Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) I didn't know there were more Fever books to come. Thanks, Stacia!

And Leea, I'd say don't bother. Everything relevant is rehashed. Also, and forgive me if I'm saying this in a weird way, I'm glad I didn't roll the emotional high I get off Fever right into ICED. Yes, it's a spin off but I think a little separation was a good thing. :)

Can't wait to chat details of it with everyone!

Megan, you've been going through the Lucky Harbor books, you must like them.

I'll have to check out the swoon-worthy cowboys ;)

Thanks, i'm going to read Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan because I just can't stop thinking about this book. I hear it's hard to take but I want to see what all the buzz is about. Plus it's short and I don't have time for a long book ATM.

Yeah, I really like them. Have read 1,2,3, and 6. Have to go back and read 4 and 5. The library is just to slow to meet my books needs, lol, so I had to skip ahead.

Krissy (krissystewart) Almost finished reading The Duke Is Mine (Fairy Tales, #3) by Eloisa James

Take care, Regina. Hope you feel better soon! :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Has anyone heard from D. G.? Did the weather issues cause her problems?

Krishawn, is she a good author? I haven't tried her yet.

message 5458: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am at home but working. And in a lot of pain! Thanks for the well wishes. My husband drove me downtown to my office to get my computer and now I am at home working. I won't be able to go trick or treating tonight. :(

I finished Mr. Real (Code of Shadows, #1) by Carolyn Crane and it is unlike anything I have every ever read. Great characters -- really well developed. And even though it is pnrish (romance, splash of fantasy, in a modern/urban setting - or midwest small town setting) I never got bored or skimmed. Which is very unusual for me. It is just a fun fun book.

message 5459: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So for costumes, we have a 1980s diva (my 13 year old daughter), a zombie (my 9 year old son), Dorothy (my 7 year old daughter) and Toto (my 4 year old daughter).

I chatted with DG and she seems to have ridden it out okay. She never lost power or internet!

D.G. Stacia (Ace of Skates) wrote: "Has anyone heard from D. G.? Did the weather issues cause her problems?"

We're fine, Stacia. Thanks for asking! Luckily we didn't lose power or the internet connection.

I've been trying to work from home but there's no power in the office so there's not much I've been able to do.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Good to hear! I know that you're based out of NYC, so I was a little worried.

message 5462: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I'm glad you're safe, DG.

I will be starting Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning tonight. I can't wait!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'll probably be starting it tonight as well. My start was a false start, since I realized that we're going to be gone for the second half of the day and I didn't want to start it, only to have to put it down.

So I started The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) by Jessica Sorensen since it's really short and I needed to get to it this week anyway.

D.G. Stacia (Ace of Skates) wrote: "Good to hear! I know that you're based out of NYC, so I was a little worried."

Awww, thanks! It's been terrible for some people in here. That big fire was just a few miles from where we live so we heard the sirens the whole night.

message 5465: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I wanted to start Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning in audio but so far is not on Audible (who knows if they are having issues because their offices are in Newark, NJ.)

I'm thinking of just continuing the Kate Daniels series. I read it for the first time last week and listened to the first 3 books back to back to back!

message 5466: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) 4 is really really good. :)

I also wondered if it is a delayed release since the ebook is more expensive than an audible credit.

That makes sense.

I think I'll just start the Kate Daniels and the hell with everything else! I need to start joining challenges and just read what I want. :)

message 5469: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) Earlier I finished reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley by Mary Shelley. This novel turned out to be nothing like what I was expecting. I was expecting a generic horror story about a monster but what I got was so much more complex, it's actually quite a philosophical story really. I was extremely surprised and impressed by the actual story itself. I really enjoyed this book and I'm happy I finally got around to reading this classic. My full review is here.

I'm planning to read Eleven on Top (Stephanie Plum, #11) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich next.

Yes! I love her! If you want to give her a shot then I would recommend you start with her Essex Sisters series. First book in that series is Much Ado About You (Essex Sisters, #1) by Eloisa James Or try the Desperate Duchesses series which begins with Desperate Duchesses (Desperate Duchesses, #1) by Eloisa James

message 5471: by Leea (new)

Leea D.G. Enjoy the Kate Daniels series, it's so good.

message 5472: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Oct 31, 2012 11:49PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Good to know Krishawna (sorry I left the a off your name last time!). I'd had Desperate Duchesses recommended to me before, so I might have to consider it.

Didn't have time to really dig into Iced today, so I finished up a much shorter book - The Secret of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #1) by Jessica Sorensen and it was a sweet and sexy little new adult/college book - decent steam content for the age range, not over the top but still good sexual tension. The drama was manageable and there were only a few cliche moments, so overall, I was liking it.

message 5475: by Kay (new)

message 5476: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Read a bunch of historicals recently, the best of which were Kiss Me, Annabel (Essex Sisters, #2) by Eloisa James and A Rogue by Any Other Name (The Rules of Scoundrels, #1) by Sarah MacLean

I'm still waiting for a historical to really excite me. I feel like it's been a while since that has happened. These were pretty good but not on par with some of their others.

message 5477: by Leea (new)

Leea I can't wait to get into ICED now, Kay... I had forgotten that about Dani. lol!! I hope to start tonight!

message 5479: by Lori (last edited Nov 01, 2012 11:33AM) (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Hi all! I know Wendy F and Leea from other books and groups at Goodreads... but they introduced me to this group, too. Yay!

Anyway, I finished Iced Dani O'Malley last night... not quite sure how I feel about it. I *did* re-read the Fever series in anticipation, but I'd actually forgotten a lot of things about the series, so it was good prep for me. Although I have to say, this book "feels" different, which isn't a bad thing. I have mixed feelings about it.

Reading some Lisa Renee Jones now... I read If I Were You, which, IMO, is a decent book. (Hate all the comparisons to 50 Shades, since, I thought this book was much better - more mature.) So I started into her Tall, Dark, and Deadly series. She's a decent writer, but she's definitely got a pattern; it works, I just feel her heroine's are a bit one-note. I like each of them, they just share similar backgrounds and issues; makes me want to investigate her background - LOL!

BTW, I *love* Eloisa James! And I also love Julia Quinn. Good stuff.

Looking forward to more great recommendations from this group - some of the best stuff I've read in the past year has come from Goodreads folks.

message 5480: by Gwennie (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Welcome Lori! I love Julia Quinn too. I'll have to check out Eloisa James one of these days...probably start with Krishawna's recs listed above.

Leea...Happy Birthday, Ethan! I hope he has a fab day!

message 5483: by Leea (new)

Leea Hey Lori McD!!! Happy you're here.

I agree Kay, I need to read Eloisa James too. I keep hearing all these wonderful recommendations :)

I read the first chapter of ICED and I forgot how much I loved Dani and you're right Lori it has a different feel, I think that's Dani POV and the way she things. I'm really liking it so far :)

message 5484: by Rachel the Book Harlot (last edited Nov 01, 2012 05:22PM) (new)

Rachel the Book Harlot I just finished Kill the Dead (Sandman Slim, #2) by Richard Kadrey , which I really liked. I liked it much more than Book 1. I'm going to take a little break before moving on to Book 3.

I'm not sure what I'm in the mood for next. I might read Ghost Planet by Sharon Fisher or The Mind Readers (Mind Readers, #1) by Lori Brighton but not sure I'm in the mood for either one.

Witty banter and sexy. I've liked many Sabrina Jeffries and Eloisa James and Sarah MacLean and of course Julia Quinn.

Also just DNFd In Pursuit of Miss Eliza Cynster (The Cynster Sisters Trilogy #2) by Stephanie Laurens with no guilt at all. :)

Here are a few of my recommendations then. Keep in mind, some are the first books in a series.

The Raven Prince (Princes Trilogy, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt Bedding Lord Ned (Duchess of Love, #1) by Sally MacKenzie Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers #1) by Sarah MacLean The Truth About Lord Stoneville (Hellions of Halstead Hall, #1) by Sabrina Jeffries

Karen Hawkins is another great author that writes with a lot of humor. Love her! I hope this helps!

Leea I'm up to chapter 5 in ICED and I love Dani and Christian POV... Okay I know in ICED they go over a little of what happend to him, can someone remind me of what happened again... Please :)

message 5492: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Nov 02, 2012 11:19PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Leea, I think it had to do with when they were in that other zone with the mirrors and I think he got stuck in there for a while? I'm sort of fuzzy on that too.

I was always more of a Ryo fan and didn't pay much attention to Christian but just from the little bit I've read of being in his head, I think I'm going to end up falling in love with Christian too in this book.

Finished Undeniable by Madeline Sheehan (is it sad that I typed in 'unreliable' twice before I figured out I had the wrong book title?) and I had a like/dislike with it. I liked that it read like watching an episode of SoA, but I hated how some problems seemed like they should have been solved sooner. The editing in the book was atrocious though...it was a huge distraction.

Started The Blessed (The Blessed, #1) by Tonya Hurley

message 5493: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Yes! I just finished The Stranger I Married by Sylvia Day and it was pretty good. I'm happy that I'm done with it because it's been on my currently-reading shelf for a long time (but not as long as others...haha). I like the feeling of reducing the books on each shelf, except for the read-shelf.

It was a pretty good historical erotica, but I have nothing to compare it to so it might be a little skewed.

So next I'll read Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James .

Regina (reginar) Why did she have to go there with Christian's thought processes about Dani? That was pretty gross. I really thought she would have (view spoiler)

message 5496: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I finished The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley by audio. The audio is horrible, but it made the text seem hilarious -- like it was mocking it. And made the story even seem sillier. Really good text stands up to mechanical reading but not silly stuff. I would say 2.5 stars, but I am rounding up because I was interested enough to keep listening and I am not sorry I listened.

That would have been a good idea! Yeah, I bumped on Christian. Creepy and also (view spoiler) Maybe my perception of these highlander boys is also coloured by her other series about them but I thought he'd man up better - be more like his relatives even in the face of what's happened to him.

Leea Regina wrote: "Why did she have to go there with Christian's thought processes about Dani? That was pretty gross. I really thought she would have [spoilers removed]"

I thought the same thing was going to happen. I mean, she's 14 and I find it so strange for a 22 year old MAN to find her attractive. I do think KMM meant that she's strong, confident and that he would later like to have a relationship with her.

Tellulah - Yes, I expected more from Christian, clearly he's got an internal struggle with him changing and all. But seems like the McKelters are better than that and stronger.

Maybe I should spoiler tag this?
