I finished my second and last pick: The Iron Duke by Meljean Brook. It took me a little bit to get into it, but I really liked this book. I like the steampunk genre with it's world building and unique characters. I enjoyed most of the characters. I loved the chemistry between Rhys and Mina and I loved the ending.

Great to know! I've downloaded the audiobook and will listen to it on the next trip!

Glad you were able to get to it. I always enjoy Cat and Bones. Usually get a good laugh here and there throughout their books. I'm at the same book in the Fever series. Let me know what you think.

4. The lights are on, but nobody's home: Simply Irresistible by Jill Shalvis 5/5--Very sweet story. I've loved the majority of this series and this one was no different.
5. Elite 8: The Help 2/5--I had to struggle a bit with this one. I heard so much hype about it but sadly it just wasn't for me.

I guess you read all 3 books, Dawn?

Thanks for the recs Karen..

Hi Karen,
How did this book compare with the first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?

I have finished reading our buddy read

Megan

How did this book compare with the first book, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?"
It's really hard for me to say, Lacy, for a couple of reasons. One is that I read the first book and listened to the audio of the second (and working on the third) so the comparison isn't exact, and the other is that I read the first one over a year ago and the details are a little fuzzy. I think the second one was probably harder for me to follow though - I know the third book is easier than the second.
Also, the first book is self-contained, the second and third books run together so much that they could very easily have been published as one book. In fact, except for the length, I would have liked it better if they were combined!

Thanks for the recs Karen.."
Glad you liked it Mounika!

That is what I thought too Karen. I know that is not how they were written, but that is how it read to me. Like the first book was so well received that the author filled it out to become a trilogy.

Are you still on for buddyreading
The Thief?

I love the cover of The Novice. How was it?
I'm not sure I can start 'The Thief' this month, unless it fits the Bingo Shelf challenge I'm doing in another group. Can I contact you on Saturday evening? (That's when they announce shelves for the week.)

I'm doing that challenge too, it's really fun, yes?
I think you would enjoy the trilogy D.G., The Novice is the second book. It's similar to The Name of The Wind because it deals with a character who learns about magic in an University setting then goes on to have many adventures. The writing isn't as beautiful and lyrical but the worldbuilding is solid, the story develops seemlessly and there are lots of interesting characters. I'm reading book 3 now.:)

Yes, lots of fun! Too bad I didn't think of contacting you to read "The Thief" for the 'magic' shelf! Anyhow, it we can't read it this month, what do you say to reading it in April? It happens to fit another group challenge I'll be doing in April so it will be perfect there. :)

I guess yo..."
Yes got all 3!
