Spring Challenge 2012: Completed Tasks with ?s/problems

The edition of What the Night Knows that you linked has 442 pages. If you read a different edition with more than 500 pages, please repost with a link to the edition you read."
Many apologies!! I have reposted the edition I read with a link in post 462. Thanks

Task 15.10 -- The description of Fire indicates that it is a collection of essays, only some of which deal with fires and fire jumpers. If more than half of the book isn't about these topics, it will not work for this task.

The Fire Within looks like it's ebook only. I don't see that one in the verification thread. Please repost this task after the book has been approved for length. No need to repost the other tasks, they have been recorded.

You've signed up with the Readerboard name MONICA S. You either need to put your Readerboard name at the top of or posts or, if you'd prefer, we can change your Readerboard name to match your GRs name since there are no other Monica's in the challenge. If your Readerboard name and your GRs name match, you don't have to remember to put a Readerboard name at the top of your posts. Let me know which way you want to go with your Readerboard name.
You'll then need to repost (please don't edit post 437 - I only move forward through the completed task posts) the tasks in post 437 with the Readerboard name you've chosen.

Task 5.4 requires that all the letters in F,I,R,E appear somewhere in the title or subtitle of the book. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has no F.

Please list your completed tasks in numerical order. It make record-keeping much easier. Thanks!

Hey, Kristi....the F is in "of"!

Ha! I looked and looked. Of course, it was nearly midnight after a 12-hour work day, so there you go. ;-). Thanks, Bea, I'll add it in and it'll show up in the next update. No need to repost.

I'm not sure what you mean by a 2 in 1 book. If you mean it's an anthology, which is what it appears to be from the GRs page, it only counts as one book. If it's an omnibus version, the rules state that both books/stories in the omnibus version must be published as stand-alone books. If this really is an omnibus edition, please repost with links to the separately published works.

Task 30.3 -- If you look at the books approved for option 1 of this task, I think you'll find that the photo on Writing A Research Paper In Political Science: A Practical Guide To Inquiry, Structure, And Methods doesn't really apply. The task states that the photo must have edges, a frame, etc. showing that it's a photo. You might want to try placing Writing A Research Paper In Political Science: A Practical Guide To Inquiry, Structure, And Methods into one of the nonfiction tasks instead.

I misunderstood what the task was asking for. I've reposted for Task 15.2 instead, in Post # 574. Thanks!

Sorry, but the rules state that you may only start 1 book of 500+ pages prior to the beginning of the challenge. Since none of the books you've listed in this post have over 500 pages, any of the ones you started prior to March 1 cannot be counted for this challenge. Please repost listing only tasks finished with books you've read since March 1.

Hi, Kristen. Could you please list your tasks in order when you claim them? The moderators work with these huge Excel spreadsheets to try to keep everyone's points straight. Having your tasks in order cuts down on the amount of scrolling through the spreadsheet we have to do. Cuts down on the number of times we miss a task, too. ;-)
Thanks!

Task 15.6 -- Required: Include the date of the list you used when you post. Please repost with the required information.
Task 20.7 -- Outlander is more historical fiction than folklore/fairy tale. I think if you look at the help thread for task 20.7 Outlander isn't really what Jayalalita's looking for.

Please list your completed tasks in numerical order. It make record-keeping much easier. Thanks!"
Sorry about that Kristi! I will make sure to do that from now on :)

Task 20.6: REQUIRED: State what you rolled when posting. Please repost with the required information.

There are many Jens, Jennifers, Jennys, etc. in the challenge. Please repost with your Readerboard name at the top of your post.

Task 15.1 is a TWO book task. Please do not post the task as completed until both books have been read.
Task 20.3 -- REQUIRED: Include the song title you used in your post.
Task 20.4 -- Required: Include the name of the book and series that you read during the Winter Challenge when you post.
Task 20.6 -- REQUIRED: State what you rolled when posting.
Task 20.9 -- REQUIRED: Post which option you chose.
Please repost with the required information.

Task 20.6: REQUIRED: State what you rolled when posting. Please repost with the required information."
Thanks Kristi, sorry about that. I reposted as 658.

Task 25.12 - You must read one book from each option (A and B). The Thirteenth Tale works for A.3., but Light on Snow doesn't fit B.1.
Task 30.7 - Fire Elamentals 2. REQUIRED – explain what was cleansed/let go of
Please repost with the missing information.
Also, please put your tasks in numerical order (smallest to largest) when you post. It makes record-keeping much, much easier. Thanks!

Task 30.8 -- The SRC rules state If you read an ebook, or audiobook use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. The MMP of You Belong to Me is not 500+ pages, so will not work for option 1.
For option #3, the book must be a “Currently Reading” book choice for a group you are a part of. Unlucky does not appear on the currently reading shelf of the Nothing But Reading Challenges group so will not work for option 3.

I read the paperback edition in my library and it had 512 pages as posted.

I've got the paperback in my hand. Technically, it has 494 pages. The excerpt in the back brings it to 504. So, assuming you read the excerpt, it'll work for The Brain.
I still have an issue with 30.8 option 3.

That's fine, I meant to delete that snarky reply. Sorry. I found another place to use the book.

Task 20.5 -- If you didn't take part of the Winter Challenge you are to start a new series with its first book. Sophie and the Scoundrels is the 3rd book in the series.

Task 30.2 -- The Wikipedia description (because the GRs one stinks) of Earth says the plot is about "an artificially created black hole which has been lost in the Earth's interior and the attempts to recover it before it destroys the planet. Where does an astronaut come into this?

This is going to get complicated. We first meet her on page 26 when she is flying a space shuttle which is rendezvousing with a space station when the black hole sends a beam out into space, killing a number of astronauts including her husband. She becomes involved because she wants to find out what caused her husband's death. Later on she becomes romantically involved with the man who first discovered the black hole and plays a major role in the final showdown.

See, now why couldn't GRs have had such a nice, neat synopsis? ;-) No need to repost. I'll pick it up and the points will show up in the next update. Thanks!

Hi Krisi,
I guess the rules have changed since I last participated. Some of the books I had listed in Post 487 I had started prior to March 1, but not all of them. I will repost the books I have read since March 1 in the Completed Tasks.
Thank you!

Task 20.9 - REQUIRED: Post which option you chose.
Please repost with the required information.

Task 5.3 -- Joseph-Daniel Peter Paul Abondius has several books on his bookshelves titled Silence. A link to the book you read would be best, but I need at least an author. Please repost this task with more information. No need to repost the other task in post 690, it's already been recorded.
Also, please put your tasks in numerical order (from smallest to largest). The moderators are dealing with huge Excel spreadsheets. If you list your tasks in order, it cuts down on the amount of scrolling we have to do and, therefore, cuts down on the number of mistakes we make. Thanks!

Just got to post 696 so now I see which Silence you were referring to in 690 and I've picked it up, so no need to repost.

5.1 Silhouette on the Shade

5.2 Get Caught Reading
Reading Lolita in Tehran - Azar Nafisi
5.3 Let's Hear it for the Boys
Tara Road - Maeve Binchy
From book shelf of Joseph-Daniel.

That's because I've only gotten to post 700 in the completed task thread. The last task you've listed, 5.3, is in post 723 so it won't show up until the next update.
You can tell what post I'm on by looking at the very top of the Readerboard. It'll say something like (updated through post #700).

Task 30.3 - option 6 - REQUIRED: Explain how your book is “scary” and makes you jump.
Please repost with the missing requirements.

Task 15.6 - Required: Include the date of the list you used when you post.
Please repost with the required information.
Also, please put your tasks in numerical order (from smallest to largest). The moderators are dealing with huge Excel spreadsheets. If you list your tasks in order, it cuts down on the amount of scrolling we have to do and, therefore, cuts down on the number of mistakes we make. Thanks!

Task 25.10: “Romance” must be in the genre list of the book’s main page. Sorry, but I And My Heart won't work for this task. It has no genres on its main page. The genre Romance must show on the GRs main page for the book to fit the task.

There are quite a few Erins in the challenge. Please repost with your Readerboard name at the top of your post.

All claimed tasks:
5.7, 5.8 = 10
10.1, 10.4, 10.6, 10.9 = 40
15.4, 15.8, 15.10 = 45
20.4, 20.7, 20.8 = 60
25.9 = 25
30.3, 30.8 = 60
10+40+45+60+25+60 = 240

Thanks for letting me know, Angie. (And for listing all your points. That was very helpful!!) I missed 20.8. I've added it to the spreadsheet and your points will show up in the next update. Thanks!

And it was no problem. I know you all have a lot to keep track of, so I figured I'd provide as much info as possible. :)

Sorry, Karen, but Tess of the D'Urbervilles isn't going to work for 25.4. For book 2, you need to make a word that is at least 4 letters long, using the first letters of the words in book 1's title. There's no L to make LOUD in Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

Task 30.3 - option 6 - REQUIRED: Explain how your book is “scary” and makes you jump. Please repost with the required information. No need to repost any of the other tasks in post 765. They have been recorded.
