These two links are exactly the same book just different editions I guess, but I can't combine it, I don't know why it doesn't work.

Thanks, vitalinew! Looking at that page you linked, I think it's actually the MacGregors:Daniel & Ian anthology.

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Can anyone tell if these two authors are the same and should be combined? ريموند كارور، هاروكي موراكامي، جومپا لاهیری، شرمان آل and ريموند كارور، هاروكي موراكامي، جومپا لاهیری، شرمان آل

My browser's fonts are completely failing to differentiate between these two names, nor do I know if they're a transliteration of a roman-alphabet author's name, the name of a non-roman-alphabet (Farsi?) author/editor's name, or some editorial board (given that each author has one compilation book), I'm afraid....

I copy-pasted both into Word, and they look identical. But maybe one of our Farsi-speakers can be more definitive.

*laugh* Thanks. But you haven't answered the second part of Cait's question -- what does it say?

message 115: by Cait (last edited Mar 04, 2009 12:06PM) (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Is someone working on those books I just linked to? Because I came back to say I'd found another edition of the book and they seem to have disappeared -- and also, the two secondary authors still showing in the cache (Sherman Alexie and Haruki Murakami) are throwing "unexpected error" pages when I try to open their book lists.

message 116: by Novin (new)

Novin | 37 comments actually I tried to edit those books, but I came across the unexpected error as well...

I´ll try... but most of the books which are not combined are out of print and I will have to research so it may take some time...

jenjn79 | 564 comments Sherry wrote: "Can someone who speaks German help with this author?Sandra Brown

I'm working on the Sandra Brown German titles...I found a great site a while back for romance authors and some others that has German titles and the original English title

message 120: by jenjn79 (new)

jenjn79 | 564 comments I combined the Sandra Brown German translations. There's a few other translations that need to be combined, though. I think they might be Portuguese, not sure, and there's once I don't know what language it is.

message 121: by an. (new)

an. (anaisraav) | 30 comments When it comes to the Sandra Brown book you didn't know, I suppose you ment the misspelled title of Polish translation. That one was combined, too.

jenjn79 | 564 comments Anna wrote: "When it comes to the Sandra Brown book you didn't know, I suppose you ment the misspelled title of Polish translation. That one was combined, too."

Ah, so it was Polish...that was my best guess on language, but it was a process of elimination guess. Thanks for combining it!

message 123: by Cait (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Gioconda Belli could use some combining by someone who speaks Spanish (the original publication language) and German (the language of several untranslated editions).

Inara | 24 comments Cait wrote: "Gioconda Belli could use some combining by someone who speaks Spanish (the original publication language) and German (the language of several untranslated editions)."
I combined the german books which where possible to combine, the rest are either poems from different works or I didn´t find an English edition...

message 125: by mlady_rebecca (new)

mlady_rebecca | 591 comments Henry David Thoreau has Kindle editions of "Walking" with various attached thesauruses. For example, here is the Arabic edition. I quick glance shows at least 15 variations.

Can these be combined? The actual source material is in English and is identical. It's only the supplementary thesaurus that differs.

message 126: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
I would say yes. They're much like another book having an index or glossary.

message 128: by Cait (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Can anyone check up on these two German books attributed to Stephen Lawhead:

Reiseführer in eine neue Zeit and Timmy Stockente bekommt seine Chance.

All of the other Stephen Lawheads I've found were actually Stephen R. Lawhead, so I suspect that these are too....

message 129: by Inara (new)

Inara | 24 comments I combined Timmy Stockente, Annabell Igel and Der Traumdieb. "Reiseführer in eine neue Zeit" seems to be "Pilgrim´s Guide to the New Age" but I didn´t find this book so maybe it isn´t listed

Ah-hah, thank you! Pilgrim's Guide has Stephen R. Lawhead as the second author in English. So that's set!

message 131: by Geediez (new)

Geediez | 14 comments I'm new here so don't know if anyone has encountered those problems before, if yes then I'm sorry to bother reading it all again. Anyway, the first one is about a Ukrainian marriage of Marina and Siergiej Diachenko. We have two seperate id's for them at goodreads:

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

The thing is that in Poland all books are being released like the first id (so Marina and Siergiej both as a author's name). Yet here, we have two separate id's for them and I'm not quite sure if I should combine them into one author or not.

Second question is about anthologies. Who should I put as a first author of the book if it consists of, let's say 5-6 authors? An anthology editor? What if none is specified?

Cheers and I hope you'll guide me here.

message 132: by Cait (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Geediez, more people will read this if you start a new thread for this in the "Questions" folder, because this thread is for combining translated editions of books with each other. Would you mind reposting? These are questions that have been asked before, but they're complicated answers and it would be good for more people to see the discussion.

I combined the Sandra Brown German translations. (...) I think they might be Portuguese, not sure,(...)

This one is Obsessão I don't know the original book but I guess is The Crush.

The description of Obsessão states smth like: "The phone rings at the house of Lee Howell a surgeon, after a party. Due to a serious trafic accident, his presence is requested at the Fort Worth General Hospital".

Somebody identifies this ???
