Have you read Surrender, Untamed, ans Defiant? I love what I've read so far.

I can be ready to read the 3rd Julie James on Monday if that works for everyone else.

message 6054: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I have not read them Angie. I take it you would highly reccommend them? Ha ha! Monday works for me. I will check with the other girls on the other thread and let you know for sure.

message 6055: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I barely made a dent in Untamed (MacKinnon's Rangers, #2) by Pamela Clare . I'm only at 23%. My baby got sick today so I've been cleaning up vomit all night. I'll be staying home tomorrow with him so I'm sure I can get in more reading time.

message 6058: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm sorry the babe is sick... you poor thing. I do hope you get extra reading and snuggle time tomorrow :)

I finished The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and it was amazing. I found myself lost at times but that was just part of the magic.

Now i'm back to Double Cross (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #2) by Carolyn Crane and I'm totally a Packard girl :) I just don't trust Otto... Please tell me we know more about them at the end of this book?

message 6059: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Thanks, ladies.

Yes, Leea...you will know more. Just keep reading!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sorry to hear Kay. I think more people have said today and yesterday that they are sick or their kids are sick than I've ever seen in one short period of time. Hope you get relief for the little one soon.

Finished
Consequences (Consequences, #1) by Aleatha Romig and was not a fan. Starting Opal (Lux, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

thanks, Stacia. I guess something is going around :(

So, do you like the Lux series? Is it worth it to read? It seems like a lot of people seem to really like it. Is there a series you would compare it to?

Hmm...Lux... I think it's a fun series and very easy to get into right away, which is always nice. Daemon is probably somewhere on my top list for sexy male leads. If we're comparing to another series, the first book reminds me distantly of a version of twilight (without the annoying pining and stalking), except the male is an alien with a tortured past, instead of a vampire with a tortured past. And his cockiness is not so much overbearing alpha, but more like the playful kind of cockiness...similar to Jace from MI if you've read that.

Insurgent was good. Lots of violence for YA, tho. But great characters.

message 6074: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments These Pamela Clare books are so good! In the end, I think I like Surrender better overall, but Morgan better out of the two brothers.

I am so excited to read hot-headed Connors! Especially after the last line of the prologue.

Yes, I thought Divergent was pretty violent, too. I'm sure Insurgent is even more so!

I just finished Untamed. wow! Another masterpiece by Clare. I don't think I've ever read an HR like her's before. I won't be picking up the next book just yet. Reading her books gives me anxiety. LOL I have to calm down a little.

message 6077: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) haha! Very true. There is a ton of action. I really like her HR compared with her RS.

How is your son?

I am really liking Finding the Lost (Sentinel Wars, #2) by Shannon K. Butcher

He's better now. Thanks for asking. I'll probably drop him off at the sitter's tomorrow. So, back to work for me :(

Have you read Clare's other HR series?

message 6082: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Oh -- sorry your time at home is up. :( But glad he is on the mend and you can sleep tonight.

No, I haven't -- I plan to! But I haven't. I heard it isn't as good as the Ranger series, she wrote it first but I do plan to give it a whirl.

Oh, I could be wrong -- I really want a book about the native american "brother" of the heroes (eek I forgot his name).

Her books are an emotional roller coaster, aren't they? I just hate to interrupt a series if I don't have to. She really is an amazing writer.

message 6084: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) The research is done so well too but it isn't overly detailed. I love that she writes about something I don't know much about.

What genre are you reading, Courtney?

message 6093: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments I've been reading a lot of fantasy and they've all been disappointing. Right now I'm reading Shadow Game (GhostWalkers, #1) by Christine Feehan which is contemporary/fantasy suspense and he's already lusting after her in the first 15 pages.

I know erotica will have that a lot but at least I expect that. So either erotica or a really good urban fantasy, I think. I have a shelf full of Historical Romance but I'm avoiding it because they tend to be so similar.

I hate it when I'm disappointed too. It seems like I read a handful of ok books before I actually read a good one.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Kay wrote: "Thanks! I will have to get to it eventually. I'm just hoping one day I will find a series like Vampire Academy and Dmitri! ..."

I think it's funny you said this because the author of the Lux series is the author of the series that is almost dead on identical to VA (and the lead is a complete clone of Dimitri). But you've already seen me wrestle with my feelings about how it feels dirty to read such an obvious copy.

However, the Lux series is a lot of fun and the author's style of writing is very relatable.

The only other series I've read which has a male who gives me similar feelings to Dimitri (he's not the same character type but he's a protective warrior) is the one I'm working on now, the Mythos Academy series.

Anyway, back to reading. After being so frustrated with Consequences and struggling through both the Historical Romance and the Contemporary Romance I'm on, I'm hoping the alien book will put me back in a better reading mood.
