Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Domino, I'm glad you ended up liking A Kingdom of Dreams. I have read all books by Judith McNaught and I read her books out of order too. That didn't take away from the story at all. Have you read her other historicals yet? I love how all the characters reappear in Until You.

Thanks for recs. I will definitely check it out.

Leea I'm back... Yeah, lights out were around 10pm/11pm(saturday) and it was pitch black. The stars were breathtaking and my husband and I were able to have a little wine and enjoyed the quiet before bed.

Kids had a blast, we kayaked, hiked, ate (they provided 3 meals and they were yummy and I didn't have to cook - bonus!) met some new friends, and the kids did lots of art (tie-died shirts). I was not prepared for everyone to be so nice, always checking in with us to make sure we were having a good time.

I didn't get any reading done... I'm still reading Rock Chick Revenge (Rock Chick, #5) by Kristen Ashley and Ava is flippin' annoying.

I hope you all had a great weekend.

message 3203: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Welcome back, Leea!!!

message 3204: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Finished Cast in Shadow (Chronicles of Elantra, #1) by Michelle Sagara West . Such a difficult read and the worldbuilding was terrible. I had no understanding of it at all and the background of the characters weren't even clearly introduced. I won't be continuing this series.

I'll read The Hostage (Great Chicago Fire Trilogy #1) by Susan Wiggs and see how this goes!

message 3205: by Pat (new)

Pat Had to give up on The Orphanmaster by Jean Zimmerman . Just couldn't get involved with either the characters or the plot...so disappointed. No idea where it came up with all the 5 star ratings.

Have now gone back to one of my favourite authors, Susanna Kearsley and her Season of Storms by Susanna Kearsley . Hope I can get into it!

I hate when that happens but I guess that's just how it goes when you read a lot. There will always be some duds in there. :(

Welcome back Leea!

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments @Kay,
yep, i've read Until You, but i don't remember it that well =( gives me a reason to read it over again. hehe. the other books i've read by McNaught are Almost Heaven and Once and Always. i have another book by her called Perfect, but i haven't had a chance to read it. and after adding it to my list i saw it's a sequel. hehe. have u read this trilogy? it's contemporary romance. if so did u enjoy them?

message 3208: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments finished Fallen from Grace. it was a really good read. the plot was great and the characters were developed really well. i'm gonna have to read more by Laura Leone.

message 3209: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Domino, DG and I loved that book too!

message 3210: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Yup, Fallen from Grace is one of my favorites.

I finished Don't Die, Dragonfly (The Seer, #1) by Linda Joy Singleton and I really liked it. There are some similarities to the Soul Screamers series but the world made more sense to me. I'm definitely continuing the series.

Now I'm reading A Lady Awakened (Blackshear Family, #1) by Cecilia Grant . So far this book is just the antithesis of romance but it makes sense. I just hope the rest makes up for that beginning.

message 3211: by Julie (new)

Julie (gpangel) I finished Immortal in Death (In Death, #3) by J.D. Robb and started Bride of Blackness Castle A Gentleman of Substance by Elaine Coffman

I've read all her contemporaries too. It is not as good as her historicals but I did enjoy it. All her books could be stand alone novels but previous characters do reappear. So, the first to that series is Paradise (Second Opportunities, #1) by Judith McNaught . A lot of people love Paradise and Perfect the most but I actually like Double Standards by Judith McNaught (a stand alone) the better.

message 3213: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments So, after I finished Whitney, My Love (Westmoreland, #2) by Judith McNaught , I decided to re-read some of her other books. I finished Once and Always by Judith McNaught yesterday and started Something Wonderful by Judith McNaught last night. I will just continue on this McNaught binge reading and finish all her historicals by the end of the week. *sigh* I need Judith McNaught to come out of hiding and start writing again.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hello ladies! I about half way through Rock Chick Reckoning (Rock Chick #6) by Kristen Ashley . I was looking forward to this one because Mace is one of my favorites. The rock chick in this one is a little annoying but more tolerable than the other. Jules is still my fave rock chick.

Leea...I found Ava extremely annoying as well. She was one of the worst for me. I'm still questioning whether or not she is worthy of Luke.

Okay, have to check this series out. So much chat about it. Am intrigued.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments It is great Tellulah. However, I must warn you that the female characters are annoying as hell. I have the books if you are interested.

Thanks, Marcella!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Happy Bday Kay! I didn't know it was your special day. Do you have any fun plans?

message 3221: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh wow, Kay it is your birthday!!??? I hope you are at home and have the day off! Happy Happy Birthday!!!

message 3222: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks Regina and Stacia! Unfortunately, I'm working today. I have no plans. I'm taking my 4 year old to his hip hop class and then ordering take out from my fave sushi joint. That's about it. I usually don't celebrate my birthday since I hate feeling a year older. LOL

message 3223: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Happy Birthday, Kay! I hope you have a great day!!

message 3224: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thank you, DG!!

message 3225: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Aww, but I know what you mean. My birthday is usally anti-climatic too. But I always eat sushi on my birthay too. Tomorrow is my poor old injured husband's birthday and I was planning on getting him sushi too. :) I wonder if it is a popular birthday cuisine?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Birthdays do seem to get to be less appealing the older you get. Even so, I hope you get a chance to do something nice for yourself today.

message 3227: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks stacia.

Regina, happy early birthday to your injured husband!! We order sushi to celebrate just b/c it's so expensive and it's something that we don't order too often. That is why we're ordering sushi today...plus it's my choice as the bday gal! LOL

message 3228: by D.G. (new)

D.G. So today I saw a guy on the street that would be the perfect model for a lion shapeshifter. He had this mane of tawny hair and beard, he was at least 6'3 or 6'4, muscular and extremely hot (he even looked good with all that hair.)

Luckily we were waiting on the opposite side of the streets so I was able to take a leisure look.

Courtney | 337 comments Happy Birthday, Kay! Hope it's filled with love and joy, at least!

message 3230: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay that is why we do it too! IT is tricky b/c my 4 kid are such vultures and love sushi, so I am trying to figure out how to do it so I don't have to feed them sushi too (sushi for 6 is pricey!).

And speaking of yummmm, -- yum DG!! What a pleasant afternoon. ;)

Don't feel bad Kay. Friday was my birthday and I had to work. I did get to go see Brave and eat at my favorite pizza place though.

I will send them to you when I get home. I know I have up until book 6. I have to see if I have book 7.

message 3237: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments DG,when you were describing him for some reason I was picturing the character from Tempting the Beast (Breeds #1) by Lora Leigh . I wonder if the guy has a barb. Hahah...I'm just kidding.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina wrote: "Marcella -- happy belated birthday! Yay for going to the movies, that is always fun. :) What do you get on your pizza?"

Thanks Regina! Well the toppings on my pizza depend on where I get my pizza from. There is a place I love that has New York style pizza and I only get cheese on that because, trust me, that is all you need on that pizza. Other toppings kill it. The place I went to Friday I usually get Big "D", which is like the works, which I usually don't like but theirs is to die for. Otherwise I am a pepperoni and olives kind of gal.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! All the time I was looking at him, I was thinking 'come to mama!' I had to stop myself to looking at his butt when we crossed the street.

He also had an extremely confident swagger (but in a good way.) I wondered if he was in a movie because why have that beard? It was really bushy!

message 3241: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Mmmmmm, that sounds fabulous. Chicago is a pizza town, especially where I love -- there is one of those NY style places and I love it.

There is a Chicago style pizzza place not far from me. I love it. I usually enjoy thin crust but every once in a while I will get a Chicago style pizza. I love New York pizza. The best NY pizza I had is at the New York New York in Las Vegas. Yummy! Damn now I want pizza.

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Tellulah wrote: "Thanks and a lovely happy belated to you, Marcella! Did you enjoy Brave?"

Thanks Tellulah! I loved the movie. It was great! It was very mature for an animated movie. There was a real story.

message 3246: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I prefer thin too. :)

message 3247: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Man, now you're making me want to eat some pizza. There's a place a couple of blocks from me where they sell a slice for $2.

But I'll be good and eat something from Energy Kitchen. My husband is teaching today so there won't be any dinner when I come home tonight!

message 3248: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Aww, poor baby! LOL, I am the same way. And right now we are going on 4 weeks of no cooking by my hubby!

message 3249: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I know! It's terrible! Having to figure out by myself what to eat! :p

Usually I end up ordering something...there's a Peruvian place by my house and their chicken is so good! But I ordered that last week so I have to mix it up. :)

message 3250: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Happy birthday Kay!

Happy birthday to you, you're still young.
Age is just a number, don't you stop having fun.
This is your day, your day, happy birthday to you.
This day only comes once every year,
Because you're so wonderful with each and everything you do, hey!
