I've been wanting to start this series. Glad to know that you enjoyed it.

Regina (reginar) I will be listening once I finish Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas

message 6653: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, you'll have to let me know how you like it when you start. It's interesting reading from the zombie's POV which I never have before.

how are you liking Dreaming of You? I really enjoyed that series.

message 6654: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Kay I am liking it alot. It feels slightly different than LK's more recently written historicals, but I like it. Dereck and Sara are very likeable.

Oh and answering your question above about Lily's daughter in Then Came You (view spoiler)

If there's a copy of it on Amazon or similar site, there's info out there and a librarian can add it for you to the database.

message 6656: by Leea (new)

Leea I really liked Warm Bodies, hope you ladies enjoy it.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Star Crossed (Battered Hearts, #2) by Kele Moon and ended up really liking it. The first half of the book was almost an exact mirror of the start of my relationship with my husband, so it was like taking a trip down memory lane. I like that the book reminded me of the 5th Street series. It's sort of weird that I didn't read book 1 (a lot of people didn't like the first book but loved the second), but I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

The creative non-sex scenes were smokin'.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh, and I started Finding Home by Lauren Baker and this one is crazy so far...

Looking forward to hearing what you think. I read this one last year sometime.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Warm Bodies (Warm Bodies #1) by Isaac Marion . I liked it but didn't love it like some of you.

I also just finished Bouquet Toss by Melissa Brown...I just wasted hours of my life! Not sure what to read next.

message 6661: by Leea (new)

Leea Are you going to see the movie, Warm Bodies or are you just not interested?

I'm about half way through, Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi and I like it but it's a slower book then the last few books i've read. I can see it's building and I'm enjoying both sides of Perry and Aria's worlds.

message 6662: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I will watch the movie but it might be a rental for me.

It took me a minute to get into Under the Never Sky too but once I did, I was hooked. Enjoy!

message 6663: by Leea (new)

Leea I just met Roar and now it's picked up for me, around the Half way mark.

message 6664: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Yep, I'm at 49%.

message 6665: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm going to use the text- to-speak feature on my drive to sacramento. This will be the first time but it's 45 min drive and I want to read or listen :)

I think I need therapy after reading this. It was good but it also drove me crazy. The first half I was all "I HATE THIS GIRL AND HOW SHE'S CHECKIN' HIM OUT." The second half was all "Okay...that's kind of hot."

But at least they went from engaging in eye-rolling behavior to becoming actual, functioning human beings.

So yeah. It was definitely an interesting read. Creepy, strange and uncomfortably sexy in parts, but interesting.

Amith Vikram | 4 comments I am currently reading Dante's The Divine Comedy. So far it's very interesting and enjoyable.

message 6669: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Shara, I have never read it - -only critiques of it. I look forward to your thoughts.

I just finished an amazing and hearbreaking book. It was for a challenge and for a real life book club. The book was written by a former Russian Jew who fled Russia after the revolution and lived in France her entire life, her husband as well. They had children and converted to catholicism. She was a well known European author. She was writing a book about the Nazi occupation while it was going on. But she never finished b/c she was sent to a concentration camp and died there shortly thereafter - leaving behind her two young daughters. There are two appendices to the book, one is her notes on where she wanted the book to go and another is the letters by her first asking friends to help and protect her (before she was taken away but there was a directive for her to report) and then letters from her husband begging friends to help find her and perhaps get her food and clothing in the camp. Then there are subsequent letters from people donating money to pay for the education of her daughters post-war. Just heartbreaking. And beautifully written. Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky

Due to real life crap (I feel like you are all so sick of it, so I won't post details but ugh, I just never can get a break. I want to be able to just read!) I am slow going on books but I am reading Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta The One I Left Behind by Jennifer McMahon and finishing up the audio of Dreaming of You by Lisa Kleypas

you summed it up well. Great review as well. I did feel like the book was all over the place too. But it was interesting enough since I haven't read other books with that kind of situation.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Does anyone have any recs for a historical romance novel that has some funny and witty writing similar to Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Olivia Parker or Sarah MacLean?

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Kay wrote: "Does anyone have any recs for a historical romance novel that has some funny and witty writing similar to Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Olivia Parker or Sarah MacLean?"

I really like 9 Rules to Break when Romancing a Rake by Sarah McLean and A Week to Be Wicked by Tessa Dare. They're a couple of my go-to books for exactly that.

message 6673: by Ridh (new)

Ridh (jaan123) | 19 comments I have to second Tellulah. If anyone were to ask me for an author who could match LK or JQ's wit and humor, it would be Tessa Dare. Her name's the first that comes to mind. :)

message 6674: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I still need to read all of those authors! So much to read. ;)

Kay I feel like I follow you around and read the romance books that you do. ;)

Suzanne Enoch's Lessons in Love series is a favorite of mine.

The Rake (Lessons in Love, #1) by Suzanne Enoch London's Perfect Scoundrel (Lessons in Love, #2) by Suzanne Enoch England's Perfect Hero (Lessons in Love, #3) by Suzanne Enoch

message 6676: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I may be in the minority and I should say I have really liked the book up until now but I feel like the story should be over -- why is it still going? And I still have 1.5 hours to listen to?! Dreaming of You (Gamblers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

I need to read some Enoch. Angie, are the sex scenes fade to black or more like Kleypas's - more explicit?

They are more like LK's. And SE's books have a lot of humor, too.

message 6678: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh fun. I am moving those up. ;) Thank you. Which should I start with -- I have a ton to choose from. :)

Either the Lessons in Love trilogy:

The Rake London's Perfect Scoundrel England's Perfect Hero

or the Griffin Family:

Sin and Sensibility An Invitation to Sin Something Sinful Sins of a Duke

Regina...well, we do tend to like the same books. I follow you around as well especially with UF.

Angie, I have that series on my list by Enoch. I may get to it real soon.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 231 comments it's really good Regina. i had been listening to audio books and just found out a couple days ago it was on audio and was overjoyed. i love the narrator. his voice for Charles is great! plus i'm loving how Anna is becoming more possessive of Charles now. too cute!

message 6687: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've just finished Defending Jacob by William Landay by William Landay. Defending Jacob is a well-written, disturbing and gripping crime thriller with plenty of twists and turns throughout the novel to keep you interested. I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the very beginning to the end. The reader is kept guessing as to whether Jacob is innocent or guilty until the very end of the novel. Throughout the trial I kept changing my mind about whether Jacob was guilty or not. I thought this was a excellent read so I’m giving it a well-deserved five stars!

I'm looking forward to reading this one. I think they have the first in this series available at Netgalley, too, Stacia.

message 6690: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm reading Flashpoint (Troubleshooters, #7) by Suzanne Brockmann and loving Nash and Tess... also Sophia and Deck... I know these are new characters but Brockmanns writing has improved and she just starts right off - LOVE IT!

message 6691: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh yeah! Is Wendy too? That is one if my favorites. It was actually the first in the series that I read.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Angie, I had a few friends who didn't like the first book, but loved the second. That's why I skipped ahead. I didn't feel like I'd missed anything.

message 6693: by Leea (new)

Leea Yes, we're reading it together. I can only speak for myself but i'm loving our buddy reads, this is like the 5th book in a row. lol! We're texting the whole time and it's awesome!

message 6695: by Gwennie (new)

message 6696: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished A Week to Be Wicked (Spindle Cove, #2) by Tessa Dare which I really liked. Now, I'm reading She Tempts the Duke (The Lost Lords of Pembrook, #1) by Lorraine Heath . I'm just a sucker for a tortured hero.

Oh...and Yay 9ers!

message 6697: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) Yea, I am enjoying them so far, been doing one a month. At first I wasn't the biggest fan of the heroes, but as I go on, they've grown on me :)

message 6698: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh my goodness, Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta is so amazing. Marchetta has written her best books with Froi and Quintana (in my opinion). I don't want Quintana to end.

message 6699: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I loved it so much! (Jellicoe Road is still my favorite MM, but Froi and Quintana are up there.)

message 6700: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I love the interaction between Froi and Finnikin.
