Leea Oh yeah those we're HOT!!!!

Wendy I can start the next one now when you're ready. I'm still rereading the Summer Garden but it's such an emotional read I'm taking my time, that and it's long.

Both are starting out really good. i'm a bit surprised with Deadlocked cause the last novel was just ok. it's been pretty funny so far. and i like seeing more faerie stuff. hopefully it keeps this momentum. hehe.
and i'm really liking Alpha & Omega. Anna and Charles already look like a great pair. it's nice to see more of Charles. he was so elusive in Mercy's books.

message 4003: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I loved A&O *sigh*. Fair Game (the last in the series .... so far hopefully), is the best. You have a lot of good things to look forward to.

message 4004: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments thanks Regina. i like that the relationship starts quicker in this series. it took for ever to find out who Mercy was gonna pick. i know i was confused for a while. if it goes as i'm thinking Anna and Charles won't have all the back and forth like Mercy and Adam.

I'm so ready Leea!! I want more Chess and Terrible! I cried too, btw. Both the second and third book made me cry!

Regina (reginar) I know. :) that is why I am reading it. Your very strong rec. The audio is good so far.

message 4008: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) haha, yeah? I was wondering how it would be on Audio.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hello ladies! Once again I have not been receiving my notifications. How are you all doing? Happy Hump day.

I don't know about the rest of you ladies, but I am over the summer. This week has been so hot and it is only expected to get hotter. I have not been able to sleep in 3 days.

message 4010: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments ooh, poor thing Marcella. i'd be going nuts after 3days. i was able to stay up for 48hrs once and haven't been able to do it since. i was working 12hr shifts and going to school at the same time.

message 4011: by Marcella (last edited Aug 08, 2012 05:58PM) (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Thanks Domino! It hasn't really cooled down at night like it usually does because of the high humidity. We don't get this weather often in Southern California but when we do it is hell on earth. To top it off we have had two earthquakes in less than 24 hours. Kinda freaky if you ask me.

I haven't been able to stay up for 24 hours or more in a long time. Then again, I haven't really tried.

Check your account. I had an issue where I wasn't getting some of my notifications for review comments and when I went in and checked my settings, it turned out that most of my notifications had been turned all the way off, even though I hadn't messed with my account.

Pat Descided to tackle a subject/period I know nothing about. The Yellow House A Novel by Patricia Falvey Hope I learn something! :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That's great, Pat. Every so often, I try to nudge myself into tackling something that's out of my normal types of reads. It's good for us, I think, to branch out here and there.

I'll have to tell my mother...
My mom Is like three steps removed from the chick from Misery when it comes to Stephen King. She owns three copies of each of his books, the first edition that goes on the bookshelves, the copy she reads, and the copy she lends out. She actually laminates the lendables in contact paper, and writes "stolen from Colleen" in the inside cover.

She doesn't do this with any other author, just "Mr. King"

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Wow, that's a hardcore fan.

message 4024: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) Lol I have multiples of some of his books, but that's a fan! Lol I like the laminating idea too. :)

No the quakes weren't too bad. The first one was a 4.4 the other was a 4.5. With the quakes and this weird weather people are uneasy. We call this earthquake weather. Lol!

message 4026: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Yeah...my mother.... I love her, but she can be.....intense. She read the Lord of The Rings books when she was a kid and loved them so much that she taught herself how to write in middle earth whatever, and wrote a letter to J.R. Tolkien telling him that he was her precious, and she loved him, and begging him to come take her away.. etc. she got a form letter back from the publisher saying that he had died in 1963 (the same year she was born)

It was sad really because she was adopted, and shortly after the family had a bunch of kids. I think she never felt she belonged and escaped into books. I definitely get my love of reading from her....but thankfully learned boundaries!

message 4027: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Aug 08, 2012 10:39PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Aw, that's a cute and kind of sad story at the same time.

My mom is an avid reader but she mainly reads inspirational and clean romance. She is straight out of the show Hoarders though, except she's not messy. She probably has thousands of books, although you'd never know it because I think they have like 4 thousand square feet in their house and a ton of closets and bookshelves. She has a TON of stuff but she's very clean and organized with it.

Inspirational and clean romance? What's that saying? Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink?

What are you like? Do you hoard? Or throw away? I throw everything away.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Leea wrote: "It's hot up here, Marcella. 100 - 102 were toasty for sure. Glad you and yours are okay."

Its about the same here too Leea. The killer is the humidity. Can't wait for the cool down. Its pretty sad that I'm looking forward to temps in the high 80s.

Thanks Leea! The quakes were thankfully babies by Cali standards.

Well, she's pretty devout in her beliefs, so she doesn't like to read heavy duty sex scenes. I understand that, but needless to say, she and I don't share books. She's out of touch with most of the mainstream authors. She absolutely thinks Twilight is a horror book.

I actually used to borrow her amish romances because some of those are pretty good. It's almost like reading a historical romance set in modern times.

When I was younger, she got me hooked on the
Love Comes Softly (Love Comes Softly, #1) by Janette Oke series (I love the movies too), so she did have some good reads in there.

But yeah...for the most part our tastes are completely different.

message 4032: by Ali (new)

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments Amish romance... I love that! Yeah, my mom hates my romance.. I think I mentioned that... My sister didn't even know Twilight or Harry Potter was originally a book.... So, I figure...at least I'm reading

message 4033: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (caitlynj) I started Angelfall awhile ago and stopped, and I'm not sure why, so I've started again and it's great, one issue though (view spoiler).
Hey Marcella, I wish I had some of your weather (maybe not all of it) right about now, most of the day was only a bit about 10C so about 50F here today and wet. Guess no one's ever satisfied with the weather.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The second half of Angelfall is very intense. You do make a good spoiler point.

message 4035: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Kearney (makeralfish) Started reading Mr. Darcy and the Secret of Becoming a Gentleman by Maria Hamilton yesterday and its surprisingly good.Slightly Austen-ish with a dash of naughtiness.Enjoying it immensely. Its also kind of breath of fresh air after a marathon reading of A Storm of Swords and A Feast For Crows.

message 4036: by Leea (new)

Leea Starting Home (Downside Ghosts, #3.6) by Stacia Kane and then Sacrificial Magic (Downside Ghosts, #4) by Stacia Kane .

Wendy, do we plan on finishing the series by reading Chasing Magic next. Just asking because Regina and another friend, Tom wanted to read along?

message 4037: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Caitlyn that is a great point about Angelfall, I never thought of it.

I love the mom stories!

Margaret how did you think Feast for Crows Compared to Storm of Swords? I loved Storm of Swords so much, I thought it was by far the best in the series, one of my favorite all time books. But I haven't moved on in the series yet.

Thanks for thinking of me Leea. :) I likely won't be ready for a few weeks, so if you have to go on without me that is totally fine.

That sounds like paradise to me right now. It is supposed to be in the low 100s today and hotter tomorrow. I am miserable. :-(

message 4039: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour, #2) by Olivia Cunning which was quite enjoyable. The author knows how to write sexy scenes!

It's suppose to hit 100 degrees where I am today. Luckily, I'm working from home today so I don't have to leave the house. Plus, the a/c helps!

message 4041: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, it's going to be so hot. I may have to drive and get E from school. Yesterday on our walk he had ran out of water and gave me this look like why are we walking? I felt so bad. Poor guy!

message 4043: by Leea (last edited Aug 09, 2012 11:31AM) (new)

Leea It doesn't bother me, but I lived in South Texas and heat without humidity is easier to handle.

Kay, that's so hot for the East Bay. Stay Cool - you too, Marcella :)

Finished Home, Stacia Kane. Such a cute short, now moving onto Sacrificial Magic. I'm almost giddy with delight. So excited!

message 4044: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I will try if I can get my landlord to do something about the a/c. Cool air comes out but the noise it makes seems like it is going to explode. I am afraid to keep it on.

Ali (aliciaadalaide) | 89 comments I'm currently reading Caught (Gemini Men, #1) by Jami Alden and Husbands by Adele Parks (on audiobook)

I'm not a big fan of romantic suspense, but I'm really liking Caught (Gemini Men, #1) by Jami Alden so far, the h/h have great chemistry and their back story is sweet.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Putting Girl of Nightmares on hold to start Spark (Elemental, #2) by Brigid Kemmerer because I just got approved and I'm hyped.

I'm feeling overwhelmed right now. I committed to a couple of books this week but new stuff and offers keep coming in that I'm having trouble passing up.
