Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm reading Giving It Up by Amber Lin right now.

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Kay, that sounds like a good book. I'll be looking forward to what you think of it.

The ones I use are JVC Gumy. I bought several at Amazon for $7 each and I keep one at work and one in my gym bag. They work surprisingly well for such cheap headphones.

So far it's okay. I'm hoping it'll pick up for me.

D.G. I finished Envy by Sandra Brown and it was one of the best romantic suspense books I've read. It had one of the most despicable villains I've ever had the misfortune to read, the book was really suspenseful without crazy action or having the main characters having sex while on the run, and there were TONS of good twists. A few things I really didn't see coming.

I read a couple of historical westerns from her which I adored. I've been meaning to try her romantic suspense books. I'm glad to hear you liked it.

message 2757: by Leea (new)

Leea oooh she writes good Western Historical. I've been looking for some to read. I'll have to check those out.

This made me laugh.
But too true for many books, and also movies. Makes me irritated because how likely would a person be to jump in the sack when their life is being threatened and they're running.

She doesn't have many. I found it on the Listopia for Favorite Historical Westerns. I'll send you the suggestions. If you want to read it, let me know and I can lend it to you.

I've read several by her and this is the best by far. The only problem I have with her is that she's fond of a million POVs. Just when something is getting exciting, she's fond of switching to somebody else.

Her books also make great audios.

message 2761: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Does she do POVs of the bad guys? I really hate that .....

message 2762: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "Does she do POVs of the bad guys? I really hate that ....."

Oh yes. She also loves to show the villains have kinky sex (I just roll my eyes when this happens.)

message 2763: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh, lol. I likely won't be able to handle her books then. I hate the bad guy POV.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That's interesting Regina. I know that I couldn't stand the bad guy PoVs in BDB but was completely into the serial killer PoV in The Body Finder. I guess I'd never thought about it before. Sometimes it works for me and sometimes it doesn't.

message 2765: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm not much for the bad guy POV in the BDB either.

In this book it took a while to figure out who was the good guy so having both POVs was important.

message 2766: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I hated the Lesser POV in Wrath, it got slightly better with Mr. O in Rhage's book, but still the only time I found it at least tolerable was Lash.

Normally I'm not fond of the bad guy POV.

message 2767: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) It is a typical plot storyline method in romantic suspense (not in Brockmann thankfully) that I just do not like. NOt sure why, I have never read The Body Finder so maybe I would like that.

BDB is the classic of it being a bad storyline!

Agreed about Lash.

message 2768: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Just found out!!! (view spoiler) THanks ladies. :))))))))

message 2769: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Congrats Regina!

message 2770: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments yay, regina! That's great!

I usually don't like the bad guys' POVs in stories but I agree with Stacia, that the POV in The Body Finder was executed well. I hated the Lesser POVs in BDB too. Especially in the beginning of the series with Mr. X and the other lettered lessers. I generally skimmed those parts. But in Lover Reborn, I didn't mind the POVs with the Band of Brothers.

message 2771: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I don't know that I consider them 'bad guys'. Definitely darker than the BDB, but not necessarily the bad guy.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Great news Regina, glad to hear it! I hope this doesn't cause a lot of tension with you and your employer though.

I still need to read Body Finder 2 and 3. The first one really impressed me. Even though the love story was overly sappy to the point of being a bit overdone, it was still cute and the serial killing storyline balanced everything quite nicely.

message 2773: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That's great news, Regina. :)

I soo want to leave the office. This day has been interminable.

I need to read #2 & #3 also. Another buddy read in our future?

message 2776: by Leea (new)

Leea That's great, Regina! Yahooo!!

Kay, I'd love to borrow those books, Thank you!

I loath the Lesser POV's in BDB. When we started re-reading (me and WendyF.) I had so skim.

In lover Reborn those bad boy parts were somehow different.

It's in the mid 70's here and i'm cold. lol! Crazy weather...

message 2777: by D.G. (new)

D.G. It's mid 90s here in NYC.

message 2778: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) We're at 84 here in Michigan.

message 2779: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Buurrrr....I'm freezing too, mid 70's in the SF Bay Area.

Sure. Sounds like a great idea. It would give me a reason to pick up book 2.

We're supposed to be in the 90's for the next 5 days and then it's going to get cold for a few days. That's Colorado for you though. The weather is unpredictable.

message 2781: by Leea (new)

Leea It's normally in the upper 90's here and hot! We're headed to a baseball game tonight and I think I need to find the boys long pants and jackets. Haha!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Off topic but since you mentioned going out, we were supposed to go up to Denver to go the museum tomorrow and the newer car just broke down. We now have two cars in need of repair and one of them is stuck in Denver. Sheesh. When it rains, it pours.

message 2783: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh Stacia, that really stinks. I am sorry. I really hate car stuff and unexpected expenses that interfere with life.

DG, I say leave work now -- it is only 15 minutes before 5!

IT is hot here in Chicago.

message 2784: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm sorry, Stacia. I hate it when that happens cuz mechanics charge too much to get cars fixed. I paid $2000 last month for my car and it didn't even breakdown.

I wish it was 15 minutes until 5. I still have to wait 3 hours :(

message 2785: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That sucks, Stacia.

My boss is working from home but he's been asking questions for the last hour. Grrr...

message 2786: by Leea (last edited Jun 22, 2012 02:08PM) (new)

Leea I'm sorry, Stacia. That just stinks. I need rear breaks and i'm scared to find out how much that's going to be. I'm also terrified that i'll need tires... it's going to be like $1200. Okay, i'm going to block that out. AHH!

Sorry, I took us off topic.

message 2787: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Regina...I am so happy your work issues are resolved. I am used to being at the ass end of one of my boss's mood swings or rants so I feel your pain. You think with my boss being a Work Comp attorney she would know how not to treat people. It's pretty laughable.

Stacia...sorry about your car. Hope it works out.

Leea and Kay...you two are crazy. Mid-70's is paradise for me. I hate the heat so I am content with 70's.

D.G....whenever both my boss' are out of town (they are husband and wife) they give me more work. I get bombarded with emails from them on things I need to do. It's a nightmare. You think with them gone, I would have peace and quiet. Hells to the NO!

message 2788: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Marcella, are you planning on going to Anaheim for that book signing? http://www.rwa.org/cs/literacy_autogr... How far is Anaheim from you?

I didn't even know about it. How do you ladies find out about all this stuff? LOL! Anaheim is not far from me. It is about a 40-minute drive...if there is no traffic.

message 2790: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments oh, you are so close! I wish I could go :(

message 2791: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Why can't you go? We could totally go together. That would be so much fun!

message 2792: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I know, I'd love to finally meet you! But I can't do it. It's a Wednesday night, gotta find someone to watch the kids and then find a way down to Anaheim. If I was single, I would drop everything and go down there.

message 2793: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Well that is a bummer. It would have been great to finally meet you too. Going there on a Wednesday will be bad and especially if there is an Angels baseball game that night. Traffic will be C-R-A-Z-Y!!!

message 2794: by Leea (new)

Leea If you go Marcella you'll have to share on the important info with us :)

message 2795: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Regina - Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine is pretty good so far. Very technical in terms of the weather. Makes me a little cross-eyed haha!

D.G. - Yeah, I was quite disappointed. It had high ratings, too. (How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf)

message 2796: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I finished My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent which I enjoyed even if the PNR plot was a bit weird. Now I'm listening to The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Just finished Wool 3 Casting Off by Hugh Howey and I want to talk to someone about it. I have a question about Juliette.

message 2798: by Gwennie (new)
