I hate how Steve thinks I'm a teenaged boy.

P.S. I also don't want to read things THIS ugly. Even if it IS about a Mexican wrestler who is also a detective.

Kick Ass is pretty good...if you don't get anxiety attacks when little kids start slicing people's heads off.

I like Kill Bill, too. I guess I can see where I send mixed messages that make Steve think that I would want to read really violent comics. I have to be in the right mood is all.
Like I almost had a panic attack when I watched Reservoir Dogs.

Yeah, when they were torturing the cop, I almost lost it.

My daughter rented it and it was pretty good, but quite bloody.
The only fight I ever got in with one of my exes was during that scene because I wanted to stop watching the movie.
Plus, the guys I date are kinda mental.
I haven't seen Machine Girl. I think I'm in a "violence and me don't mix" mode right now.
Usagi is absolutely brilliant and I think you'll find the art style a bit more gentle on the eyes Montambo.
Of course, it does lack that sweet scene where kick ass gets nailed by the car and the lovely cryogenic imagery of 'The Brothers of The Bone' but it's not completely without it's merits.

Charissa: I've heard good things about Machine Girl, I'll throw it on the Queue for next week and let ya know...

Now one of you has to give me some recommendations for more comics I can read that look like that kick ass image up above. Dammit.
You should be checking out Kick Ass, Battle Royale (the manga specifically although both the Film & book are quite good), Gunslinger Girl (which is not only pretty cute but has The Delgados playing the theme song), Uzumaki (The Manga, not the film), Audition, and of course almost any film with Lily Thai :D
Lemme know when you're done with those and I'll see what else I got.

The third one is where these guys are introduced:

I did run across Audition yesterday. That is an absolutely beautiful hysterical rag. I'm totally heading down to my local comic shop when I get home. W00t!

Tom: I'd been on the bubble about Kabuki (having been burned by the Great Art=Crap Writing equation before), but I've heard such good things about this one...and I'm still trying to fill the void left by Y the Last Man :_( I'll check it out, Thx Tom!

Oh...and Montambo might enjoy Strangers In Paradise. It's got lesbians, so you might, too.

i love love LOVE kabuki. mostly becuase of the art, but i dig the story too (although her insane ranting gets a little trying in the later books, the watercolors are so pretty you can easily ignore the 30th reference to her dead gold fish). it was actually fairly instrumental in my choice of career, even though now i design packaging for women's skin care products rather than comic books. although i still want to do a comic one of these days.

Steve, my favorite books are Middlesex and Angela's Ashes. My favorite movie is Amelie! I like comedies. And America's Next Top Model. I do NOT like superhero comics where people's heads get slashed off and land on the floor.
Thanks. "Kick Ass!" the comic IS kick ass. But I can't handle it!!!!
