I am reading a book about the cultural history of vanilla and the memoirs of Joseph Plumb Martin (a foot soldier during the American Revolution). Next week it will probably be something different!
Right now I'm on the last book of the Hunger Games trigoly Mockingjay. They are really good.I feel like I understand war and what it does to people alot better. How killing someone even in self-defense haunts you.How everything isn't black and white.
Alice wrote: "do you like lloyd alexander? i hav a book by him I wanna read buuuuut..... "He's a good writer, and the one book I just finished was really good. The only books I know Lloyd Alexander has written are the Chronicles of Prydain books (there's 5 in all). And I just got done with the second in the series. If you're thinking about reading those, I really recommend them. They're sort of like the Lord of the Rings, except geared toward a younger audience. I still find them quite entertaining though. :) And they're very light reads, being no more than 200 pages for the first three books.

Okay, I can say that A Tale of Two Cities is definitely my favorite I have ever read this year (so far). Dickens wrote in such a way as to make it easy for the reader to understand what is going on in every scene, including the setting, the tone, the mood of the characters, their personalities, the plot, the theme... Everything falls into place so perfectly, and the entire story is so intricately woven, yet the author manages to tie up all the loose ends nice and tight (maybe a bit too tightly in my opinion, but all the other assets in the book which I have already stated rule out this little misgiving). Now that I've read A Tale of Two Cities, I'd really like to read more about the French Revolution (in both fiction and non-fiction).I started reading The Ruins of Gorlan yesterday as a little break from my more serious reading. I'm liking it so far, though its quite heavy on the cliches in terms of plot.
