So the publication date of January 2011 that I'm seeing all over the web did not occur?

No. Never happened. I've contacted the publisher several times about it and they keep telling me it will eventually purge out because there is no book. It's frustrating.

Rather than delete it, since it imported from Ingram and will likely re-import, I will mark it as Not A Book. That should keep it from reimporting.

As far as not being removed from other sites, your publisher is perhaps overly optimistic. It can take several YEARS for that to happen on most sites. They need to request that each site that has it listed remove it. (You may be able to do so as well.)

Ugh. It's SO frustrating because I have loyal SPD readers who LOOK for that stuff, you know? I'll keep contacting sites as I come across them to have it removed. (Maybe I should contact Ingram too!) That publisher's attitude is why I pulled my project. ;)

We don't usually delete fanfic, unless requested by the author or in response to a takedown notice or the like.

I cannot find anything to indicate what, if any would be a valid ISBN for this book. I took the invalid information (ISBN, cover, description) out and assigned that info to the correct book (per worldcat, book in hand). Perhaps a more experience librarian can say if this should be deleted or find the correct ISBN.

...in the Goodreads database we do not change ISBNs. If the data is incorrect we change the data to match the ISBN. We do not change the ISBN to match the data.

If the title doesn't match the ISBN, you're supposed to change the title to match the ISBN, not the other way around.

Susan, the best thing to do would be to start a new thread and list which editions are supposed to be combined with which. I don't want to mess up your translated editions by combining them the wrong way. You can list the ones which need to be deleted as well (are there duplicates of editions?).

I first thought that is what I should do, but the reviews and shelvings go with the title and author that I left ISBN-less. So even though it's done, I would still like to know then, if you would put all the correct book information in with the ISBN record, and uncombine (discombine?) from the other editions of the wrong title, and then combine with the other editions of the correct title, wouldn't you bring along those shelved book records and some ratings/reviews that didn't belong with that book?

It may be, Peter, but that edition is already in the GR database. What I wasn't sure of was whether this was a duplicate of that edition, or if I missed another edition in my search.

Sometimes correcting book records does result in misplaced reviews. We do our best to prevent or minimize that.

Needs a super to delete because of the number of reviews it has (it was a user-created record which I cleaned up and then after I combined it I realized it didn't have an ISBN and was most likely exactly the same as the existing ISBN record)

It's a short story published in Analog that unfortunately bears the same title as the popular novel by Audrey Niffenger. Since I got tired of explaining to people that the story was written and sold before the novel came out (and that you can't copyright titles anyway), I took the story down off all the ebook sites. It was so short I was just giving it away free anyway. Makes my life easier if a librarian could remove it so it doesn't keep coming up on Google searches. (It also lists my name as "the author of the Time Traveler's Wife), which is annoying. Thanks so much!

I used the NAB link on the first two. (Do you have to be a super to see that link on the edit page? I didn't think so.) The third has been shelved by users, so it's not possible to treat it that way; marking the author as you did is all that can be done.

No idea what the 4th one is, but it could just as easily be an out-of-print board book or something like that as a NAB item, no?
