Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am also thankful for all the wonderful people I've met on goodreads.

message 5802: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ditto! Me too! For all those that celebrated I hope it was wonderful!

I am so thankful for you all and this group.

message 5803: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Okay, ladies I am having so much fun with the McCabe trilogy and I fully understood it to be a trilogy today, I am almost out of books! What is comparable to the McCabe trilogy? Very light, but fun like these?

So I am reading Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks

Are you looking for another Highlander series, or do you like Regency England?

message 5805: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I like both Angie. Although, I do think the roughness of the Highlander's lifestyle is sort of appealing. But I loved Kleypas's books.

message 5806: by Leea (new)

Leea Banks has a new Highlander Romance, Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks it's part of a new series. I can't wait to read it!!

message 5807: by Leea (new)

Leea Did everyone had a good Holiday? We had a great time at my Brothers house. My SIL did an amazing job cooking the turkey, so yummy! I miss not having left overs... Good thing I bought a turkey and we're going to cook that tomorrow or sunday while putting up the Holiday decorations. I'm so ahead of the game this year, got our holiday cards done and most of the gifts already purchased. Now I just have a little bit to do and relax and enjoy the season - well that's the plan at least ;)

message 5808: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea that is impressive!

I am going to go check out how much Banks' new on is at Amazon.

message 5809: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I finished the last in he McCabe trilogy Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks and I loved it. It was my favorite in the trilogy. I am starting Defiant (MacKinnon's Rangers, #3) by Pamela Clare

message 5810: by Leea (new)

Leea I loved Defiant, Regina. Enjoy! Clare is hands down my favorite HR writer. Too bad it takes her a year or more to write them. hehe! Can't wait to chat with you about it.

message 5811: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is so darned good!!!

message 5812: by Leea (new)

Leea I know *squeal*

I loved that book - I mean... loved it! LOL!

message 5813: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Was there a buddy read thread for defiant? I love Connor. And beginning with the prologue was great. I really like Clare's HR so much more than her RS.

message 5814: by Leea (new)

Leea No buddy read thread, we can chat here or we can make one if needed.

message 5815: by Leea (new)

Leea Finished The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay and what a great book, so moving and I feel spent after reading it.

Tomorrow morning i'm going to start Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks and i'm so excited to read this with a few group members.

if anyone else wants to join us please feel free to. We'll be chatting in this thread:

message 5816: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finished defiant and loved it!! Joining in the buddy read now.

message 5817: by D.G. (last edited Nov 25, 2012 11:53AM) (new)

D.G. I started several books while I was visiting my parents and now I don't feel like reading any of them. I put them in my 'currently reading' shelf because I need to either finish them or DNF them and if I see them in my profile, I'm more likely to do either.

One of them is Sweet Release (Blakewell/Kenleigh Family Trilogy, #1) by Pamela Clare by Pamela Clare and the part that is bothering is that they are both acting on their attraction when their situation is so damn dangerous. I can't believe a woman would pursue an attraction to a guy thought to be a criminal when her family and ranch depend on her and in his case, he knows that until he's proven innocent, his life is in the hand of a lot of untrustworthy people. I think just the fear or being shot/tortured/sold, etc. before everything is cleared would be enough to shrivel his balls.

I continue to be in the mood for something steamy but with a plot (not erotica). Has anybody read A Blood Seduction (Vamp City, #1) by Pamela Palmer ? How's the steam level there?

message 5818: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Welcome back DG!

message 5819: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Thanks, Regina. I hope everybody had a lovely Thanksgiving. :)

message 5820: by Leea (new)

Leea I can't wait to read your review of Defiant... I loved that book and I can't wait for the next one in the series. I know she's going to write about Joseph.

message 5821: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Nov 25, 2012 11:44PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Broken by A.E. Rought and it was meh. Also finished The Brides of Rollrock Island by Margo Lanagan and really liked it once I got past the confusing start. The writing was darkly beautiful.

message 5822: by Susan (new)

Susan | 19 comments I am reading Dark Predator by Christine Feehan. Dark Predator (Dark, #22) by Christine Feehan

message 5823: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I started Tangled Web (Dezian Empire, #1) by Crista McHugh , an interesting mix of fantasy, sci-fi in a sort of Roman Empire setting.

message 5824: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I'm debating between Beautiful Disaster and In Bed with a Highlander.

message 5825: by Regina (last edited Nov 26, 2012 08:13AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) I say in bed with a highlander.

But I am biased, lol. I dnfed BD, so maybe you shouldn't take my advice. :)

message 5826: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments D.G. - That looks pretty good! I'll have to see your thoughts on it when you're done!

message 5827: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm planning to review it for the blog next week so I'll definitely let you know, Courtney!

message 5828: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I second the In Bed with a Highlander choice:)

I'm lost on what to read next. I have a traveling book coming tomorrow but I want to read something before it gets here...

message 5829: by Angie Elle (last edited Nov 26, 2012 05:36PM) (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments

I've caved. This is what I'm starting!

message 5830: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Good choice, Angie!! I love the McCabes!

message 5831: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Thanks! I'm sure I'll love it.

I'm making some mint hot chocolate and snuggling up for the night with my Kindle. I have to get some quality reading time in before I crash!

message 5832: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Since I finished Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks , I'm also in the mood for more highlander romance. I'm thinking of Untamed (MacKinnon's Rangers, #2) by Pamela Clare or Taming the Scotsman (Brotherhood/MacAllister, #4) by Kinley MacGregor .

message 5833: by Angie Elle (new)

I vote for the Kinley MacGregor one because I've read some of her Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunter books and enjoyed them. I'm interested to see how her Highlander books are.

message 5834: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finished Riding Wild and it was a good read. now back to my cowboys in One Night Rodeo (Blacktop Cowboys, #4) by Lorelei James

message 5835: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I decided to start Taming the Scotsman (Brotherhood/MacAllister, #4) by Kinley MacGregor since I need something light right now.

message 5836: by Leea (last edited Nov 26, 2012 09:49PM) (new)

Leea Ahhh... **Jumps up and down** UNTAMED!!!

I am curious how Taming the Scotsman is? I need another Highlander fix, too.

EDIT: Apparently I read it... lmao!!

message 5837: by D.G. (new)

D.G. At 3am this morning, I finished Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane (I woke up at 2am thinking about the book and had to finish it.) What an ending! I had to start Head Rush (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #3) by Carolyn Crane right away!

message 5838: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments DG....that is a great series. The ending of book 2 blew me away!

Leea...hahha...you did read it!

Well, I decided to read Laird of the Mist (MacGregors, #1) by Paula Quinn with Leea.

message 5839: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I had been upset during most of book #2 so I was really glad to see things explode.

message 5840: by Leea (new)

Leea I finished Never Seduce a Scot (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #1) by Maya Banks and loved it, I cannot wait for book 2 in the spring of 2013...

Now i'm on a Highlander kick and i'm going to read Laird of the Mist (MacGregors, #1) by Paula Quinn with Kay :)

I need to read Double Cross soon, i'll make sure and have book 3 ready to go. Thanks for the heads up DG.

message 5841: by Marilou (new)

Marilou | 4 comments I'm a little over 150 pages into Checkmate (A Neighbor from Hell, #3) by R.L. Mathewson and I hate to admit, as much as i've loved R.L Mathewson's prior books, I'm just not into this one, but I'll finish it soon. :) Also I started Take Me by Olivia Cunning since i've read the rest of the Sole Regret books, again, I'm not entirely into it, but it shall be read, soon enough.

Last but not least, the book that I'll start today ( and probably finish before i finish the other two said books) is

Slightly Married (Bedwyn Saga, #1) by Mary Balogh .

message 5842: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Leea wrote: "I need to read Double Cross soon, i'll make sure and have book 3 ready to go. Thanks for the heads up DG. "

You MUST have HR handy when you start DC. That ending is so spectacular that you'll want to know how it ends!

message 5843: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It was a painful wait for me -- I read Double Cross before Head Rush was released!

message 5844: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I can only imagine! If I hadn't had to wake up at 5:45 for the gym, I would have started it right then and there!

message 5845: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Haha. :) I have to do a sleep study tonight with one of my children, ugh. No sleeping for me tonight!

message 5846: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh that sucks!

That's too bad about Checkmate. I have to read and review that over the next few days for a review collective but haven't heard much positive about it, so I'm sort of slacking on starting.

I still haven't gotten to the second and third Sole Regret shorts. I keep hearing they're not as good as the first, so I've been putting them off. Maybe if you like it I'll get to it sooner.

That said, I have been slowly working through A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean and Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1) by Jennifer Estep

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Regina wrote: "Haha. :) I have to do a sleep study tonight with one of my children, ugh. No sleeping for me tonight!"

Is that the one where they have to stay up all night so they can get their brainwaves registered? I had to do a sleep deprivation EEG back when I was a teenager. Those suck!

Sorry you don't get to sleep. :(

message 5849: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ugh Stacia that sounds miserable!! Natalia (my 4 year old) is supposed to sleep with stuff attached to her to measure her breathing and determine if she has sleep apnea. She is scheduled for a tonsilectomy on MOnday and we need it before that to see if the surgery is necessary.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh no, I hope she doesn't have it. I know that there's ways to help with that though.

Are you wanting her to get the surgery? Do the doctors think that will help her?

I think my husband has sleep apnea, which worries me a little because he's not going to go to the doctor for it. Sometimes he'll struggle to breathe in his sleep. My cousin died from a sleep apnea related incident not long ago.
