Thanks, Regina. Maybe I can keep up with this series, since it starts as 1 :)

message 6856: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Anybody watched Downton Abbey last night? I'm sooo depressed. I barely slept a wink.

message 6857: by Leea (new)

Leea Yes, that was an intense episode. I think we're about to see the Granthams story to take a turn here.

message 6865: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I finsished The One I Left Behind by Jennifer McMahon and I enjoyed it. Now I am reading another ARC (I feel so productive!) The Tin Horse A Novel by Janice Steinberg and still listening to: Outpost (Razorland, #2) by Ann Aguirre

I felt so bad for him. We usually try to avoid movies with those topics but that one just sneaked up on us.

message 6867: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I just finished Smokeless Fire (Fire Spirits, #1) by Samantha Young , which I enjoyed a lot. I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Then I started The Jezebel by Saskia Walker which is just meh. Yes, it's hot but so far the plot is a bit out there.

I'm also in my classic mystery kick. It seems that's all I've been listening lately.

message 6868: by Mary23nm (new)

Mary23nm | 10 comments Just finished Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold by Ellen O'Connell
It was very good!

message 6869: by Leea (new)

Leea Mary 23, I want to read that so bad. I need a good historical or western romance.

message 6870: by Mary23nm (new)

Mary23nm | 10 comments I bought the kindle version for only $2.99 on Amazon.
Dancing on Coals was great too.

I added this to my list. Is this a clean romance or is there steam in it?

message 6872: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm going to start this tomorrow Kay, if you want to join me :)

message 6873: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Sounds good, Leea. I might start a bit tonight.

I just finished watching last night's episode of Downton Abbey and now, my heart is broken. *tear*

message 6874: by Leea (last edited Jan 28, 2013 09:51PM) (new)

Leea I know, (view spoiler)

Yay!! Can't wait to chat with you about it tomorrow.

My youngest is sick and I was in a panic tonight because I thought it may be his appendix. After talking with his doctor (thank goodness she was the on call dr. tonight :) we decided to just take him into see her first thing tomorrow. Oh, the poor guy has a 102 fever, he's lethargic, wont eat and has been throwing up. I hope he feels better tomorrow.

I'm sorry about your son. It's always hard when they are sick. Hope he feels better soon.

message 6876: by Leea (new)

Leea Kay, Downton... (view spoiler) Did you know if you have amazon prime they're releasing the whole 3rd season to watch... i'm conflicted? Watch it all and gorge myself on Downton or wait. yikes!

message 6877: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I agree about Maggie. Also, I wonder how Lord & Lady Granthum will be in the next episodes. Talk about tension.

I do have Prime. I didn't realize that season 3 would be available. I like watching it each week so I might not finish it on Prime.

message 6878: by Leea (new)

Leea My husband told me about it today. I think we'll stick with the weekly shows, it's so fun watching them.

Good to hear about Smokeless Fire. I've read a few other books by this author and I was interested in trying out that series.

Finished
Red (Transplanted Tales, #1) by Kate SeRine and I thought the author had a unique voice. I enjoyed her snark and crazy cast of deranged fairy tale characters. I didn't rate as high as my friends did (most of them gave it 5 stars) but I think I was sort of jaded because I was expecting UF and ended up getting something which read closer to suspense (and I'm not a huge fan of suspense).

However, I almost wonder if D.G., Regina and Wendy might find this book interesting. There's something about it that makes me curious to see how others would enjoy the book. I have book 2 as NG book, so I will probably read it soon.

I think the scenes aren't that descriptive in the beginning of their relationship, but get more steamy in the end. So, it's kind of in the middle, I guess.

Thanks Mary! I started it early this morning and I'm already liking it. I wasn't expecting it to be so brutal in the beginning.

message 6887: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh Leea! That is scary. My 7 year old is sick too. She has a stomch thing. :(

message 6888: by Leea (new)

Leea Haven't started yet Kay, hopefully when we get home from the doctor. Garrett is much better this morning, so I feel a little guilty for bringing him in but I'm so grateful we have the option to do so. We'll see what the dr says.

message 6889: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I just started and stopped 2 arcs -- got to 10% in each of them and didn't like them.

So I am now reading another ARC, I hope I have better luck this time! American Elsewhere by Robert Jackson Bennett and am reading for a real life book club The Fiddler in the Subway And Other Great Pieces You May Have Missed by Gene Weingarten and I am listening to Outpost (Razorland, #2) by Ann Aguirre

I've heard lots of good things about that book. Need to add it to the TBR!

message 6891: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I think I am going to start Fire Baptized (Habitat, #1) by Kenya Wright I have been wanting to read this for awhile.

message 6892: by Leea (new)

Let me cover my ass and say that I'm not sure if you'll like it. I'm more curious...I enjoyed the book but didn't love it like everyone else did, so I'm wondering if it's just my aversion to suspense.

Finished
Boundless (Unearthly, #3) by Cynthia Hand and it wasn't a bad wrap-up to the trilogy. Starting Sanctum (Guards of the Shadowlands, #1) by Sarah Fine and I might try to fit in a historical romance in there at some point if I have time, but I might not.

message 6895: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) As long as there is steam, Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold looks like something I would like.

I need to sign up for Lendle, I keep thinking of doing it.

So I am 10% into Fire Baptized (Habitat, #1) by Kenya Wright and I am really liking it. It is so good, very different.

message 6896: by Leea (last edited Jan 30, 2013 07:46AM) (new)

Leea There is some good steam in this book. I woke up at 5:30am so I could read more, i'm just loving it!

Kay, how far did you get.

message 6897: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Cool, good to know!

message 6898: by Leea (new)

Leea You know when you're in a reading fun or life just has too much going on and you find a book that takes you away for a bit, well I feel this way about Eyes of Silver, Eyes of Gold. There is a lot of hard moments in this book and prejudice against Cord because he's have Native American. Parts are brutal but I think it's an honest interpretation of that time period.

Leea--how does this compare to the MacKinnon books so far? Is it just as good?

message 6900: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read and LOVED Painted Faces by L.H. Cosway Although the title could have been better. So original, steamy and funny.
