Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Yeah, one of my other friends who buddy read HTK with me on the re-read had gotten ahold of her and was told the same thing. I'm sure when she eventually writes another book, we'll all be excited to read it.

She also wrote and produced an indie movie a few years back. I think Jennifer Aniston was in it? Don't remember now. I had browsed her wiki page.

Finished The Wild Ones by M. Leighton and wasn't a fan at all, but I think people who like intense romances might like it.

Still working on Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre and loving it but also needed to start 2 other reads for other commitments, so I have these going as well Confessions of an Angry Girl (Confessions, #1) by Louise Rozett Heads in Beds A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality by Jacob Tomsky

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments On the back cover of God Shaped Hole it mentions that she wrote a film that Jennifer Anistan starred in. Her "About the Author" at the end said that she was never cut out to be a film maker and she doesn't see the world through a camera lens....it's all about the beauty of words. And she definitely knows how to capture that through words!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Her writing amazes me. The way she describes things is beautiful without looking like she tries too hard to impress us with her words.

I'm so antsy to read God Shaped Hole but I'm not allowed to touch it until October because a friend really wants me to read it with her.

message 4354: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments well, October isn't too far away but I still can't wait to see what you think about it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Is it just me or do the months seem to fly in regard to reading? I keep thinking that I read certain books recently, then check and realize it was a year ago...

message 4356: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I feel just the opposite. Some books I think I read a long time ago and then I look at the read date and it was only a few months ago! LOL

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments still reading Sing For Your Supper and adding on A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin and listening to Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs . i love me some Charles. he's injured in the beginning and all i can think about is how sexy he is :p

message 4358: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Charles is one of my favorite male PNR/UF characters ever.

message 4359: by Leea (new)

Leea Dang it, now i'm itching to read God Shaped Hole. Last time I looked I couldn't find the ebook. Maybe I should look at the library and read a paperback - shocking! Haha! She's a beautiful writer, I can't wait to see what she writes next. It's fun following her on twitter, she's so creative.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Someone gifted me the ebook but I think it's on google books if you're looking for it. I haven't seen it anywhere else because I'd tried looking for it too.

message 4361: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments The only place I saw that was selling the book is google for $7.99. It wasn't so bad reading a paperback...weird but I made it work. I'm just glad that I'm back using my nook again :)

message 4362: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Hey, Kay! When did you want to start reading Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre ?

message 4363: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I can start Thursday or Sunday night. Does that work for you? Leea, can you start this week too?

message 4364: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments That's fine with me! I'm a pretty slow reader so I might start a little sooner.

message 4365: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Sounds good. Yay! I can't wait to get back into Jax's world...it has been too long.

message 4366: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I can start Thursday. That gives me time to slowly finish the rock chick book and do some canning tomorrow. Our apple tree is producing so many apples.

message 4367: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just started This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers I am only 10% in but it is really good. I am loving it.

I am about 35% in to Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon , I am listening to it and it is really really good.

message 4371: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I finished Married in Haste (Marriage, #1) by Cathy Maxwell . Despite mixed reviews, I really liked it. I am almost half way through Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, #4) by Charlaine Harris

message 4372: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay I learned about this book from you. :) I am 20% in and still loving it. It is a zombie book, but it is more about the internal emotional dilemmas this young teenage girl is going through. She doesn't want to live, yet she is holed up with 6 other survivors in a high school.

message 4373: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read Kiss Me If You Can (Bachelor Blogs, #1) by Carly Phillips Underwhelmed. As a big rom-com fan, I always want to love her books but I rarely do. It was okay.

message 4374: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm loving Rock Chick Reckoning, honestly it's the best book in the series. I've laughed and cried then laughed again. This is a darker read but it's tugging at my heart.

Probably going to start Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre now!

message 4377: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm reading Playing for Keeps (A Neighbor from Hell #1) by R.L. Mathewson , which I wasn't sure I was going to like, then I liked the middle but now the 'conflict' is so freaking silly that I think it will end up being a 3-star.

I will start Wanderlust (Sirantha Jax, #2) by Ann Aguirre tonight for the buddy read with Courtney and Leea. I hope to keep up with you ladies...I'm planning on my babe's 1 yr old party which is on Sunday. So, I got lots to do before then and I feel a little stressed.

And happy birthday to your baby!!!

message 4387: by Kay (new)

message 4388: by Leea (new)

Leea I cannot believe he's going to be 1! How exciting and I know his party will be a hit. I'm super busy later today and tomorrow, so I wont get much read.

My FIL is coming tomorrow and taking us to Travis Air force Base to go shopping. Looks like i'm going to be able to go with my friend to find a house for her move to O.C. Super excited and so glad my MIL can come and watch the boys while my husband is at work.

This year has flown by...I still can't believe it. My baby is not really a baby anymore :*(

Oh yay...on your get away to the OC. I hope you have fun.

We have family who live at Travis. I love base shopping...tax free!! When I went there a few months ago, they were remodeling the Px...so, hopefully it won't be so messy & cramped when you go.

message 4391: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, he's not a baby anymore. Aww! Is he the last or will you have more?

Oh, I hope it's not all messy. I've got some stuff I need and the last time I was at a base (in Texas) I was buying baby food. haha! We need a booster seat with a high back, I hear they have great sunglasses, purses etc.

message 4392: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I really want another one but I just don't think we can afford it. Childcare is crazy expensive! As for now, we're done but who knows about down the line ;)

they do have nice name brand purses and sunglasses. We buy legos (ninjago) there too since it's tax free and my 4 yr old son is obsessed.

message 4393: by Leea (new)

Leea That's why I don't work. I'd love to go back to work/school but I just can't until Garrett is older. It's so expensive to have kids now days. You're doing a great job Kay. Maybe once one is in school it'll be easier for you.

Legos are huge in our house. We love them all, kids are master builders and make all kids of stuff. I should take a picture of their playroom right now - it's scary messy!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Heads in Beds A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality by Jacob Tomsky and it was hilarious in a very smartass kind of way.

message 4395: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Hi everyone. Yesterday was the first day of school, I now have a 1st grade, 3rd grader and a 7th grader!! My 4 year old can't wait to go back, but that won't be until September. It was a good day. We had found a nodule on Sebastian's (my only son -- 3rd grader) gland on his torso. Our ped was scared - we saw a pediatric surgeon yesterday and she assured us it is nothing to worry about. Such relief. I got my soccer schedules out and I think the heavy lifting of organizing is done for me!!

Kay, your baby cannot be 1!!! I feel like you were just pregnant! Childcare is so expensive. I have a friend that does a "nanny share" where each family pays 1/2 the costs of the nanny and it ends up being less than daycare. Maybe that is an option. I will say though, that we desparately wanted a third after we had our second and well you know we now have 4. Right now it is hard -- having one still in preschool and then one up through middle school. I know it is great, I love my family but it is a lot of work.

OC sounds like fun Leea! My husband has plateaued. We are going back to the doctor. He still can't carry much or walk more than a limping gait. It is a relief that he can walk though and drive. Thanks for asking. His muscles are just disappearing, I feel so bad for him. He has now lost 25 lbs in muscle.

Kay, This is Not A Test was not what I expected at all. I imagined the entire happening to take place in my own high school, I bet most people do when they read it.

I started Endgame (Sirantha Jax, #6) by Ann Aguirre and it is sooooooo good.

Leea, you really want me to spoil you?

Regina (reginar) Tellulah wrote: "I did! And thought it was gorgeous and wonderful and fascinating. Did you like it? "

Tellulah, I had mixed feelings. I think Flynn is an amazing writer. I am so impressed with how she writes and the stories she crafts. I ended up having trouble with the liking of the story because I couldn't stand any of the characters. My review pretty much says it all. I loved her book
Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn and I can't wait to read Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

message 4397: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so glad Sebastian is okay. That must have been so scary. I'm sorry your husband isn't making any progress and hope the doctor can help him move forward. I'm sure he'll need some physical therapy to get his mobility back. At least he can take the kids to school and pick them up. Plus in that time he'll just have the 4 year old.

Although, right now i'm in the same boat, my 4 year old at home all day while our 1st grader is gone till 2:30pm. He misses him and is having a hard time adjusting to his brother being gone. He starts preschool on Sept 10 and i'm counting the days. haha!

I guess, i'll just have to read it. I just love March so much!

I'm having a hard time concentrating to read right now. I think I only read the first two chapters of Wanderlust.

message 4398: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm glad Sebastian is okay, Regina. That must have been scary!

I haven't made it past the 1st chapter of Wanderlust yet. I'm trying to figure out the world again since it's been almost 2 years since I read the first one.

Regina, I'm reading that retweet you posted from Wendy Darling. Very interesting!!

message 4399: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks ladies. :)

He goes to physical therapy 3X a week and has been since the surgery, so that does help.

I love March too!

Totally get where you were coming from with your review. And agree about Tana French. For me, I was fine with their unlikeability balancing each other out. Looking forward to reading Sharp Objects.
