Jennifer (jenndiaz16) | 8 comments I just finished reading The Opportunist!!! Loved it!!! Love the kind of book that brings all emotions out! The Opportunist

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) What do you think of the next Opportunist book being in Leah's PoV?

Dirty Red (Love Me With Lies, #2) by Tarryn Fisher

OMG I cannot wait to read Leah POV!!!! 12/28 cannot come fast enough!!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I don't like Leah at all but of course, I'm sure the book will make me feel sorry for her.

message 5355: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenndiaz16) | 8 comments Have you read the two spoilers yet??? I think it will be interesting... Right now I hate her but at the same time I feel sorry for you. I am all team Olivia though!!! I want them to be together!!!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) After going through torture when I read the first chapter of Shadowfever long before the book came out, I stay away from teasers now if I can help it.

I am on Olivia's side but she did kind of make some poor decisions that made me want to slap her. I have the feeling that Leah is just insecure and that's why she acts out.

message 5357: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jenndiaz16) | 8 comments Yeah I understand the slapping!! At one point or another I want to slap them all!!! lol!!!! Should be interesting!

message 5358: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That teaser for Shadowfever was so fricking painful. I also never ever read them anymore! Lesson learned!

message 5359: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just started Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter I am listening to the audio and am liking it.

I am more than halfway through Rebel Heart (Dust Lands, #2) by Moira Young -- which is really good. I find it more satisfying than the first.

I finished the audio of
The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling and I loved it.

Rachel the Book Harlot I'm currently reading Kill the Dead (Sandman Slim, #2) by Richard Kadrey but while so far I like it, I'm really in the mood for something fluffy, sexy, and comforting.

message 5361: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished reading The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna and The Trouble With Valentine's Day (Chinooks Hockey Team, #3) by Rachel Gibson . I enjoyed both.

I tried reading this at one point but it was a dnf for me. I think that was when I wasn't having good luck with UF. I look forward to your review.

message 5363: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Maybe it is the narration and maybe it Is that I haven't read female written UF for awhile?

Can't wait to read Rowling's new one!

message 5365: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So happy when I stumble upon a book that happens to be the last one for me to read in a series I've loved. Found How to Woo a Reluctant Lady (Hellions of Halstead Hall, #3) by Sabrina Jeffries at the library and enjoying it so far.

Tellulah I will be interested to see your thoughts on it. It is a complete character story.

I loved all the books in the KGI series! Once I'm finished reading what I have I'm thinking of re-reading the entire series because Maya Banks has the newest book coming out in January 2013 Once you read it I think you will fall in love with all the brothers in this series as I did!

message 5368: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Lisa - Thanks for letting me know! I'm excited to buy it now!

message 5369: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm still reading Special Forces - Mercenaries Part I (Special Forces, #2 part 1) by Marquesate . Wendy has pushed far ahead of me and I will try to catch up tomorrow :)

So far it's heartbreaking.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) We were super busy this weekend so I just read a short little book but it was hilarious. My husband does the EXACT same thing and now I'm wishing that I had recorded some of his stuff so I could have put it in a book!

Don't Let the Midget Out of the Wardrobe The Wit and Wisdom of Sleep Talkin' Man by Karen Slavick-Lennard

message 5371: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'm still right around the same spot too, reading was slow for me yesterday and again today, probably.

message 5372: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I started a new book by Sophie Littlefield (I am such a huge fan of hers) and it is a new series -- so far it is really good Blood Bond by Sophie Littlefield

I am liking but not blown away by Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter its really hard in this genre, b/c so much has been done so far by other authors in other books.

message 5373: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina, I have to finish her Aftertime series and I want to read her other books. You're always raving about them and she is a wonderful author.

Did you hear the news about Lance Armstrong? What do you think?

message 5374: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) She is a great author in terms of her adult books. I was not a fan of her YA book that I read. She somehow is able to write about people flaws and all and make them seem real. The main character of Blood Bond is a male cop -- and he already seems really really hot.

I did hear. I feel so bad for all of those bicyclists who were competing for those 7 years who could have won a title but were not able to b/c of Armstrong. I guess I believe it is true. Anyone see the Daily Show talking about it on Wednesday? Back in Black did a focus on it, it was funny.

Lol! My guy one time argued with me in his sleep, telling me he had some ice cream and I took it from him, and where did I put the damn bowl of ice cream? I was like, um, we don't have any ice cream, so there's no way you had a bowl of ice cream...

She is able to write about peoples flaw, so human and real.

I guess, for me I grew up watching him race, my father is a cyclist and Lance was always a hero to him and my husband. Livestrong is on of the organizations we've always donated to and participated in their runs. I have tons of Livestrong gear and my husband has even more. It's just so sad. I guess, I didn't want it to be real for so long.

message 5377: by Megan (new)

Megan | 135 comments Finished Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis . I think I might have a new favorite author :) Currently reading The Sweetest Thing (Lucky Harbor, #2) by Jill Shalvis .

message 5378: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Squeeze Play (Richmond Rogues, #1) by Kate Angell . It was cute. I think I'm done with sport romances for the moment. I'm off to search for my next read....

I didn't realize that was his organization. I agree it is sad Leea. It is sad that he gave us all so much hope. I also feel bad for him -- and then I feel bad for all of the other cyclists whose chance was robbed.

message 5380: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Earlier today, I finished reading The Witching Hour (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #1) by Anne Rice by Anne Rice. The Witching Hour is an extremely long novel, 1207 pages, but don't let that put you off reading as once you open the first page you soon find yourself completely absorbed in the chilling tale of the Mayfair Witches. This novel has a spellbinding, engrossing, well-written tale with complex and mysterious characters. There are plenty of compelling twists and turns in the plot to keep you interested and the suspense is drawn out to perfection. The novel is completely unpredictable, I found the ending to be quite a shock! My full review can be found here.

Now, I'm about to start The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving by Washington Irving and Frankenstein (Penguin Classics) by Mary Shelley by Mary Shelley.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Dark Star by Bethany Frenette and it was an okay book, fun but nothing out of the ordinary. However, the male lead reminds me of a cross between Dimitri Belikov and Clark Kent and I adore him...so much so that I can't wait for book 2 just to have more scenes with him. :)

Re-reading a book atm and still working my way through IT. I snuck a few pages into Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters and think I'm really going to like this one but only have a few pages left on my re-read and might try to finish up the last few pages of Seven Years to Sin first. I left a few books half done.

message 5382: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I really like Sarah Watesr. I have read one of her other books Affinity by Sarah Waters and I own the one you are going to read. I also own The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters which I heard is really good ( and really scary).

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Her writing style is very beautiful from what I can tell so far. I was sucked into the world within a few pages.

message 5384: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is beautiful. It is also haunting. I can't wait to read your thoughts. That is a book I have wanted to read for years and it kept getting pushed back. Are you starting it next? Once I finish Blood Bond by Sophie Littlefield I will see if I can join you.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I plan on starting it tomorrow, but I can wait an extra day or two if you need.

message 5386: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That would be great! I should finish by Thursday and then I will join you, thank you!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sounds good!

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finally starting Changing the Game (Play by Play, #2) by Jaci Burton . the first in the series was really great and i know this one will be good cause i liked Gavin and Liz from bk1.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Seven Years to Sin by Sylvia Day after attempting to come back and finish on more than one occasion. It was fine - not bad, not great. Not sure why so many people rated it five stars, but maybe I was missing something here. I tend to like more banter and wit in my HR and I felt like this book didn't have much of it.

message 5390: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I just finished Touch of Power (Healer, #1) by Maria V. Snyder and was sorely disappointed. I loved Poison Study and this just did not match up at all! I guess I had too high of an expectation, what with my love for Snyder's first novel and the really high ratings.

I'm now going to start Crazy For Love by Victoria Dahl .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Working on Desires of the Dead (The Body Finder, #2) by Kimberly Derting and I'm enjoying it so far.

Regina, I probably won't start our book until tomorrow afternoon, if that's okay.

I love this series! Which reminds me that I need to read the newest book.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I just finished Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane . I just have to be honest and say I did not like this book. I was all excited because I love ghosts and some of you ladies raved about this series. I couldn't wait to get through the book. The highlight of the book was the character Terrible. I love him!

I will continue with the series in hopes it gets better and because my OCD won't let me do otherwise. However, it is going on the back burner for a couple weeks.

message 5394: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Marcella - Don't worry. Unholy Ghosts wasn't really to my liking either, but I'm not continuing the series.

message 5395: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I thought I was the only one. I am continuing the series mainly because I liked the character Terrible.

message 5396: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Marcella I am sorry you were disappointed. Downside Ghosts is definitely not for everyone.

I finished Blood Bond by Sophie Littlefield and I enjoyed it.

Stacia that is fine, I will probably start reading on my train ride this morning but I am guessing you will jump ahead of me. So I will be starting Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters as a buddy read with Stacia. Thanks for waiting. :)

message 5397: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I'll mimic Regina. It wasn't for everyone. But I think they each get better and better, and hell Terrible is pretty freaking great isn't he! haha.

message 5398: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) He is a brilliantly written hero. I still need to read the last one.

message 5399: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina, you haven read it yet!! It was amazing! Was that the last book?

Marcella, if you loved Terrible then keep reading. But chess' disfunction and drug use only gets worse.

I'm still reading special forces with Wendy, well she finished already. Haha! I'm finding no time to read and it's so frustrating.

message 5400: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) It's alright, I'm happy to talk about it as slowly as you need. :)
