Nathan (nthnlwly) Hey, I haven't finished it yet (or seen the movie) but could someone tell me if The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is action packed and would count for category 2?

I'm trying to plan my reads for the month and need to know if I can count it or if I'll have to find another one!

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments Do you guys think Persuasion would count because it was made into a romantic movie? I just don't know if that's how you would typically define "chick flick."

message 35: by Johanna (new)

Johanna | 766 comments Don´t know how others define it, but for me it would be basically any romantic/romantic comedy movie.

message 36: by Nathan (last edited Apr 09, 2012 01:47PM) (new)

Nathan (nthnlwly) from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chick_flick :
Chick flick is a slang term for a film mainly dealing with love and romance designed to appeal to a female target audience. Although many types of films may be directed toward the female gender, "chick flick" is typically used only in reference to films that are heavy with emotion or contain themes that are relationship-based (although not necessarily romantic as many other themes may be present).

In my opinion, it's a movie that, when suggested to your boyfriend/boy who is a friend, they laugh at you and say there is no way they are watching it. lol. xP

message 37: by Kara (new)

Kara (karaayako) | 3984 comments There's a certain amount of (forgive me) silliness that I tend to associate with the term "chick flick," and Persuasion seems like it would be in a more serious vein, so I wasn't sure.

Based on those definition, however, I think I can count it. Sweet.

Thank you, both!

message 38: by Nathan (new)
