Lori (lorimcd) How did you get the ARC for "Highlander Most Wanted"? Please don't tell me anything about it if I can't get my own copy... Bad enough I have to wait until March.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It took me a while to get into the book but I think that was because my mood wasn't there for HR. Now that I'm past the halfway point, I'm really enjoying it. I might be gearing up to read at least a few HR's in the near future.

I'm back on a UF/PNR kick at the moment, and a lot of YA. After reading too many contemp romances which were awful, I made like a turtle and went back inside my comfort zone.

Starting Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione tonight.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I got approved through Edelweiss for Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #2) by Maya Banks ....which surprises me b/c Netgalley always denies me! So, my first request through Edelweiss and I get approved.

I'm currently reading it now and it is really good! I'll probably be done tonight.

message 6204: by Leea (new)

Leea I've always wanted to read that, Stacia. It's one of those books thats been on TBR list forever. You'll have to tell me how it is. Crap, I'd totally crash your read and jump in and read it with you but I'm over committed as it is. Ugh!

Lisa, A few of us got it on Netgalley.com

I hope you like Pleasure Unbound! I loved it when I was in my PNR phase. I couldn't get into the author's new series though...but I love Demonica and the sex demons. They are damn hot!

D.G. Kay wrote: "I hope you like Pleasure Unbound! I loved it when I was in my PNR phase. I couldn't get into the author's new series though...but I love Demonica and the sex demons. They are damn hot! "

The same with me, Kay. I loved the Demonica series (although the books got less interesting for me as the series moved along) and couldn't get into the new series. I guess you can't win them all!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Good to hear! I also heard there's magical sperm happening?

message 6208: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments DG...for me that is just how I feel about PNR. Some I can really connect with, others just feel cheesy. But Demonica and Immortals After Dark really do it for me! =)

Stacia...yes! The sperm is super orgasmically (is this even a word. LOL) magical!

message 6209: by D.G. (new)

D.G. LOL, yes there is super smexy sperm. But they are sex demons so it makes sense, LOL!

message 6210: by Krissy (new)

Krissy (krissystewart) I am about halfway done with Guarding a Notorious Lady (Devine & Friends, #3) by Olivia Parker Hopefully I will finish it tonight.

message 6211: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) NG and edelweis can be random. I have been denied before and then emailed the author or publisher and gotten the book. I have been denied and subsequently approved. So weird.

Wendy about Quintana ... You all know I like my men strong but not possessive but there is something very very sexy about a jealous Finnikin. Even if jt is unreasonable. I can't wait to read more tonight! It is 9:42 and I am only now on a train to to home. :(

I am replying via the app so I so I can't see what books you all are reading.

This is such a fun and humorous series. I hope the author will write more.

message 6213: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Regina, I'm sorry you're just now going home :(

message 6214: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Thanks kay. :) okay I've been at work too long (no longer on the app on the Internet) but that cover is yummy.

message 6215: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Yeah, I don't like using the app on my phone either or the mobile web. I find the desktop version so much easier to use on my phone. Hopefully, they will improve their app someday.

Yes, the cover is yummy.

Are you guilty of buying books based solely on the covers sometimes? I know I am! LOL

message 6217: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I definitely look at a cover first before reading its synopsis. But I'm not a full on cover snob bc I'll still give horrible covers a chance if the reviews are good.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Kay wrote: "I definitely look at a cover first before reading its synopsis. But I'm not a full on cover snob bc I'll still give horrible covers a chance if the reviews are good."

Oh, yes. What I meant is that I've flipped and gone the other way...bought a book that might not have had a plot that interested me because of the hottie on the cover! LOL

message 6219: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Hahah....I think I did that with The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton ...love the cover but the story was just ok.

message 6220: by Petula (new)

Petula (petulawinmill) | 24 comments I have just finished. A Warrior for Christmas by Beth Trissel. But I can't find it on here to leave a review.
It was a good sweet romance. The hero has been "rescued" from captivity and is struggling to restrain his warriors instincts when someone is setting their sights on the lady he wants. She is worried her chances of marriage are limited because she is deaf. A good christmas story

message 6221: by Heather (new)

Heather Bailey | 5 comments Just finished "On the Island" by Tracy Garvis Graves. It was a good book, but very basic writing that would have been better if she was more descriptive and came up with more unique experiences for the two main characters. I was surprised I couldn't find one bad review on this book. It makes me wonder if my standards are set too high for a five star book.

message 6222: by Petula (new)

Petula (petulawinmill) | 24 comments I must admit I would rather not comment at all if I don't like a book. I think it dates back to my mum always saying. If you can't say something nice say nothing at all.

message 6223: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #2) by Maya Banks and loved it. Book 3 seems so far away.

We can't all like the same books and all of our standards are different. I'm more of an emotional rater. Some books with earth shattering writing may not do it for me if I feel nothing for the characters. I connected with the characters and story in On the Island so I rated it really high.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) So true Kay. I actually really liked On The Island because I'd been wanting to read an interesting 'stranded on an island' book and the couple with the theme that I'd tried before were awful so it made this book stand out for me...but I completely understand what it's like to dislike a book that everyone else seems to love. In fact, it seems to happen more often than not for me. There's one book out right now that so many of my friends have rated 5 stars and I gave it a huge, resounding 1 star because I thought it sucked big time.

Almost halfway into Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione and I'm really enjoying it. I've missed my cheesy pnr...this one's got some great humor too.

Also still working on Infinite Days (Vampire Queen, #1) by Rebecca Maizel and about to start The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien before we see the movie this weekend.

message 6226: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia, I'm glad you're enjoying Pleasure Unbound. I love the snarkiness in those books. Let us know what you think about the semen. LOL

I'm still searching for my next read...I'm hoping to find a fun "secret baby" themed book. Regina suggested a Virgin River book but I'm not caught up on VR yet and I don't want to skip ahead.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The semen is kind of awesome, heh.

Forgot to mention that I finally finished A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean and ended up enjoying it once I got used to the author's style.

message 6228: by Leea (new)

Leea I hate when I don't get Notifications for this thread and I forget to check it. Ugh!

I'm so glad your enjoying Pleasure Unbound, lol! I remember hearing about that orgasmic sperm. Gotta love PNR!!

I've half way through Heaven and Hell (Heaven and Hell, #1) by Kristen Ashley , heavy subject matter but it's good.

message 6229: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella by Sophie Kinsella yesterday. The first half of the book was quite good but I got a bit bored with it during the second half. The book was well-written and it had a lot of extremely funny scenes in it. However, the plot was very predictable. I made a guess when I was at 5% of the way in about how this book would end and I figured it out exactly! The author is not very good at adding "twists and turns" into her plots, which is the main reason I haven't picked up a book by this author for ten years. I thought the author would have learned something in all that time but apparently not!
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I'm a few chapters into The Stupidest Angel A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror by Christopher Moore by Christopher Moore.

message 6230: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I have never read any Sophie Kinsella and always wondered about her or that genre.

It seems we are all kinda fascinated with the idea of orgasmic sperm. LOL. On that note, I am enjoying Sex at Dawn The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality by Christopher Ryan

I am doing a re-read of Hobbit (but have been for about 4 months) as I am reading it to my 9 year old and we rarely have time to sit down and read. The movie is only the first half of the book though (I think ... as there are 2 movies, right?), so you don't have to finish it all before you go see it. :)

message 6232: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh, how fun Regina. I cannot wait to read Harry potter and Lord of the Rings with Ethan and Garrett.

My book worm, Ethan walking home from school... (view spoiler)

I mean, he would not stop reading and almost stepped out in front of a car... He then decide to read instead of watching TV with his brother.

Heather Bailey | 5 comments I totally understand that everyone has their own opinions and ideas of what makes a good book. I wasn't trying to offend anyone, I was just giving my opinion... I thought that's what this site was for.. I sincerely apologize. To each their own.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) No offense taken. I was agreeing with you and I think Kay was too. :) We've all been in that same place where we don't like something that's popular, so we understand.

Your opinion is welcome. I go on all the time about books I don't like.

Finished Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione and was surprised by how much I liked it. I was having warm BDB type fuzzies. It was that cheesy, sexy, type of fun.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia, I'm glad you enjoyed Pleasure Unbound. Will you continue with the series? I think Wraith's book was really fun for me.

I found a secret baby book to read... Almost Perfect (Fool’s Gold #2) by Susan Mallery .

Jen (at last!) (jenkeith) I just finished A Kingdom of Dreams (Westmoreland, #1) by Judith McNaught for my Outlander Challenge. I think I'm going to read Onyx (Lux, #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout now.

Leea Crud, the outlander challenge. I still need to see if any of the books I've read fill the 4 spots I have empty.

Judith mcNaught is great! How did you like her writing?

message 6240: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am mixing in Shoulda Been a Cowboy (Rough Riders, #7) by Lorelei James for a challenge.

message 6241: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (caitlynj) I have nearly finished The Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons , I have been reading it slowly because I like it so much and don't want to end and also cause I've cried so frequently throughout it so far.
I finished When He Was Bad (Magnus Pack, #3.5) by Shelly Laurenston two short stories, with shifters, sexy times and snark. Love it.

message 6242: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm dying to hear what you thought of the Bronze Horseman?

Which reminds me... WENDY YOU NEED TO READ IT! Ha!
