Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks gals!! I hope you all have a Happy Holiday!

I finished Stormfire by Christine Monson a few days ago. It really is turbulent and crazy. I can't wait to hear what Leea thinks when she is done.

I started A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare yesterday. It's light and ok so far.

Leea How cute, Stacia!! Right back at you buddy!

Merry Christmas everyone who celebrates. I hope it's a day filled with family, joy and the magic of the season.

If you could let me know how Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene Frost is, that would be great! I've purchased that one, but I've not read it yet.

message 6361: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Merry Christmas everyone! And happy eating. :)

My 7 year old just discovered audio books -- I had some ready loaded on her new ipod for christmas and she listened on the way to grandma's today (2 hour drive). She is enamored!

Enjoy Mind Games.

Took me longer than usual to finish because of my bday, my anniversary and Christmas all at once so been super busy. But finally finished it today. Really good book. I liked the heroine a lot. And their were a lot of twists in the book which I normally don't like because I get confused easily if there are too many characters introduced at once. But this book was the exception since it was still easy to follow. I plan on giving this book 3 stars. That is only because I thought the author should have spent a little more on the secondary story between the H's brother and his betrothed. You will see what I mean when you read it. I look forward to continuing the series.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I am trying a new to me author, Beverley Kendall. Sinful Surrender (The Elusive Lords, #1) by Beverley Kendall

This book also happens to fall into the 'brother's hot older friend' category that I love so much!

Oh great idea. What are you letting her listen to? My oldest whos also 7 might like that. Although he super sensitive to violance.

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

message 6366: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea, the Magic Tree house books. :) My library has them both on CD and on overdrive.

message 6367: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, great idea! We have such a small library selections but I hope they might have them on overdrive. Thanks, i'll check.

Finally finished Stormfire and I just feel dirty now. haha! Not sure what to read next, I need to finish and arc but I also want to pack up all the holiday stuff, clean the house and put it all back together.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare and it was ok.

I just bought this book. I checked the reviews, and everyone on my friends list who has read it rated it five stars. Peer pressure without the peer pressure. LOL

message 6370: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Hi everybody! I hope those that celebrate Christmas had a happy one! As usual, my family had a big party on Christmas Eve and we got home at 4:30am. I was so tired on Christmas!

Anyhow, here's an article about ebook prices that my husband thought might interest you guys: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/24/tec...

message 6371: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh books wise, I'm almost done listening to Dracula. What a great audiobook production!

I'm also reading Devil's Luck (The Disillusionists, #3.5) by Carolyn Crane , the last novella in the Dissilutionists trilogy.

I grew up not far from there, Kay. I know that in my review I commented on it. When my dad lived in Auburn we would pass that exit all the time.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I think I'd commented that I'd seen the movie and had started the book before Christmas Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor (Friday Harbor, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

The book was worse than the movie. I honestly didn't think there'd ever come a day when I gave a Kleypas book 1 star, but it was bad.

Started One Good Earl Deserves a Lover (The Rules of Scoundrels, #2) by Sarah MacLean and it's been cute so far.

I didn't finish watching the movie but it's saved on my dvr to finish later. I definitely agree that the book isn't her best. The series has been ok for me. I just haven't warmed up to it like some others.

message 6381: by Regina (last edited Dec 27, 2012 04:54AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) The first book is pretty bad. 2 and 3 are better but as I said before not Kleypas good.

D.G. I finished Devil's Luck (The Disillusionists, #3.5) by Carolyn Crane and I have to say it was weird! That end was horrible!

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I bought Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley and Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley today. Mostly due to the quotes I have seen listed. They look really good!

message 6385: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished The Good Father by Diane Chamberlain by Diane Chamberlain yesterday morning. The Good Father is a gripping, touching and thought-provoking read. The three main characters are Travis, Robin and Erin and each of the chapters in the novel is narrated by one of these characters. Some of the chapters do jump from the present to the past but I thought the story was still easy to follow. Some parts of the story were very unrealistic and far-fetched and the ending of the novel was a bit of a letdown as I thought it was very predictable. It really seemed like the author had rushed out an ending just to make a deadline. I gave this one 3 stars.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I'm about to start Monday Mornings by Sanjay Gupta by Sanjay Gupta. I heard this novel is going to be turned into a TV series similar to ER. It sounded like a TV show I'm be interested in watching so I decided to read the book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished One Good Earl Deserves a Lover (The Rules of Scoundrels, #2) by Sarah MacLean and it was pretty darn cute for a HR. I loved that the female lead was a nerdy science girl in glasses.

Starting Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi because I realized that I have book 2 and it comes out in a little over a week.

That was my favorite in the series. It kept me up late, too! :)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I just finished Sinful Surrender (The Elusive Lords, #1) by Beverley Kendall , and it was a lukewarm read for me. I can't help but wonder if it's my fault for trying a new author after reading three Julia Quinn's in a row.

Now I need a 'blow me out of the water' read. Preferably contemp. I'm off book hunting...

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I went for another historical! A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean

message 6392: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm still slowly reading What Happens in Scotland by Jennifer McQuiston and it's funny and good. I just have so much going on around the house. We're doing a whole house clean, reorganize and get rid of stuff. It's a ton of work but feels good to get ride of this extra stuff.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I love that feeling that I get after donating/throwing a bunch of stuff out. Clutter & having too much random "stuff" bugs me.

message 6394: by Leea (new)

Leea It feels so good!! My house wasn't really cluttered before but we still had some unneeded items around the house. I'm just glad my husband was okay with doing this on his vacation. He hasn't complained and i'm so grateful for that.

I'm also trying to on a small budget redecorate the house. It's so hard to fine what you want.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Got back from Reno last night. My kids had a lot of fun and we stopped by for some snow play when we were heading back through the pass.

I finished reading Baby It's Cold Outside (Alaskan Nights, #1) by Addison Fox and Not Quite Dating by Catherine Bybee which were okay.

I'm off to search for something to read.

I enjoyed Gone Girl. Those characters had me all twisted inside while I was listening to it on audio. Enjoy!

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I decided to pick up the Psy-Changling series with Bonds of Justice (Psy-Changeling, #8) by Nalini Singh . I forgot how much I enjoy this world.

message 6399: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) I started Like No Other Lover (Pennyroyal Green, #2) by Julie Anne Long but after only 41 pages I needed a break. I did not like the heroine at all. This is the first time I had to stop a book because I did not like the attitude of one of the main characters. So I picked up How to Abduct a Highland Lord (MacLean Curse, #1) by Karen Hawkins and started that instead. So far I am enjoying it. Way better than the other book. I will finish Like No Other Lover after I am done with the Karen Hawkins book.

I loved Like No Other Lover, I agree though at the start it was not promising but because of where the characters started the end of satisfying, there is character growth so if you're in the mood to try again I think it's worth it.
