Kay I have had many nights like that, I am glad you had a good book to help you through it. I agree about Ruby, she was much cooler than I was and had her shit together more than I ever did. I hope you got some sleep. I thought each book in the series got progressively better, funner and just more amazing. DG, I remember being very satisfied with the ending of Faithful Place. Which is unusal with Tana French.

That is an amazing avatar Marcella! Oh, I didn't know it took place there (where I went to undergrad and law school) -- I am going to have to look into reading it. :)

D.G. I will let you know what I think of the book as soon as I am done with it. I have other friends who loved it so it is interesting you didn't like the way it turned out. I scared now! He he!

I finished Faithful Place and you were right, Regina! The ending was a bit hopeful. I thought the book was going to end with (view spoiler)
Yes! It was so odd, (view spoiler)The weird thing about her books is that the subsequent book is only in the same worldish, but different characters. And each time she moves on to a new character I think -- I don't want to read about him/her. But then I love the book. I am feeling the same way about #4
the lead appeared in #3 and I wasn't interested. But I am sure it will be fabulous.I found Tana French b/c Stacia Kane had rated her books 5 stars each. I will always be thankful. I love them. Even if I do have issues with #1 and #2 -- I love them.
@Regina... A few days, I guess. Yes, it's long, but generally interesting, so I didn't have stalling periods of putting it down. I know the author has many other books, but am not as interested in the medieval period. This is still... WWI, spies, battles, revolutions and so on which I am interested in. I'll probably read the 2nd book when it comes out.

Ooh! You've got your hands on #4. Can't wait to read it. The Likeness continues to stay with me long after I read it.
Ha, good comparison. If you plan to read 1 or 2, you should read 1 first. The character that is continued on in 2 and her experiences only makes sense in light of the ending of 1.
So, I am reading
and it is actually good! Despite being vague on the how of the apocalypse and the how of the time travel, I am enjoying it. People looking for details as to how or why that stuff happens wouldn't enjoy it. Usually PNRs lose me by the first 5 pages, but this one hasn't.
I think the only PNR I've ever really liked was BDB. I keep my eyes open for other good ones.

I just read a friends review and it sounds HILARIOUS, if it's done right. I think I'm going to have to get my hands on that one and give it a shot.

and got a little ranty over that one. It's been a bad week for me and ranting I think. Still working on Hammered but my mind doesn't seem to want to be processing it, so I might put it on hold for a day or two and try to reset with a romance or something. Maybe a Kleypas...not sure yet.

Tellulah -- i LOVED the Likeness. Loved it. I sort of idealized the (view spoiler) Donna Tartt's
, which was written first, was similar in a way. It is about a group of extremely smart college/grad students who form an insular circle and bad things happen. :) I don't have Broken Harbour which I am sad about. The ARCs are only going to professional reviewers like at NYT. ;) So I will be buying it! I am so excited you like Tana French Tallulah!

Stacia, the first few chapters of Hammered were hard for me. I think it was just... too jumbled, starting out in an action scene. I'm half way through it now, and it's much better.

Isa wrote a fabulous review for it. It is absolutely beautiful. I love the idea of living in a stark wilderness and this is the setting (although I actually couldn't deal I am sure).

I've finished Deadlocked by Charlaine Harris this afternoon and now I'm reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch.
Okay, I can't wait to read more of Sleeping with the Wolf tonight. I think I want to accidentally time travel via airplane (LOST flashback) to the future where a virus has killed all the women and men fight for the right to be with me -- and the one who wins is an alpha of a wolf pack and he is of native american ancestry. Oh -- and he has learned about romance and sex by reading romance novels. :) LOL -- sounds ideal doesn't?

I hit the halfway point and got kind of bored with Sleeping with the Wolf. I sitll like some things about it, but I will likely give it 3 stars. There are also some editing/grammar errors. I am glad I read it though. I would love for a really good romance based post-apoc book (not dystopia which has its share). I loved the Aftertime series which had this -- if anyone knows of a series like that, please let me know. :)

I hope you like it, I believe Kay enjoyed it. :) The main character is a recovering alcoholic and has memories of a painful and shameful past (both done to her and what she did when she was drinking) and she is a mom so there is that dynamic as well. I loved her personal journey and her journey to a HEA. It is not a typical road to a HEA at all - -and the HEA only happens at the end of the third book, so be prepared.
