Regina (reginar) Angie I was referring to the TS series.

But as to black dagger the first is definitely the weakest in the series in my opinion. Some others in this list may disagree. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think we all agree that book 1 of BDB was weak compared to the series.

I actually wasn't a fan of the one DH book that I read but I love her League series.

This is what happens when I'm not paying attention.

I totally agree on the Troubleshooters. To be honest, I'm not sure why I kept reading after the first two. OK. That's a lie. It was Sam and Alyssa. LOL I'm glad I did, though. They were so good.

message 7254: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) I'll keep that in mind, about the Troubleshooter series. But my OCD when it comes to books doesn't often allow me to jump into a series without having at least skimmed the 1st book - LOL!

As for the Black Dagger Brotherhood... well, since this series is my one and only vampire series and out of my "typical" reads, I thought Book 1 (Dark Lover) was good. It grabbed me. And had I not read it, I'd have been lost with the other books. But that's me! However, I can see the point, since her writing did seem to get into the groove around book #3.

message 7255: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina wrote: "Lori FYI the first two in the series are just okay. #3 is where the series takes off. Leea and Wendy refused (lol) but I often recommend starting with #3."

Regina says that but know they are not that bad :) I know for me it was a good foundation for the series of characters you know throughout. It's just when you compare those first 2 books to the later books her writing has improved.

message 7256: by Leea (new)

Leea Have you ladies started Beautiful Bad Man by Ellen O'Connell ? I hope to start it tomorrow and catch up to you.

I just started this one.

message 7258: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I haven't quite started yet. Doing some work in my hotel and waiting for a fish and chips delivery, I should start in a few hours. ;)

message 7259: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) LOL Leea.

message 7260: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Regina did tell us to start with Troubleshooters 3, BUT, I couldn't do it! I actually didn't mind the first and second book, myself. I'm glad that I read them and I thought they were fun. They do get better though.

BDB is awwwwwesome! I love that series. The first and 6th books were my least favorites.

message 7261: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments OK, gals. I'm digging in. Hopefully I'll be able to make myself stop after a couple of chapters, because I need sleep!

I doubt it'll happen.

message 7262: by Leea (new)

Leea I stopped reading Into the Storm with 91% left with tonight... i'm just so tired. Soooo, i'll be able to start Beautiful Bad Man tomorrow, mid morning.

Can't wait to join you.

Regina, i've been craving Fish and Chips! Hormonal I guess.

message 7263: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Hello ladies!

I am reading Special Forces - Soldiers (Special Forces, #1) by Marquesate . This is a rough one. I had no idea it was so fricking long. This is the slowest read ever. There is so much in this book that does not need to be in the book. It is so repetitive. I just want it to be over.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It is SO long. That's one of those books which would have improved by a lot if even a couple of repetitive scenes were cut out. It's worth the read but I was dragging through it too.

Finished Requiem (Delirium, #3) by Lauren Oliver and I'm ready to kick a puppy right about now. Eff that.

message 7265: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I am struggling with this one Stacia. I have never had such a difficult time with a book like this in a long time. There is just so much of it that should have been cut out. And I agree with you that it would be much improved if scenes were cut out. It's like enough already...we get it.

I hadn't realized Requiem was out already. I thought it came out in March. Now I am scared. Lol!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I had an advanced copy. I think March is the release date.

I'm not saying to avoid reading it but I will say to go in with lowered expectations. You might as well read it anyway because it's going to be a t.v. show.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh, and that's part of why I won't read the second Special Forces book. It took me so long to read the first one and I was rolling my eyes at how many scenes were repeated. It was one of those books where I did like it in the end, but wasn't in any mood to revisit that story.

message 7268: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Well you got me curious. I will see how the book is when it comes out. I will be reading it with a few girls who love the series. This should be interesting.

I do not like the idea of not finishing a series but the first Special Forcesbook is dragging. I may revisit it when I am inbetween books or read it along with another book so I can have a break.

I ended up dnfing it because I couldn't be handle the violence. I know wendy and Leea ultimately found it rewarding.

I ended up not eating the "chips" but the fish was great!

message 7271: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ugh -- I just realized that I don't have Beautiful Bad Man by Ellen O'Connell loaded on my kindle and I am traveling. I could read it on my phone, but it is risky as my phone runs out of batteries. I am going to try and email it to my kindle or I will just buy it.

message 7272: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) LOL, I loved the first one. I couldn't put it down and while some of the sex could have been cut out, I thought that if it had been too much shorter I NEVER would have believed that they could overcome the what happened in the first section. I needed page time and the slow growth to believe it.

The second book was more repetitive, and repetitive where I could find no reason at all. I still marked it high, because I still love Dan and Vadim, but if you couldn't handle the slowness of the first book, you def wouldn't like the second.

What series is this, Wendy?

message 7274: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Special Forces

Special Forces - Soldiers (Special Forces, #1) by Marquesate Special Forces - Mercenaries Part I (Special Forces, #2 part 1) by Marquesate Special Forces - Mercenaries Part II (Special Forces, #2 part 2) by Marquesate Special Forces - Veterans (Special Forces, #3) by Marquesate

It's a very violent loooong M/M story, lol.

Ok. That's why I haven't heard of it. LOL

message 7277: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I know! We need to fit the next one into our buddy reads, lol.

message 7278: by Leea (new)

Leea Too many books not enough time. Haha!

message 7279: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Wendy...the first book is moving very slow for me. I do love Dan and Vadim. Now I am even more worried now to move on to the second book.

message 7280: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Special Forces - yep, some repetition, lots of violence, and other stuff...but I got HOOKED on Dan & Vadim. I had to read it ALL - and I've even gone back for round 2 of the re-read recently.

What can I say? When I get hooked on a series - esp. a set of characters and their story, I am HOOKED.

LOL, which is why I'm on book #4 of the BDB right now. Just started again on Monday. I'm abt 1 book each day. Just. Can't. Help. Myself! Can't wait for the next book, even though it's coming out soon - March, right?

message 7281: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I loved the BDB series. I know many of the ladies do not like book 1 or 6 but book 1 got me hooked to the series so it holds a special place in my heart. As far as book 6 is concerned, I thought it didn't do Phury justice, I liked it because it was Phury's book, whom I adore.

message 7282: by Leea (new)

Leea Regina, did you ever get Beautiful Bad Man on your reader? Let me know if you need me to do anything...

Finished Into the storm, standing in the doctors office with boy boys who have strep... Ugh! Now i'm going to start Beautiful Bad Man, how far is everyone?

It is my first. I love it so far!

I put in my status update that I love the grittiness of her characters. They're rough around the edges, but you can't help but like them anyway.

message 7286: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I am 42% into Beautiful Bad Man. It is a bit slow in the beginning but I am liking it.

Did you bring your computer with you? And what about your kindle plug? Can your kindle download files through a link?

message 7288: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm now 9% into beautiful bad man and I know I'm going to love Norah. Poor thing! To chap 3... Angie, o'connell has this way for making the harsh realities of country life be balanced by love and sweet tenderness. You'll have to read her other books.

Kay, I can't wait to get deeper into the story.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Pivot Point (Pivot Point, #1) by Kasie West and ended up liking it a lot better than I originally thought I would. The start was sort of dull (not boring, just not exciting) but the last part of the book was intense and I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book.

If you've seen the movie Sliding Doors, it's got that sort of thing going on with two paths, two lives.

Yes, she certainly does.

I feel like I shouldn't like Cal, but I can't help it. I like him anyway.

message 7292: by Leea (new)

Leea I know what you mean, but I love him :)

message 7293: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I didn't bring my home computer so I can't. :( with Angie's help I emailed it to amazon but it never showed up. :(

So I will have to wait until I get home tonight. I am at airport now and am hoping to land by 8 pm and be at my house by 9.

message 7295: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I just tried, too, Leea. LOL

message 7296: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Finally a home! Had some wine, cuddled with he kids, talked with he hubby and am going to settle down to read: Beautiful Bad Man by Ellen O'Connell

message 7297: by Leea (new)

Leea Yay! I stopped at 34%... I can't wait to hear what you think. I'm sure you're happy to be home. Enjoy those snuggles :)

message 7298: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I think we probably stopped at the same place, Leea. It's killing me, but I have to be up early for work. I'm loving the story so far.

I have to admit, whenever I've read any kind of historical, I've preferred Regency or Victorian England. I've never cared for America as a setting unless I'm reading a contemporary romance. I think Pamela Clare changed all that.

message 7299: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Beautiful Bad Man by Ellen O'Connell and I enjoyed it. I liked how this book concentrated on the couple's relationship and their abilities to protect their land. I thought it wrapped up a bit too fast and nicely but I still really liked this book. I can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks.

message 7300: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Omg!! You ladies are going to think I am a huge idiot. Lol. I never read Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold last weekend I actually read Beautiful Bad Man thinking I was reading Eyes. Then when I was done I removed it off of my kindle. My only excuse is that I started at 1 am so I wasn't thinking clearly!! So I guess I beat you ladies in the buddy read. Lol.

I loved this book. I did like Caleb and felt horrible for him. I also liked that Norah didn't see herself as how he did. Her (view spoiler) broke my heart and cried when she told that story. The focus on the land and their hard work and their growing relationship was beautiful and I love that in stories. I loved how they had a partnership and that in the beginning their fantasies of the other didn't match reality. And I loved the sex scenes.
