Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments By the way, that was me trying to be funny, not an instruction.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Set in Australia. Great book. Bad film.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I remember really liking A Town Called Alice, but don't remember much about the story either.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I got a tree book copy of a town called Alice just before my kindle. So of course I've not read it.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments £4.95 on Kindle... might have got it if it was a bit cheaper... and its A Town Like Alice - I got the name wrong.

Not even available on the US site or I would have put it on my wish list.

message 316: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I thought it was 'called' too. Hmmm. Dave says it's a great book and I should read the paperback. Pshaw. Like that's gonna happen.

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Isn't there a song called ' A Town Called Malice'? Maybe that is where the confusion lay!

message 320: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Blurb isn't very helpful with the plot is it? Dave sez the first part is set in a Japanese prisoner of war camp, the second in Alice Springs. Ring a bell?

Is it the one about some women who are 'wags' of the army, they get caught by the japanese and go on this really long march to.....somewhere.....sorry thats as much as I remember....

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments that does ring a bell but not even sure if its that book..

message 323: by Patti (baconater) (new)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Dave sez that's the one Deeds

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Needs a few exploding cyborgs I think.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments A Town like Alice, Australian hero and English heroine meet as prisoners of the Japanese, then meet up again later. On The Beach, post apocalyptic novel set in Oz. Very bleak and gave me the heebies when I read it as a young teenager.

Rosemary (grooving with the Picts) (nosemanny) | 8590 comments Both written by Nevil Shute, underrated nowadays I reckon!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments My dad loved him, I read most of them when I lived at home. haven't read much of his since. Wonder what I would think of them now.

message 347: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Just in case anyone pokes their head in here, who's downloaded my book. I've sent an error-fixing updated version to Amazon. It's currently publishing, so, within the next few hours an update for Z14 will be available.

I somehow managed to make my eBook smaller this time...I checked it out on my phone and it all "seemed" okay, but, if I've accidentally left out chapter 17 or something, let me know! :)

message 348: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments I've just done myself a thread on Amazon's "Meet Our Authors" forum.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/forum/meet%20...

Not sure if I got the right vibe going on though. Oh my god, I should delete it. No leave it. No delete it. No l- and so on and so on.

I really piss myself off sometimes.

Not right now though, I'm feeling: Shit-eating grin time.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I'm going to have a look. Don't do anything drastic!

message 350: by Jim (new)

Jim Chaseley (jimchaseley) | 492 comments Drastic is my middle name.

Actually it's Hubert, but don't tell anyone.

Also: I don't actually have a middle name.
