's one of those 'older woman' romances and the hero is so sweet and nice! He's a welcome novelty because he seems like a real man instead of an alpha type who's always confident and secure.

message 5885: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I know what you mean, I think I may have said that in my review too. I also am one of the readers who had a deep sympathy for Otto. But I do prefer latino men. :)

I am 10% in to the new Dresden Files, but I think I am just in the mood for lite romance right now. Hahaha, it is so not me. :)

I am also listening to The Twelve (The Passage, #2) by Justin Cronin

D.G. Regina wrote: "I know what you mean, I think I may have said that in my review too. I also am one of the readers who had a deep sympathy for Otto. But I do prefer latino men. :) "

Oh I couldn't stand Otto from the beginning. He was the kind of person that thought only he knew the right way and never made any mistakes so I thought he was VERY dangerous.

message 5887: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Nov 29, 2012 01:45PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) How is The Passage series? I remember getting the first book from the library back when it first came out and I was afraid to read it because it was comparable in size to Outlander, so I sort of chickened out.

message 5888: by Leea (new)

Leea Never heard of The Passage series, went and looked - it looks good! Wow that's a long book lol!

Well i'm going to finally start Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane . I'm excited to see how this goes.

Finished a Traveling book today, What's left of me. It was good, hard to follow at times but I'll read the second book to just see what happens.

message 5889: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I just finished In Bed With a Highlander. Another fabulous read from Maya Banks! I'm undecided as to what is next.

message 5890: by Leea (new)

Leea Well, Angie, what type of book do you want?

message 5891: by Courtney (last edited Nov 30, 2012 01:24AM) (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Finished Star of the Morning (Nine Kingdoms, #1) by Lynn Kurland which was pretty boring and really not worth the read.

Can't wait to read something else now. I'll be going on a road trip tomorrow so I'll have plenty of time to read. Yay! It'll be exciting to choose which books to bring along.

message 5892: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Leea wrote: "Well, Angie, what type of book do you want?"

Apparently another Highlander book as I dove right into 'Seduction of a Highland Lass.' LOL I'll probably finish this trilogy, and then go onto the second Julie James book if every one else is ready to read it.

message 5893: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Angie that is what I was going to suggest. There is NO benefit on waiting lol. Read them all in a row. Personally I loved #3 the best. It is a great end to the trilogy.

The passage series. I loved parts of the first one and skimmed other parts. But my friends that love this genre loved most of it. It is truly an epic book as it covers many characters and a large time period. It is story driven rather than character driven. I read the first one two years ago. Many real life friends stayed up all night reading it. It did not affect me that way. It is not a series I think is super important or necessary to read. Ha. How is that for a recommendation?

I can't wait to get to Caelen's book. I think he's going to be a tough nut to crack. LOL

Can you tell me who wrote The Passage series please? I will need to request the books in plenty of time to have them on deck!

LOL...it's about as good as my recommendation for Janet Chapman's Highlander series!

message 5895: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) The Passage (The Passage, #1) by Justin Cronin

Well this isn't fun like highlander fun

message 5896: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Has anyone read On Dublin Street? Thoughts?

Should I move it up my TBR pile?

Have you read Pamela's Clare's macKinnan ranger series? It's a must read!!

message 5898: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I think I'm going to start Goddess of Spring (Goddess Summoning, #2) by P.C. Cast by P.C. Cast. Her other adult romance I really liked Divine By Mistake (Partholon, #1) by P.C. Cast but her YA novels....really can't say the same.

message 5899: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh crap! The book I'm reading now has a public proposal. I HATE THOSE!

message 5900: by Leea (new)

Leea I've only read one P.C. Cast book, but i'm interested in the Goddess summoning series. Let me know what you think Courtney!

It's been raining here so hard all day... I'm about to pick the kids up from school and drive to sac. hope it's not crazy out there.

Angie, I didn't really like On Dublin Street, but almost everyone else did... Have you read some friends reviews? That always helps me decided if i'll like something.
