Courtney | 337 comments Marcella - I'm sorry that happened to you! I agree with Kay and Regina.

Regina - Hope your husband heals up quickly!

I just finished The Bride and the Beast (Fairy Tales, #2) by Teresa Medeiros . Did not like it. That's all I have to say!

Gosh, I need a really good book for my next one!

Kelly ~ happily oblivious | 102 comments Marcella, sorry to hear that you are feeling shut out of the other group. That never feels good, especially when you have grown close to them. The ladies here have given some great advice and I totally agree.
Plus, I must say that I feel so fortunate to have found this group. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. I'm constantly mentioning this group to my husband. He thinks it is great that I've been able to connect with others having similar interests.

message 2654: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Yes, sorry about that experience. There are definitely groups that feel safer? more welcoming? than others. This one is lovely. As is YA-MA with many of the same people. :)

message 2655: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Thanks for the support ladies it means a lot. Good to know I haven't been shunned here.

I love you all!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Read Wrapped Around Your Finger by Fallon Blake and I really enjoyed it for an erotic short. So much happened in such a small amount of pages.

Now onto a buddy read with Kay of Want by Stephanie Lawton

message 2657: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Stacia, I got stalled around the beginning after she agrees and is in his office. I need to pick it up again.

message 2658: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jun 19, 2012 02:13PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's not a big investment because it's not that long.

What was nice is that the relationship felt warm and trusting. Not like a cold version of a dom and sub.

message 2659: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That is a nice change. I may read it tonight if I can find the time.

message 2660: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Guess I'll start on The Becoming (Anna Strong Chronicles, #1) by Jeanne C. Stein and see how it goes. Not very good ratings but who knows! Maybe I'll like it and it's short.

message 2661: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading Island of Lost Girls by Jennifer McMahon and now I'm a couple of chapters into Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James.

message 2662: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I finished the prequel novella My Soul to Lose (Soul Screamers, #0.5) by Rachel Vincent , which I liked very much. Now I'm moving onto My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent which is my book for the Bingo game.

I'm also listening to Envy by Sandra Brown which is going well too. The narration is really good too.

message 2663: by Domino (aka Meme) (new)

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments ooh, D.G. i really enjoyed Envy. i also listened to it as well. loved the narration. Sandra Brown was one of my first authors. i loved her stuff. glad ur liking it.

Hey Courtney!! That looks good, can't wait to hear what you think.

Welcome Jom!

I stalled out on the mortal Instruments, read to book 3.

message 2667: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I stalled out too, but I always love those covers. They are so beautiful.

message 2668: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I just didn't feel like continuing the series. I like how it ended with book 3 :)

I really don't know what to read next. I might start this galley, The Theory of Attraction by Delphine Dryden or Wool 2? Not sure. I need a reset after Into the Night (Troubleshooters, #5) by Suzanne Brockmann something short but good.

I also, feel like i'm supposed to buddy read with someone and i've forgotten... yet again! I really need to put this stuff on my calendar.

Leea how could you have not finished the Mortal Instruments? It was such a great series. So is the prequel, The Infernal Devices series. You have to finish!

I know... I read the first 3 books and then I just didn't continue. Man there are so many books I WANT to read. It'll never run out of books. haha!

message 2672: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - It's actually not too bad and I'm almost halfway through. It's probably because I've read a string of disastrous books recently.

message 2673: by Jocelin (new)

Jocelin | 85 comments Not reading any romance right now; currently reading Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith . Looking forward to seeing the movie.

I wanna read that too.

message 2675: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I'm done with The Becoming (Anna Strong Chronicles, #1) by Jeanne C. Stein . It was better than I thought it would be. A nice quick and easy read. I'll definitely be getting the next book because I want to find out for sure who her romance counterpart will be and find out who this mysterious person is that's in the book.

Now I'm going to read The Stranger I Married by Sylvia Day .

And yes, I stay up til 4 AM almost everyday reading. It's crazy!

message 2676: by Leea (new)

Leea That is crazy! Do you at least sleep in? My kids are up early so I try to get as much sleep as I can :)

I'm decided to read something already on my Kindle, what a strange idea haha!

Aftertime (Aftertime, #1) by Sophie Littlefield i'm in the mood for a little zombie action. I hope this resets me. Regina rec it to me a long time ago.

I had no idea this was a book. I am so excited to see the movie!

message 2678: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Want by Stephanie Lawton which I liked. I'm still working on Into the Night (Troubleshooters, #5) by Suzanne Brockmann but it's not really holding my attention like Out of Control.

message 2679: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay, it is definitely the weakest (absent 1 and 2) in the series. It is such a transition book, important storylines but unfortunately not as captivating as Out of Control. The next one is though!

my husband (being immobile) is reading Wool right now. :)

Leea, I hope you like it! I loved it -- many of my GR friends LOVED that series -- others were lukewarm. I think people who really wanted only zombies/post apoc didn't like the romance and personal development storyline -- and others who wanted more of a romance (and there is one there with some good sex scenes) didn't like that it wasn't a solid beautiful romance. I look forward to your thoughts. The mother part was so emotional for me.

message 2680: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Leea - Haha, yeah, I do sleep in. Usually I wake up at 2 PM, which is also crazy. My whole day is gone. But I'm a night person. Soon I'll have to wake up at 7 AM because I have a summer class that starts at 8 AM. What a bummer.

Last night I couldn't sleep because I had coffee. SO I didn't sleep until 6 am. I was tossing and turning.

message 2681: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments oh yay...you're husband is reading Wool. You'll have to let us know how he likes it. I still need to read #2.

I'll have to try and push myself to finish Into the Night. I really wanted to join in on the convo you guys are having in the Troubleshooters thread. Well, we'll just see when I will finish.

My husband is like that. He likes to stay up all night, go to sleep at 5-6am and wake up in the early afternoon. Whenever he's off from work, his body natural rhythm goes back to that.

Remember he's a bat, LOL!

Of course, when he teaches in the morning, it's murder for him because he has to force himself to go to sleep at 1-2am. Luckily this next Summer session he'll be teaching in the evenings so he can sleep in all he wants.

I need to read wool 2 - also :)

We're chatting about Into the Night in the Troubleshooter thread. It was a difficult book for each of us to get through.

I really liked Want (not Skinny Bitch, hah!). Sorry, I haven't had time to talk about it yet. The story was a perfect example of how a book about pain can be beautiful. The ending was not what I wanted but I loved how it came together anyway.

I wish I was a professor. :D

message 2688: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia....OH, I want to be a Skinny Bitch!! LMAO!!

The ending definitely wasn't what I wanted either but it was what it had to be. I really liked Isaac and how the author described him when Juli first met him...as a man, not a boy. (view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) For the first half of the book I thought (view spoiler)

The ending was perfect. (view spoiler)

Overall, the book was more than I expected it to be. The scene with (view spoiler) melted my heart. Especially when we saw his PoV and how he was thinking about whether or not to go back.

message 2690: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay, I love that description too (alhtough I haven't read the book). It reminds me of one of my very favorite description of my favorite hero on troubleshoorts (Izzy) in Into the Fire (Troubleshooters, #13) by Suzanne Brockmann where the heroine (Eden) sees Izzy dressing down the hall of his apartment and she thinks to herself, "I suddenly realized that up until now every guy I had ever known was a boy, but Izzy was a man." God, not sure why but I love that.

message 2691: by D.G. (last edited Jun 20, 2012 02:56PM) (new)

D.G. He's been really grumbly this Summer because he's had to do a LOT of extra paperwork and crap (which he hates.) Just yesterday he was telling me that he's not refreshed at all and hasn't enjoyed the summer! I tried to be sympathetic but internally I was like what about us poor souls that have to work normal hours in the Summer? But then he realized what he was saying and he was all "I'm just a spoiled baby." :)

But he's always depressed at the beginning of the Summer (his first wife died then.)

message 2692: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, I love it too when an author can write and distinguish the difference between a man and a boy. Men are just so much more sexier than boys.

Stacia, I agree about the beginning (view spoiler)

I also loved the ending where (view spoiler)So sweet!!!

I know! The plans he had...his added PoV really made the entire book for me. I'm tearing up now just thinking about it. Part of me thinks I'm doing the book a disservice by not rating it a 5 star book because I really thought it was so beautiful. I'm just not sure if it's one of my favorites, even though it was an incredible read.

Just checked and the author has another book. I am going to have to read it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Btw...how old was (view spoiler)
