I have been on and off addicting to books since high school.
First, it was Agatha Christie and her mysteries books that got me reading. Then, during college year, I was in to Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. And in the past two years, I have been reading a lot and it was The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare that got me addicted to books once again.

Welcome. I also loved Agatha Christie when I was young. I also couldn't get enough of the Sherlock Holmes books. I love all the different genres. I've found some wonderful authors and series here. I hope you enjoy being here as well.

I also have loved reading since I was very young. I loved the Lord of the Ring series too. And later the Ann Rice vampire books. Harold Robbins is mild compared to the erotica they have available now. I like all kinds of genre. I hope you enjoy the conversations and suggestions as much as I have. Welcome.

When I was younger I didn't like reading until my Mom took me to the library and showed me The Black Stallion books (I'm a horse lover). Now I read all different types of books, and it's one of my favorite hobbies.

Welcome Nelou. I'm guessing I'm quite a bit older than you. I read the Harry Potter books to my son, and loved them. They reminded me of the Narnia series I read as a child. And later, as a middle school age child, the Lord of the Ring series. I'm thrilled that my son grew up to be a lover of books as well. Now that I've practically written a book myself, I just want to say I hope you enjoy the conversations here as much as I do.

I got into Harry Potter a bit later than others actually, but it completely changed everything for me!

I'm a tad ashamed to admit I haven't read Lord of the Rings yet :S I've been so busy the last year and a half writing my novel that I've only managed to read a handful of books. But hey, now that I'm done, I have a TON of catching up to do! :D

When I was a kid I loved tales but no one was willing to spend all day telling me stories so I had to learn how to read in cyrillic ( the old tale books in my grandmother library were written in this alphabet). From that moment I was hooked on books. :3

I've been reading a very long time (nearly 69 here). As a child, I loved any horse story going and read them all, especially the Black Stallion books and Margarite Henry's books. I also read all the fairy tales and folk tales and biographies (anyone old enough to remember those blue covered, highly "adapted for children" biographies that were in elementary school libraries-ours was a large closet- in the mid fifties?). By high school I was reading Agatha Christie, all the Narnia books (which were hard to come by), and the Lord of the Rings. Then I discovered Andre Norton who is still one of my favorites. That sent me off even further into fantasy and science fiction. If anyone enjoys PNR vampire books, try the Saint Germaine Chronicles by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro.

Oh my goodness, I asked my mom what books she remembered that got me into reading. It was Dr. Seuss! The first chapter books that I started reading that got me going were the Boxcar Children. From there I remember really loving all the Madeleine l'engle, particularly A Ring of Endless Light. That was the book I read over and over for a few years (I re-read it for fun a few months ago haha)
