J.C. Isabella (jcisabella) | 5 comments I have two books I've had professional covers made for. I tried to change the covers myself, but then I read somewhere that some of my readers would want to keep the old cover pic instead of the new on on their "shelves" It won't let me change the cover anyway, so how can I do this?

Thanks so much!

Aaron Carson | 55 comments I think you can make an alternate cover edition, but I don't think you can remove the old one if it's been released with that cover also. And each user has the choice of which cover, or edition to display in their collection.

message 3: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Carson | 55 comments Basically you make another entry of the same book, (if the isbn is the same, leave that field blank) and submit it with the new cover.

message 4: by Tntexas (new)

Tntexas | 404 comments You can create alternate-cover entries for the books and then combine all the editions together. You just need to make sure the ISBN/ASIN spots for the new entries are left blank. Maybe attach a librarian's note to the new additions stating that they are alternate-cover entries for those ISBN/ASINs.

J.C. Isabella (jcisabella) | 5 comments Okay, I think I've done this correctly, now I just need my books combined....

Cloudedleopard | 139 comments I combined the two last ones, but I don't see how and why to combine them to "The Unofficial Zack Warren Fan Club". The combination should only be made for books of different editions, not for different books.

message 8: by J.C. (new) - added it

J.C. Isabella (jcisabella) | 5 comments Oh, no I didn't want to combine both those books. lol. I wanted to combine the two council's and the two zack warrens. I also have a new cover for zack warren, so I wanted old zack warren combined with new zack warren.

message 10: by Cloudedleopard (new)

Cloudedleopard | 139 comments Ah, OK done...

The two books appeared as one link, that's why I got it wrong. Sorry!

Toni Carter | 4 comments Hi,

Please can I add a book cover to my book?

Toni

I have the cover photo on my desktop,

Kind Regards
Toni.

Traveling Diva (travelingdiva) | 372 comments Hi Toni, you are a librarian so you should be able to add it yourself. Since it's on your desktop, you're the only one who can unless you upload it somewhere we can access it first.

Toni Carter | 4 comments Thank you so much. Yes I am now a Librarian, have changed it. :)

message 16: by Branyon (new)

Branyon May | 2 comments So I am pretty new, but have gone through the steps to be a librarian (at least for my book). My book was only a Kindle version, but was then picked up by the publisher for print. When printed, the cover was revised. So I followed the steps outlined in this thread for combining the two editions, but how do you make sure the newer edition's cover is the main one seen in searches and lists?
First edition: Does God Like... to Paint?
Revised: Does God Like... to Paint?

Branyon May | 2 comments Thanks Catalina... I had been on that metadata page and adjusted all of the other parameters, but had missed that little link on the right side. Question solved.

All authors who claim their profile have librarian status over their own books if that helps.

Ellen Benefield | 15 comments How do you claim your profile? I need to change the cover on one of my books. Thank you.

You have already claimed your author profile. Unfortunately, cover changes are one privilege authors don't have over their books. If you need an alternate cover edition added to your book, you can post a request here in the librarian's group. However, it gets confusing when users post requests at the end of old threads and/or threads started about specific books. You'll get a faster response if you start a new thread.

Nicky Peacock (nickypeacock-author) | 9 comments Hi,

My book is still predominately coming up with its old cover https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... - can it please change to the new one please http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bad-Blood-Bat...

Thank you!

message 26: by Melaslithos (new)

Melaslithos | 1360 comments @Nicky: it looks like the new cover already is on GR. To set it as the default edition, please follow the instructions here:
https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/3...

Only the author can do this.

message 27: by Lucia (new)

Lucia Franco | 15 comments How do I update my cover? I made an alternate cover edition and merged them, but I want my updated cover to show to new one and I can't figure out how to do that.

The new one is much lighter now. Thank!

If you haven't already done it:

This is the procedure for setting the default edition of a book:
i) Go to the book page of the edition you wish to become the default/primary edition.
ii) Click "edit details" below the book's description.
iii) On the right side of the page about halfway down, click "Set this book as the primary edition for this work".
iv) Click "Save Changes"

message 29: by Angela (new)

Angela (benevolentstalker) | 38 comments The Last Glass

The author wants to change the book cover to the generic one as she is going to update the cover but doesn't have the new cover yet. Is that possible? Or does she have to leave it until she has the new cover?

message 30: by Philip (new)

Philip (burnnerman) | 5912 comments #29 - Covers do not get deleted or changed. When the author releases a new cover they can create an Alternate Cover Edition(ACE) of the book, and then set that book edition as the Default, that shows up when it is searched for, or viewed on the Author's Profile.

message 31: by Angela (new)

Angela (benevolentstalker) | 38 comments Ok. That's what I thought. I will let her know. Thanks Philip!
