How do you know that? They also set the language to Japanese - there are no other Japanese editions with that cover

According to wikipedia.. the book is in Japanese but it has been translated to English

The book is Japanese, but the publisher is set to Harvill Secker, which is the UK publisher of the book, and the cover is of the same UK edition.
I guess whoever added the book has set the language to Japanese because the original language of the book is Japanese

Thank you for that. Please delete this one too: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13... ... Yeah, someone else it created the book page again for the second time.

We don't delete published books, or books with valid ISBNs. This is both.
That is the paperback edition of your book. I combined it with the other editions.

According to this article the book has never been written. (Yes, I know that article was written 4-5 years ago. But given the fact that I can't find any mention of it anywhere, I'm thinking it still hasn't been written.)
Yeah, it doesn't seem to have been. But given that there's a legitimate ISBN assigned to it, and almost 200 users have shelved it, I see no reason to delete it.

Fair enough, but now I'm curious. How does a legitimate ISBN get attached to a book that hasn't even been written?

It varies greatly.
It varies greatly.

I guess I'm just surprised that a publisher would assign an ISBN number to a book they don't even have a manuscript for.

Which would have been lost if you had been able to delete it. And that is precisely why an edition which is not combined with other editions and has been shelved by even one user can only be deleted by a superlibrarian. Too many librarians try to delete in cases where the book absolutely should not be deleted.
Like this one.

Actually, it wasn't. While there are two audio editions, and their ISBNs are somewhat similar, they are not the same edition. In fact, they're not even from the same publisher/imprint.

Yup. Got both.

Please, delete this one: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/77...
The same book (same edition, identical cover), including ISBNs etc., already exists.
Thanks. :-)
Got 100 & 102.
James, any librarian who claims to have never made a mistake has either made very few edits -- or is mistaken in their claim. ;) You are in good company.

I certainly fall into that category, too. To quote a favorite line that I often get reminded of around here, The more you know, the more you know that you don't know.

The author apparently thought they were going to be published but now they're not. According to her the last one listed under her name,
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...
IS going to be published, sometime in 2015 but there's no ISBN #'s as of now.
I'm just not sure what to do....
The only ratings those first two have come from the author, they have no ISBNs, and if they're no longer scheduled for publication . . . gone.
The last one can stay, and in fact I see several reasons not to remove it.

I've combined it with the correct Italian version.
