Ooh, that one's on my list. How did you like it?"

Actually for me it was my favorite of the Cynster series so far. I've been reading one a month with some friends. Something about Chillingworth, he didn't annoy me as bad as the other men have so far lol. I gave it 3.5 Stars, it was a pretty good read. :)

I think you're right. Her website says it's a trilogy :("

I don't think Defiant is the last book. I remember Clare saying Joseph and Wentworth were getting a book.

Courtney | 337 comments Stacia - I feel the same - struggling that is. I think I need to read another book :/

message 6104: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I think I'll put Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan back on the shelf and read Seduce the Darkness (Alien Huntress, #4) by Gena Showalter . Here's to hoping it gets better.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I feel like I keep putting books back. The one I finished last night was a complete and semi-ranty 1 star for me and I only finished it because it was a buddy read that had been planned for a while.

message 6106: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I feel like that, too. I have so many books on my currently-reading shelf but after these last 3 books which I gave 2 stars to, I think I need to find something that can get me back on track.

Thanks, Stacia. I will have to get to the Lux but will pass on the Covenant series. I remember your review about how similar it is to VA.

Mythos looks like something I will like too. I really liked this author's adult UF series, Elemental Assassin.

No. I don't know those ones. I've read some of her other stuff though.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kay, that looks like an interesting erotic short. A wolf tattoo parlor? Awesome.

message 6116: by Regina (last edited Dec 07, 2012 02:09PM) (new)

Regina (reginar) Remember start with #4 Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning and NOT with 1, 2 or 3.

message 6117: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments Regina wrote: "Remember start with #4 Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning and NOT with 1, 2 or 3."

And then go back and read 1 2 & 3 or skip them altogether?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I would say only go back and read them if you absolutely feel like you can't get enough. The first few books (especially 1 & 2) feel very classic 'bodice-ripper' in an almost cheesy way.

message 6119: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) What stacia said. The story arc begins with 4. And I have witnessed numerous readers start with 1 and give up after 2 or 3. Moning hit her stride at 5. But 4 is a good place to start.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Stacia (the hype killer) wrote: "Kay, that looks like an interesting erotic short. A wolf tattoo parlor? Awesome."

This was a fun smutty book. Just the right amount of steam and the right amount of story. The wolf's tattoo parlor wasn't touched on too much but I have a feeling future books will revolve around this location.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Has anyone heard any good things about The Farm (The Farm, #1) by Emily McKay or Reign of Blood (Reign of Blood, #1) by Alexia Purdy ?

I'm in a paranormal-ish mood.

message 6122: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments These books are so emotional. Defiant (MacKinnon's Rangers, #3) by Pamela Clare has me in tears. (view spoiler)

This is a ten-hanky read for sure.

message 6123: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments You guys are probably sick of me talking about Pamela Clare, but I don't care. LOL

I am almost done Defiant, and I just don't want the series to end. It's so heart-breakingly perfect. All I can think is that, as cheesy as it sounds, I wish this book would have been called 'Tell Sarah I Love Her.'

P.S. It's your fault. You guys made me this way. Let this be a lesson to you--never recommend books to me. I do have a habit of going on and on and on and on...

message 6124: by Angie Elle (last edited Dec 07, 2012 08:27PM) (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I just finished Defiant (MacKinnon's Rangers, #3) by Pamela Clare . Wow. When I turned the page and realized it was the last one, I swore at my poor, defenseless Kindle.

(view spoiler)

Fantastic ending to the series. It ended up being my favorite, but I reserve the right to change my mind if she decides to write Joseph's book. LOL

I'll try not to commandeer any more threads with my book obsessions.

Next up is A Lot Like Love (FBI / US Attorney, #2) by Julie James .

I am off to finally get some sleep. These books were emotional reads, and the sleep deprivation they've caused hasn't helped. :)

Regina (reginar) Hey angie that is what this thread is for!! Please discuss any and all obsessions.

message 6127: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Defiant was absolutely amazing. I cannot believe that I waited so long to read it. I hope she writes more historical fiction. I know it requires a lot of research and work as she writes historical romance with substance.

message 6128: by Leea (new)

Leea Angie, I wont get much reading done today... I have family coming but I hope to read a lot tomorrow :)

Please share all your obsessions, I could talk about the MacKinnon Rangers any day :) I personally cannot wait for Josephs book. He's such an honorable man and he's been such a great brother the the MacKinnon's that I can't wait to see him happy too.

I'll admit that there are times in my life where living on a farm/land with my BIL's and SIL's sounds fantastic! Us sharing life, duties and not having to worry about anyone else. haha!

Neither will I. :( Our system crashed at work this week, and as I work in an accounting department and we are doing our November end of month, I am working today.

I would like to read Joseph's book, too, because I think he had feelings for Sarah. I can see him in torment for lusting after Connor's wife, and I do love my angst!

I agree--sometimes I think it would be nice to live on a farm and work for what you need, letting all the frivolties go. Except for books!

message 6131: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Angie, I love that theme too. I think it is why to this day I still love Laura Ingalls' books, I love the Highlander theme books over say the regency era time historical romance books and why I love post-apocalyptic books -- I like the idea of survival in a way that I don't experience. I come form a very rural small town and we lived in the country but were not farmers. I totally see the pull of doing something like that. I'd love to start an organic farm and free range type animal farm and sell the meat locally, but I am confident it is a lot of hard work and a lot of potential for failure, plus even though I love the ideal of the farm life and the space of the rural area -- I don't want to give up the benefits of living in an urban area! LOL.

message 6132: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, my husband always jokes about when we first moved from California to San Antonio, how my BIL who was with us started freaking out because we couldn't find a starbucks. They're not on every corner when we lived there and didn't have any drive thru's. haha!

A friend shared with me this website, you make personalized messages from santa. I love it because it shares the magic of this holiday is a great way for kids. I know mine were grinning and felt so special that Santa knew their names. Here is the site:

Regina, I'd never thought about the connection between those seemingly disparate books but you just expressed it so wonderfully. I, too, still love Laura Ingalls and post-apocalyptic and when I was a kid, books where kids had to survive in some way. I used to build houses and pretend I was trapped in the middle of nowhere in storms.

Jessica (jesicca) | 5 comments I'm reading Wallbanger by Alice Clayton and it's hilarious! I love it so far!

message 6135: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh man! I need to read Wallbanger.

I need to get my hands on that Pamela Clare HR series but I started her other one and haven't finished it yet.

I finished Lessons in French by Laura Kinsale which was sort of a comedy of manners. Lots of witty dialogue and silliness. The heroine drove me a bit nuts but it was an enjoyable read.

Now I'm back to Tangled Web (Dezian Empire, #1) by Crista McHugh . I'm really enjoying the role reversal here: the hero is naive while the heroine is kickass!

Thanks Tellulah. I did that too! I love the planning an imagining aspect. I think I thought about the connection first time last year when I was reading

Little House in the Big Woods (Little House, #1) by Laura Ingalls Wilder to my kids at the same as I was reading several post apoc books myself. And I realized that is why I also love the Virgin River series by Carr, it has the same aspects. I also love stories and movies about rebuilding one's life by moving somewhere else. The first movie I remember loving with this theme is Murphy's Romance (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089643/) it is that one with Sally Field (it is old) and James Garner. It is kind of like a tamer movie version of Virgin River and Rough Riders, lol.

DG the cover of Tangled Web is beautiful.

message 6138: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading a ton of books this week, all on audio. I have my book club this week and we are reading Blueprints for Building Better Girls Fiction by Elissa Schappell then for a challenge (Words with Friends) I am reading Sex at Dawn The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality by Christopher Ryan and I am finishing off How to Save a Life by Sara Zarr -- all on audio!

Then I am reading Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher

message 6139: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Regina wrote: "DG the cover of Tangled Web is beautiful. "

And the book turned out to be REALLY good with a unique world and different elements (he was the power, she was the muscle). I'll be reviewing it for the blog on Thursday.

message 6140: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Those are a lot of books you're reading, Regina! Are you listening to 'Finding the Lost'? I'm tempted by that series.

message 6141: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am reading it. I like a lot about the series. I think so far Burning Alive (Sentinel Wars, #1) by Shannon K. Butcher Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher are both 3 to 3.5 stars. Surprisingly the sex scenes are not that hot although explicit. And I think some parts drag however I really like the world, the problem that needs to be worked out in each book and the mythology. So I will keep reading.

message 6142: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh I have the first book in my shelves to get from the library. I'll have to move it up!

message 6145: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I've finished reading The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan by Charlotte Rogan yesterday. The Lifeboat is the debut novel of author Charlotte Rogan. It is a compelling, gripping and extremely thought-provoking tale. This novel tells the story of survival at its most basic level. It explores human nature and morality. It shows what happens to people while they are fighting to stay alive. The novel is a psychological thriller really. The book is very well-written. I really loved the author's writing style. I was completely engrossed in this novel from the very first page. The way in which Charlotte Rogan describes the moral decisions the characters have to make is quiet chilling.
My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Now I'm halfway through I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella by Sophie Kinsella.
